The lock on the Indesit washing machine is blinking

The lock on the Indesit washing machine is blinkingMost washing machines from Indesit have a lock indicator, which is a separate LED on the dashboard. Using this light, you can monitor the condition of the machine and promptly detect any malfunction. If the lock on the Indesit washing machine is blinking, but the equipment itself does not start or works intermittently, urgent diagnostics are needed. Such a “diagnosis” can result in serious consequences, so it is better to react correctly to the blinking light bulb.

Initial user actions

First of all, you need to weed out banal and frivolous reasons. It is likely that the user’s elementary inattention led to the blinking of the so-called key. Therefore, we forget about the UBL, board and heating element and answer the following questions one by one.

  • Does the machine take in water? If the centralized water supply is turned off or there is insufficient pressure in the pipes, then the machine, for safety reasons, will not start the cycle. The electronic unit will receive a signal that dialing is impossible, to which the “brain” of the washing machine will respond by turning on the signal lock indicator. The fact is that starting a heating element with an empty tank will quickly lead to fire of the first and damage to the second.
  • Is the door closed tightly? Tightness is one of the main conditions for the safe operation of a washing machine. When the hatch is not completely closed, a leak is possible, threatening both the room and the equipment itself. The protective system is activated and the corresponding light comes on.The situation can be corrected simply: open the door, check if there are any objects stuck between it and the body, and press until it clicks.check if the hatch is open
  • Were there any power outages? Indesit machines are characterized by weak electronics, and minor surges in the power supply can also lead to a software failure in the board. Most often, rebooting the system helps clear the error. We disconnect the washing machine from the power supply, wait 10-20 minutes, start it, select the “Drain and Spin” mode and evaluate the behavior of the machine. If the situation repeats itself, then the matter is more serious than a single “glitch”.

Most often, in order for the lock light to go out, it is enough to eliminate one of the above reasons. If nothing from the list helps, it’s time to bring in the “heavy artillery.” The tactics are the same - we move from simple and fast to complex and labor-intensive.

Repair of hinges and UBL

There is no need to change the UBL right away. First, it is recommended to inspect the door lock, or rather, the tongue on it. If the latch has moved or broken, it should be repaired. The door hinges, which become bent due to children hanging on the hatch and wet clothes hanging on it, could also be damaged. Due to the weight, the door sags, does not close tightly or jams. In this case, only replacement will help. The loops are replaced as follows.

  1. We disconnect the machine from communications.
  2. Open the door, use pliers to loosen the outer clamp and insert the cuff into the drum.
  3. Disconnect the wiring from the door UBL.
  4. We find the technical hatch in the lower right corner and unscrew the bolt holding the front panel of the machine.
  5. Loosen the two screws securing the top cover of the machine.
  6. Remove the detergent tray from the machine.
  7. In the hole vacated after the tray we find two self-tapping screws and remove them with a screwdriver.
  8. We remove a few more screws around the perimeter of the dashboard and carefully unhook the last one from the latches.
  9. Unscrew the bolts holding the end of the machine and remove the front panel.
  10. We unscrew the plastic casing behind which the door hinges “hide”, and then remove the hinges themselves.
  11. We purchase new hinges and put them in place of the old ones.
  12. We assemble the machine in reverse order.

Once the tongue and hinges are checked, turn on the machine and see whether the lock light blinks or not. If the situation repeats, then pay attention to the hatch locking device. Replacing a faulty UBL is easy: you just need to buy an original part and follow the simple instructions.

A new UBL is selected according to the serial number of the Indesit machine, which is indicated in the technical data sheet of the washing machine or on the inside of the hatch door on a special marking.

When the door is jammed and will not open, you will have to unlock the system manually. Remove the top cover of the machine, feel for the lock with your hand and slide the latch to open the door. As soon as the hatch opens, you can begin replacing the UBL.

Pressure switch or heater

A lit lock indicator often indicates interruptions in the operation of the pressure switch. If the water level sensor does not signal that the tank is full, the self-diagnosis system detects the breakdown, stops the intake and reports the error with the appropriate indication. Finding the water meter is not difficult: it is located on the right side of the washer under the top cover. Diagnostics is carried out as follows: first, the device is inspected for the integrity of the body and tube, then the presence of blockages, the quality of adjustment and the reliability of contacts are checked. If any malfunctions are noticed, the device is replaced with a new one.check the pressure switch tube

The “Key” light also comes on when the heater is broken. Here the situation is more complicated, because the machine will wash in cold water if the heating element is not working, but there is a high risk of fire and current leakage to the body. For the sake of your own safety and the safety of your property, it is worth assessing the performance of the heating element: remove the back panel, inspect the wiring and measure the resistance readings with a multimeter. If the values deviate from the norm, we purchase a new device and install it instead of the old one.

The problem with the electronic "brain"

The problem may also be hidden in the control board. Due to moisture getting on the contacts or electronic unit, a sudden voltage drop or software failure, resistors on the module burn out and the terminals become loose. As a result, the signal from the UBL, pressure switch, heating element or other elements of the washing machine does not reach the “brain”, and washing does not start.

Diagnosing or repairing the board yourself is too risky. It is better not to experiment, but to entrust this matter to the service center specialists.

Thank you, it worked. The button stuck without flushing. But then it still wouldn’t turn on. Draining and spinning helped. The hardest part was removing the cover.
