Problems with the sewer system can arise at any time - there is no escape from it. But it’s even worse if they appear while the washing machine is running. Does your sink gurgle when your washing machine drains? It is not normal. If the situation is not corrected in time, it can lead to even more unpleasant consequences. Blockage in the sewer

An ordinary drainage system in houses works thanks to reliable connections of all drain pipes. Therefore, washing machines, dishwashers, dryers, etc. are usually connected to plumbing to save the family budget.

That is why, when waste liquid is drained from household appliances, water is pushed into the drain pipe in large quantities. Most often, sewer holes with a sink are designed so that the liquid goes into the drain without changing the pressure in the pipe.

But if there is a blockage in the sewer system, then such a pipe block will create uneven pressure to drain the sewage. This is what causes the unpleasant gurgling sound that can be heard in the sink or other household appliances. What can you do to eliminate those air and gas bubbles that are stuck in the pipe and cannot escape due to a clogged drain?

In such a situation, there is nothing left to do except remove the blockage, which will allow the air to begin flowing evenly again. Special means for removing blockages in pipes will help you with this. You can use household chemicals such as "Mole", ordinary baking soda, drain snake and other drain cleaners.

Unclog your sink

Now let’s look at the process of cleaning the sink from blockages, which most often causes uneven pressure and the formation of a gurgling sound during drainage from the “home assistant”. First of all, you need to make sure that there is no blockage in the siphon itself under the sink, which must be carefully disassembled, cleaned, and then put back in place and rinsed with hot water. If everything is fine with it, and the problem has not gone away, then you should proceed with further thorough cleaning.

Experts recommend cleaning your kitchen sink trap at least once a month, which can be done manually or using available tools.

We will describe in detail how to eliminate gurgling in the sink if cleaning the siphon did not help. In this case, you first need to choose one of four reliable methods for eliminating uneven pressure.

• Chemical drain cleaner. There are many household chemicals on the market that will help get rid of clogged sewer pipes. For example, you can purchase Drano brand products, which are inexpensive and work very quickly. The disadvantage of this method is that such chemicals release toxic fumes along with contaminants that can cause long-term corrosion and other damage to the plumbing system if such products are used too often. The method of application is extremely simple - pour the contents of the bottle down the drain and after half an hour, rinse the drain.
• Enzyme drain cleaner. This product, with a high content of bacteria and enzymes, destroys not only blockages along with various debris, but also mold and mildew, which often form in the plumbing system.Moreover, products of this type are much safer than chemical household pipe cleaners, and therefore will not damage the water supply. The disadvantage is that an enzymatic drain cleaner is more difficult to find in stores, plus it works more slowly. Most often, such a product needs to be poured into the drain at night before bed, so that no one touches it for at least eight hours, and then wash it off.
• Baking soda. One of the oldest cleaning methods that allows you to get rid of a clogged sewer pipe. It is enough to pour a large pan of boiling water down the drain, and then pour a whole glass of baking soda into it, making an effort to do this. Next, all that remains is to add a glass of vinegar to the drain, close the stopper and wait about 10 minutes until the bubbly reaction of soda with vinegar loosens the remaining clogs from the sides of the pipe. After the break, you need to pour boiling water into the drain again in order to eliminate the remaining contaminants along with the soda.

Be careful with boiling water so as not to accidentally burn yourself or damage the plastic pipes.

• Drain snake. Finally, you can use a drain snake, insert the end of the snake into the pipe, and then turn the handle on the drum to push the snake further into the drain. You need to do this until you hit a blockage, where you will need to start rotating the snake against the blockage and using this rotational action to destroy the plug. In a situation where you no longer feel that the product is destroying the blockage, you need to remove the snake from the drain - this way you will most likely remove the plug along with the snake. After all the manipulations, all that remains is to clean the pipe using a powerful stream of hot water from the tap.

In addition to regular cleaning, it is also necessary to provide the sewer with an air release system so that uniform pressure is maintained in the pipes while draining water from the washing machine. In such a situation, milk will splash in all directions and pour out unevenly.

It is with the second hole that the air exhaust system can be compared. Thanks to it, air freely enters the sewer pipe while draining waste liquid from the washing machine, so the water drains quickly and without unnecessary noise.
