Gorenje washing machine error codes

Gorenje washing machine error codesUnfortunately, error codes for Gorenje washing machines are not unified. There are two groups of washing machine models, each of which has its own independent self-diagnosis system. This is not very convenient, because in order for the user to find out the decoding of the error code that popped up on the display of his Gorenye washing machine, he first needs to find out which group of models it belongs to, then find the decoding of the errors of this group, and only then will it be possible to obtain reliable information about a specific error. We decided to simplify your task by collecting all the necessary information in one article.

Combustion with control system PG1-PG5

In this paragraph, we will present the error codes of Gorenje washing machines one by one, giving them first a brief and then a detailed explanation. Here we will give some reasons for these errors.

F1. This code tells us that the circuit has broken or a short circuit has occurred in the electrical circuit of the temperature sensor. This means that either the wiring supplying the temperature sensor and connecting it to the electronic module and heating element has broken, or the contacts have burned out.

Usually this error appears immediately after the washing machine fills with water, before washing.

F2. The control module does not receive a signal to close the hatch door. This means that the control module of the Gorenye washing machine does not receive a control signal from the hatch UBL, which means that the module generates an error and stops the washing program. In the vast majority of cases, this is caused by a faulty UBL, but there may be an open circuit between the UBL and the control module.

UBL failed

F3. After two attempts, the required minimum amount of water was not collected.This means that the washing machine tried to fill the tank with at least 4 minutes of water and failed. Then she tried again, spending another 4 minutes, then the control module stopped trying and issued code F3. Most often the reasons for this are:

  • low pressure in the water supply (its absence);
  • problems with the filling valve (clogged, broken);
  • in much rarer cases - a pressure switch.

F4. This error indicates a breakdown in communication between the Hall sensor and the control module of the Gorenje washing machine. In this case, either the tachometer simply burned out, or its contacts burned out, or the wiring broke. It is also possible that there is a problem with the electronic module, which cannot recognize the signal from the Hall sensor. The error occurs 3 minutes after the signal from the tachometer disappears. After this, the machine stops executing the washing program, fills the tank with cold water, and then drains it, then issues code F4. In car models with an inverter motor, approximately the same thing happens with the inverter.

F5. Failure of the semiconductor element (triac) that controls the motor. In this case, due to the corresponding semiconductor element, the control board cannot regulate the operation of the motor. The reasons for this may be a short circuit or excessive heating of the engine. The same error appears on models with an inverter motor.

F6. This error appears if the water in the tank heats up too slowly or does not heat up at all. When the heating element is activated, the control module, using a temperature sensor, monitors the increase in water temperature and checks against the indicators specified by the program. If the indicators diverge by more than 150C, the washing machine displays error F6 after completing the washing program.The peculiarity of this error is that the washing machine will in any case finish washing, rinsing and spinning, only then will issue the specified code. Possible reasons:

  • The temperature sensor is faulty;
  • heating element burned out;
  • The electronic module is faulty.

F7. This code will appear if the washing machine cannot pump out waste water and its level does not decrease below the “minimum” mark. The water level in the tank may not decrease at all, or decrease very slowly. Unlike cars of other brands, Gorenje repeats the draining procedure, if this does not give an effect, error F7 appears. The causes of error F7 can be considered:

  • malfunction or serious blockage of the pump;
  • garbage filter clogged;
  • loss of power supply to the drain pump;
  • the pressure switch has failed;
  • The control module is broken.

F8. This error means that the drum rotation speed is lower than that specified in the spin program. In other words, if the module detects that the drum is rotating at a speed below 100 rpm during spinning, F8 will pop up. Under normal conditions, the machine does not display such an error; it can only be detected when performing a service test. Why does this error occur? The motor burned out, the electronic module failed, the inverter broke (for certain car models), and the drive belt became loose.

F9. This error occurs in Gorenje washing machines equipped with the Aqua Stop system and means that water has entered the washing tray. The fact is that such machines have a special pan equipped with a leakage detection sensor. If the tank of the Gorenie machine or the pipe begins to leak, water will inevitably fall into the pan, the leakage sensor will work and the operation of the washing machine will be stopped.

At the same time, the Aqua Stop system turns off the heating element and urgently drains the water from the machine’s tank.

Gorenje WA 101, 121, 132, 162, 162P

Well, now, let’s list and decipher the diagnostic system codes for Gorenje WA 101, 121, 132, 162, 162P washing machines. Please note that the codes and their decoding differ quite significantly from the above system, so be careful.

F1. We will not describe this error code, since this has already been done in the previous paragraph. Its decoding is exactly the same.

F2. Within 8 minutes, the washing machine was unable to get the minimum amount of water into the tank. During the specified time, the Gorenje washing machine makes two attempts to draw water; if it fails, code F2 appears. There can be many reasons for this problem:

  • the filter mesh installed in front of the filling valve is clogged;
  • there is no water in the water supply;
  • water pressure is too low;
  • the filling valve does not work;
  • The pressure switch has failed.

F31. There is no connection between the tachometer and the control module. If the connection between the Hall sensor and the electronic module is broken, the system urgently stops the engine. Within 4 minutes, the module tries to restart the motor twice and if communication is not established, code F31 is issued. This error can be caused by a faulty Hall sensor, electrical communications suitable for it, or the control module itself.

