How to use a dryer correctly?

Dryers, which are used for household needs, are gaining more and more popularity. Despite the fact that equipment is expensive and requires additional space, housewives are increasingly equipping their homes and apartments with it. Having installed a dryer, owners do not always know exactly how to use the clothes dryer correctly so as not to spoil things, confuse operating modes and damage equipment. The rules for its operation are simple and can be applied to most models.

Organize laundry into piles

In order to dry the laundry efficiently and evenly, you must first sort it and then carefully straighten it. When sorting, it is better to focus not on the type and color of the fabric, as when washing, but on the degree of humidity and the intensity of drying.

Before putting things into the machine, you can also distribute them by size. Underwear and bedding or clothing should not be placed in the same pile. To ensure that small items do not get lost among large items, you need to check bedding and clothing, fasten buttons, hooks or zippers on duvet covers, pillowcases, blouses, sweaters and other items. It is better to tie the belts and ties together.

Setting the drying mode

So that after drying the laundry not only becomes dry, but is also pleasant to the touch, does not lose shape, or deteriorate, it is important to choose the right operating mode. All programs provided in drying machines are divided into two groups. One allows you to set a specific drying time, the other takes into account the residual moisture of things.It is the last group, humidity drying modes, that are predominantly used in modern models. Other programs are often offered as auxiliary functions.

Dryers are equipped with many programs. Owners of equipment most often use the “closet” and “under the iron” modes. The first allows you to take the item out of the drum and immediately put it on, or hang it in the closet. When using the "Iron" program, the laundry remains slightly damp so that it can be easily ironed.

Many machines are equipped with super or extra drying modes. They cannot be used to dry cotton or linen, as the fabrics may shrink and become stiffer. They can only be dried on delicate settings.

Important! The super drying program is suitable for thick fabrics or multi-layered items.

The operating modes of dryers can be classified according to the type of items, for example, sportswear or jeans, as well as the composition of the fabrics:

• cotton;
• linen;
• woolen;
• synthetic.

Some models, for example those released under the Miele brand, have other operating modes. Before you start using this equipment, you need to read the instructions. As a rule, it contains tables describing programs and the corresponding types of linen and fabric compositions.

Use helper functions

One of the useful auxiliary programs is ventilation, or “cold blowing”. During operation, things inside the device are blown with air flow. This mode helps remove unpleasant odors or get rid of stuck-on pet hair without having to wash your clothes.

Some models of the Miele, Bosch, Siemens brands are equipped with an anti-crease function.When the main operating cycle of the machine is completed, the drum continues to rotate at certain time intervals for 1–3 hours. Thanks to this, the fabric does not cake and wrinkles do not form on it. But this option has one drawback: laundry that remains in the machine drum for a long time may become overdried. Therefore, experts advise taking things out immediately after the washing machine cycle has completed.

Manufacturers Gorenie, Miele, Bosch, Siemens equip their equipment with special baskets designed for laundry that cannot withstand mechanical stress. It is dried with warm air. The baskets are installed inside the drum. You can put woolen clothes and toys in them. Thanks to the basket, things do not move inside the drum, intense mechanical impact is eliminated.

Drying equipment maintenance

Once things are dry, it is important to take care of the condition of the machine. For domestic needs, condensation type models are most often used. After completing the work, the accumulated water must be poured out of the container intended for collecting condensate. If your dryer is equipped with a drain hose, this procedure is not necessary.

A mandatory requirement for caring for equipment is cleaning the fluff filters. They trap small particles of matter blown out of the laundry during drying. If the lint filter becomes clogged, your dryer will become less efficient and take longer to operate. The device consumes more resources. Filters can be cleaned manually or using a vacuum cleaner. This should be done carefully.

Attention! If the fluff filter is very dirty, it must be washed with water and then dried thoroughly.

After one cycle of operation of the device is completed, you need to let it stand for about 40 minutes before adding the next load of laundry and pressing the start button. If the dryer is used frequently, the heat exchanger must be cleaned. It is recommended to do this at intervals of 100 cycles. The heat exchanger must be rinsed with water and dried thoroughly. If the equipment is rarely used, it is enough to clean the heat exchanger twice a year. The instructions for the device provide rules for cleaning the heat exchanger. Before you start using the machine, you should familiarize yourself with them.
