Where is the drain filter located in the Indesit washing machine?

Where is the drain filter in the Indesit washing machine?Almost every problem when using a washing machine is solved with the help of a garbage filter. The water is urgently drained through it, the pump is taken out and the drainage system is repaired. Moreover, all manufacturers of household appliances, including Indesit, recommend regularly cleaning the “trash can”, otherwise the drain will become clogged and the operation of the machine will stop. To cope with the task with a bang, you need to know where the drain filter in the Indesit washing machine is located. Our note will help with this.

For front-loading models

Before looking for a filter, it is worth getting to know it better. So, this is a plastic spiral-shaped part necessary for filtering waste water. It is the “trash bin” that protects the pipes and pump from debris that gets into the washing machine, preventing major blockages and breakdowns. That is why it is called drainage, drainage or garbage.

Be careful! Indesit machines are famous for their tight latches, so you need to act carefully and try not to damage the plastic parts.

If the washing machine is front-loading, then finding a drain pump filter will be easy. We pay attention to the end of the body, more precisely, to its lower right corner. We find a rectangular panel, pry it up with a flat screwdriver, a knife or scissors, unhook the latches and remove the cover. Afterwards we find a round black lid. This is the “trash bin” we are looking for.front cameras have a filter behind a narrow front panel

For vertical loading equipment

Top-loading models have the tank on top. Due to this, the machine often has greater capacity with smaller dimensions, but that’s not what we’re talking about. The main thing is that the garbage filter is located almost identically to the front machines. Finding a drainage spiral is easy.

  1. We find the technical hatch door in the lower part of the body (for most machines it is round and is located on the left).
  2. Carefully pry the hatch open with a flat screwdriver.
  3. Unhook all the latches and remove the panel.

Do not forget to be careful, since it is very easy to break the tight Indesit latches, and without them the hatch door will not fall into place. Once the panel is safely removed, look for the black “washer” on the right side of the hole. This is the drain filter cover.

Unscrew and clean

There is no need to rush - you need to prepare before unscrewing the filter. The plastic covers the drain hole, and after its removal, waste water will flow out of it. In order not to cause a flood and not to damage the flooring and furniture, it is worth taking precautions. We must remove the built-in washing machine from the unit or cabinet, not forgetting to disconnect it from communications. Next, we cover the space with old rags and place a capacious container under the “trash bin” lid.

Do not unscrew the filter immediately after the end of the cycle, otherwise you may get burned by boiling water.

Now we can begin. It is not difficult to remove the filter: just grab the protrusion on the lid with your fingers and, turning the part counterclockwise, pull it towards you. If the spiral does not give in, then the problem is scale, hair or a stuck object. In this case, the matter is solved with WD-40 or knocking out the plastic with a hammer. The removed filter must be cleaned. It's done like this.

  1. We manually remove curled hair or stuck dirt.
  2. We rinse the nozzle under the tap.rinse the filter under running water
  3. If necessary, clean with an old toothbrush or toothpick.
  4. If you can’t deal with the stains, soak the spiral in a cleaning solution of water and citric acid for 1-3 hours. Such a measure, among other things, will get rid of limescale and unpleasant odors.

You need to soak the filter in cold water: at low temperatures, citric acid works better, and the plastic does not deform, as when using boiling water.

It’s better to immediately take care of the snail – the hole for the filter. Shine it with a flashlight, and if you find debris, clean the entire surface. As soon as everything is cleaned, dry the spiral and return it to its place, screwing it clockwise. The drain filter is easy to deal with. The main thing is to take your time and follow the instructions described above.

Ahh, that’s how it is :) I’ve already decided that my old Indesit doesn’t have a filter at all. I thought it was somehow strange, but it turns out he’s behind the panel :)