F32. The electronic engine governor is faulty. On some models of Gorenye washing machines, a special electronic unit is installed that regulates the motor; if it burns out, the indicated error will appear.

F4. The temperature sensor recorded a discrepancy between the actual water temperature in the tank and the value specified in the program.If the heating element does not heat the water in the tank to the required temperature within the specified time, then at the end of the washing program code F4 is displayed. Permissible error +-150C. Causes: heating element or control module.

F41. The temperature sensor detected severe overheating of the water in the tank. In this case, the heating element heats the water in the tank to the maximum temperature, even if this is not determined by the washing program. To avoid overheating and damage to the heating element, the system urgently turns it off, and error F41 is displayed on the display. The reason is most likely in the semiconductor element (relay) of the control module.

Some people associate this code with a faulty temperature sensor. This approach is often incorrect, since it is the temperature sensor that in this case manages to detect overheating, but in very rare cases the fault lies with the temperature sensor.

F43. The heating element heats up too quickly. In this case, the system urgently stops the washing program and, accordingly, the operation of the heating element in order to prevent failure of this part and a possible fire. This can happen if the electronic module has activated the heating element when there is too little or no water in the tank. Reasons: the pressure switch is faulty, the tank is leaking, the control module is broken.

F5. A similar error can be seen if the Gorenje washing machine was unable to completely drain the water from the tank in 2 attempts within 4 minutes. After this, the user can press the program start button and the machine will try to drain the water again, if this attempt is unsuccessful, the washing machine will freeze completely. What could have happened?

  1. The pump is out of order and clogged.
  2. The power supply to the pump is interrupted.
  3. The garbage filter, drain pipe or hose is severely clogged.
  4. The pressure switch tube is clogged or it has simply burned out. It is also possible that the wiring supplying the water level sensor or the corresponding contacts is damaged.
  5. In rare cases, the electronic controller is to blame.

F61. When spinning, the drum rotates too slowly. To clarify the explanation of the error, it must be said that before the module displays code F61, it must determine the discrepancy in the drum rotation speed by at least 100 rpm, and for this you need to run a service test. During normal operation of the washing machine, this error will not appear. Reasons: faulty engine, control module, loose drive belt.

F63. The electronic unit that regulates the engine cannot communicate with the control module. The code appears immediately after a malfunction occurs. Causes: malfunction of the electronic unit, its electrical communications or control module.

Troubleshooting Options

We have talked about errors, their codes and explanations; all that remains is to briefly discuss how to eliminate the causes of these errors. For ease of understanding the material, we will list the above-described components and modules of Gorenje machines, and we will tell you how to repair them.

  1. Thermal sensor. The temperature sensor for Gorenje washing machines is located directly in the body of the heating element between its left contact and the central bolt. To check it, you need to set the multimeter to test resistance, disconnect the wires and take measurements. A burnt sensor cannot be repaired; it must be replaced. The temperature sensor wiring is also checked.
  2. Hatch locking device. The UBL, unlike a temperature sensor, can in some cases be repaired, or simply replaced.You can read about how best to do this in the publication Washing machine hatch locking device - how to replace the door lock?Pressostat on the Gorenje washing machine
  3. Filling valve. The fill valve regulates the flow of water into the washing machine. If it fails, the machine either cannot draw water, or, conversely, cannot shut it off. You can get to the filling valve by removing the top cover of the CM, but first you need to clean its filter. The filter is located at the base of the SM housing, at the connection point of the inlet hose; it is pulled out with ordinary pliers and washed under running water. You can check the filling valve itself with a multimeter.
  4. Water level sensor. The pressure switch of the Gorenje washing machine is also easy to get to. It is located at the top of the rear wall of the machine body, directly under the top cover. Repairing the pressure switch should begin by cleaning its tubes, then you can check its resistance with a multimeter. Only after this are the electrical communications suitable for this part checked.

In order not to overload this article with information, we decided to interrupt the description of options for repairing various modules of the Gorenje washing machine, especially since we have already done this earlier in the article Repair of washing machine faults DIY Gorenje. In it you will find a description of the repair of all components of interest, which means you can easily find how to eliminate the cause of a particular system error. However, keep in mind that in some cases it is better to entrust the repair to a professional, so as not to further harm the “home assistant”. Good luck!

    My “Goryusha” is 13 years old and I haven’t found a worthy replacement yet. We changed the brushes on the engine twice. Error F4, once the heating element. Error F6 and simultaneously with a dead heating element. I ran programs until the machine crashed, and then the board burned out - this is entirely my fault! It was only necessary to change the heating element in time! But I was lucky with the craftsmen, it’s working for now! After another 13 years of active use, one hinge on the hatch door sagged - the master said that “they sat on top of it” - perhaps they inadvertently touched the door, since I was “airing the tank” at night. For the first time in 13 years, the pump died, the machine did not give any errors, just at the end of the wash, water flowed from the laundry.At the last time the brushes on the engine were replaced, the master said that something on the motor was badly worn out due to an incorrect previous replacement of the brushes, and the motor would not be suitable for the next repair. I only want Burning! Please advise which is better, with an inverter or a conventional motor? I do between 3 and 7 washes every day.
