The door of the Indesit washing machine does not open

The door of the Indesit washing machine does not openNormally, the door of an automatic machine remains locked for several minutes after the end of the wash. This is due to the fact that the metal plate present in the UBL must cool down. Only then will the lock be activated and the hatch can be opened. If the door of the Indesit washing machine does not open after half an hour, most likely there is a problem. Let's figure out how to deal with the problem and get the washed items out of the unit.

Options for retrieving laundry

Before you begin the repair, you need to remove the clothes locked inside. Washing machine manufacturers recommend waiting about 5 minutes and only then trying to unload laundry from the drum.

But if, after an hour after the end of the program, the machine does not open, you should act.

Let's look at one of the most common cases: the machine does not open the door because there is water left in the tank. What to do in such a situation? You need to try to restart the “Rinse”, “Drain”, or “Spin” mode.

Wait until the machine completes the specified program, then try to open the door again. If it is blocked and the drum is still filled with water, you will have to check the elements of the drainage system. Inspect the drain hose to see if there is a blockage in it. If this is the case, clean the tube with special means. Then connect the drain hose to its original place and try to remove water from the drum by turning on one of the above modes.

Sometimes the washing machine simply does not respond to commands given by the user. Therefore, it is not possible to automatically drain the water from the tank.You will have to do this manually, through a garbage filter. The algorithm of actions will be as follows:

  • Cover the floor in the filter area with dry rags and place a low container on them;
  • open the hatch at the bottom of the washing machine;
  • unscrew the plug of the filter element;
  • Collect the water flowing out of the hole.

Next, you need to unlock the hatch lock with your own hands. You should prepare a thin rope and a knife. At the location of the lock, between the hatch and the body of the washing machine, a rope is applied and pressed inward with the tip of a knife. The cord must be pulled in both directions until a click is heard, after which the door swings open without any problems.opening the door with a rope

If the rope did not help open the drum, you can do it in a more complicated way. Turn off the power to the machine, unscrew the bolts securing the top cover of the device body, and remove it. Then reach the UBL with your hand through the open top of the washer. Feel for the locking tab and slide it off. After this, the SMA will open.

Possible faults

The water remaining in the tank after washing is far from the only factor for blocking the door. The Indesit washing machine can fail for several reasons. Most often we are talking about the following problems:

  • broken hatch handle. This problem is far from uncommon, especially in families with small children;
  • UBL malfunction. Due to normal wear and tear, the mechanism may fail. The reason is still typical for machines that have been in use for several years;
  • incorrect operation of electronics. For example, a pressure switch that measures the amount of water in a tank can transmit a signal that the drum is full, but in reality the tank is empty. In this case, the repair will consist of replacing the level sensor.

If you cannot independently identify the reason why the door does not open after washing, it is better to contact a service center.

When water lingers in the tank after spinning, the drain system may need to be cleaned or replaced. If the “brain” of the machine interprets the signals incorrectly, you will have to change the sensors, repair the control board or the wiring connecting the nodes.

Checking and changing UBL

A common reason for the inability to open the washing machine drum is a faulty UBL. To check the mechanism, you will have to remove it. You must proceed as follows:

  • turn off the power to the washing machine;
  • open the hatch;
  • bend the sealing collar, loosen the latch and remove its outer clamp;
  • pull the elastic band to the left - so you will see the locking device;
  • unscrew the two bolts holding the lock;
  • release the latches and remove the blocker.

Once the UBL is in your hands, you can begin to diagnose it. To check the hatch locking device, you will need a multimeter and a lock circuit.

You can independently diagnose only the thermoelement, the purpose of which is to heat the plates. Set the multimeter to resistance measurement mode. Place the tester probes against the neutral contact and the UBL phase. If the device shows a three-digit number, the blocker is working. Next, apply the multimeter probes to the neutral and common contacts. If the tester displays “0” or “1”, then the UBL is faulty. If you need to replace the lock, follow the following installation algorithm:repairing UBL

  • connect the wiring to the new UBL;
  • Place the device behind the wall of the SMA case, insert it into the hole for the lock;
  • tighten the fixing bolts;
  • straighten the cuff, put the clamp in place.

Now you know what to do if the washer door does not open. First, check that there is no water in the tank, then manually remove the lock. Then proceed to diagnose the machine elements.
