Can you dry jeans in a clothes dryer?

Is it possible to dry jeans in a clothes dryer?As with washing machines, dryers cannot be used on absolutely any type of fabric without the risk of ruining the item. However, which materials do not tolerate automatic drying? For example, everyone has jeans, or even more than one pair, in their wardrobe. Is it possible to dry jeans in a dryer or is it better to prefer the natural drying method?

Will a dryer harm my jeans?

Jeans can be safely put into the dryer, but only under one condition: they do not have any decorative elements on them. To avoid permanently damaging your favorite pants, never dry the following items in the dryer:

  • things with colored prints;
  • clothes with applique;
  • products with an abundance of metal or plastic elements;
  • products with embroidery;
  • items with leather inserts;
  • clothes embroidered with beads or rhinestones.be careful with embellished jeans

If you still can't decide whether to dry your jeans automatically or naturally, refer to the manufacturer's label on the product. Usually it says whether the item can be dried automatically. Be sure to fasten all zippers, buttons, and snaps on your jeans before putting them in the dryer!

Attention! Stretch jeans made of stretch material will not survive automatic drying without harm: the product will stretch and lose its shape.

As mentioned above, regular thick jeans without decoration can be dried in a machine. To do this, you can use either the special “Jeans” drying program, which is available in many models, or the “Normal drying” mode, which is also good.

Jeans shrunk after drying

Unfortunately, jeans are very prone to shrinkage.Even under proper washing and drying conditions, the product may shrink 1 or 2 sizes, this is normal. Over time, several effective ways have been invented to return things to their original size.

The first method involves soaking the item in the bathroom. But it will not work if you originally bought small size pants.

  • Lay a waterproof mat on the bathroom floor and a towel on top; you will need this later.
  • Fill the bathtub about one-third full with warm water (temperature 35-40 degrees). Then pour liquid detergent into it and stir.
  • Put the shrunken item on yourself and sit in the bath in it. You should spend about 30 minutes in the water.
  • When the jeans become looser from this procedure, you can try to stretch them a little more with your hands.in the bathroom in jeans
  • Get out of the bath. Without taking off your pants, do a little gymnastics in them, avoiding squats, otherwise unsightly stretch marks will appear on your knees.
  • Now you can take off your jeans and dry them.

There are also special extenders for clothes, in English “waistband extenders”, which can make a shrunken item a couple of sizes larger. Such devices are sold at a reasonable price in Chinese online stores. How to use this device?

  • Use a spray bottle to wet your jeans at the waist and hips with clean water.
  • Fasten all buttons and clasps on the product.
  • Place the extender inside the waistband of the item.device for stretching jeans
  • Before the stretching procedure, measure your parameters and the parameters of the shrunken product in order to understand exactly how much you need to stretch the thing.
  • Gradually stretch the device until the desired mark is reached (based on your measurements).

Important! After reaching the desired mark, do not remove the expander from your pants and dry them naturally with it.

Another way to make something a little bigger is to steam it, this is a well-known fact. Both an iron and a steam generator are suitable for such purposes. You need to treat the waist part or other areas of the product that need stretching with steam for about 5-7 minutes, then before the item cools down, put it on yourself and walk like this for about an hour and a half to consolidate the result.

You can also use a regular water spray and a tape measure to stretch a shrunken item. Lay the product on the table and spray water on the areas that require stretching. Don't forget to generously spray the inside of your jeans as well. In areas of shrinkage, stretch the item with smooth movements.

It’s worth taking measurements first so that you can easily check whether the jeans have stretched to the desired size or not. Repeat the procedure until you are satisfied with the result. After processing, the jeans are put on the back of a chair and dried in this position.
