Bosch dishwasher does not switch programs

If you notice that the programs on your Bosch dishwasher do not switch, do not rush to call a technician. In some cases, the problem is quite easy to deal with. Let's figure out what to do in such a situation, how to revive the dishwasher.

How does the problem manifest itself?

It is very simple to understand that the dishwasher does not change the program. The problem manifests itself as follows: after turning on the machine, Auto mode starts by default. Symptoms are usually:

  • the Auto program is selected immediately after turning on the PMM, the cycle duration is about two and a half hours;Auto mode in a Bosch dishwasher
  • attempts to switch modes remain unsuccessful, and pressing the buttons on the dishwasher’s dashboard is confirmed by blinking indicators;
  • The cycle starts automatically after closing the door.

A Bosch dishwasher may get stuck in Auto mode for various reasons. Sometimes this is a short-term system failure, in some cases it is a breakdown of the control module. First you need to try to simply reset the error and return the machine to working capacity.

Troubleshooting options

Usually the problem can be solved without repairing the dishwasher. If it's a random system failure, then something like rebooting the dishwasher can help. You must press and hold the "Reset" for 3-5 seconds until the remaining time until the end of the program "00:01" is displayed on the PMM display.

Next, you need to wait 1 minute until the machine finishes the mode. After this, the dishwasher should be turned off using the button, then started again.Typically, such actions help reset the previous incomplete mode and restore the ability to select washing programs.

If this method does not help, you need to additionally open the dishwasher door at the end of the program. Only then does the PMM turn off and turn on again.

There is another simple method with which you can revive your dishwasher. It is necessary to start the machine and let it finish a program that was not completed earlier (for example, due to a power outage in the house). After this, the ability to select modes will be restored.

If the described methods do not help, you will have to call a dishwasher repairman. Further actions will require knowledge and experience in working with electronics, as well as the availability of special tools. You will need to disassemble the PMM and “work magic” on its main control module.

To repair a PMM that does not switch washing modes, you will need a programmer.

The algorithm of actions will be as follows:Bosch dishwasher control board

  • turn off the power to the dishwasher, disconnect from communications;
  • partially disassemble the dishwasher to get to the main control module;
  • disconnect the control board and remove it from the case;
  • remove the protective casing from the module;
  • find the eeprom 24c08wp chip on the control board;eeprom chip 24c08wp
  • use a hair dryer to disconnect the microcircuit from the module;
  • read data from the soldered chip using a special programmer;
  • using a laptop and a programmer, write this data to a new chip;
  • solder the new eeprom back onto the control board;
  • assemble the dishwasher body.

Then you need to hold down the “Reset” button for 3-5 seconds and wait until the display shows “00:01”. After a minute has passed, the machine turns off and starts again.After this, the programs will switch again.

The eeprom 24c08wp chip on the Bosch PMM control board fails and stops rewriting information, as a result of which the washing programs do not switch.

This microcircuit is a weak point on the control board of Bosch dishwashers. Writing to the eeprom is carried out continuously both during the execution of the washing program and when turning the machine on/off. Therefore, a banal voltage surge during PMM operation can lead to failure of the element. You will need to replace it, having first transferred data from the old part to the new one.
