Ardo washing machine does not start
Typical breakdowns of Ardo washing machines include malfunctions in which the machine does not start washing. In this situation, the machine either does not start drawing water, or stops remembering commands given by the user, or does not spin the drum. The Ardo washing machine does not start, usually due to a broken door lock, broken programmer or faulty motor. Let’s figure out what to do in such a situation, how to return the equipment to working capacity on our own.

What to do if you notice that the machine does not start washing? We will have to identify the cause of the failure. On vertical units, problems with starting the cycle are most often observed due to the failure of the door lock. This is a special mechanism that does not allow the “brain” to start the washing machine when the drum doors are open. On certain Ardo models, the sensor also monitors the process of water entering the system.
If the UBL breaks down, the control module does not receive a signal allowing the start of washing, and the automatic machine does not start working.
To “fix” the car, you will have to fix the lock. First of all, you should check the device to find out whether it is working properly or not. On vertical machines, the lock is located under the cover, namely the control panel. The locking mechanism is activated by a special pin located on the loading hatch doors. When the drum is closed, the lock is activated and the equipment begins washing. If the “vertical” does not want to start the cycle, you should check:
- are there any defects or damage to the locking mechanism;
- Are the levers and other elements of the blocker in order?
- Are the switch contacts stuck?
If the drum flaps are closed, but the machine does not start drawing water and the electric motor does not start working, most likely the problem is a broken lock. It is necessary to dismantle the switch and perform diagnostics on it. The algorithm of actions is as follows:
- turn off the power to the washing machine;
- disconnect the wiring from the UBL;
- Use a multimeter to check the device.
If the blocker's failure is confirmed, you will have to replace it with a new device. There is no point in trying to repair the mechanism by closing the contact group with a jumper. This is unsafe and may lead to spontaneous combustion of equipment in the future.
UBL on the front
Front-loading machines may also not start washing due to a faulty hatch lock. The device is located on the right, in the door opening behind the front panel of the case. The mechanism only works when the washing machine is securely closed. If the hatch is not “slammed” tightly, the locking device will not work, and the “brain” will not receive a signal approving the start of the wash. Since the system will not be sealed, water will not flow into the tank, and therefore the machine will not start.
In this case, you will also have to remove the UBL and check it with a special device - a multimeter. To do this, you need to turn off the power to the automatic machine, remove the lid of the washing machine, remove the wiring from the locking mechanism and remove it from the housing.
Is the program switch knob working?
A non-functioning programmer can prevent the cycle from starting. When selecting and switching modes, the selector must be locked in the desired position. If the handle is faulty, this does not happen and the user cannot set the necessary washing parameters.Therefore, the machine does not start working. The programmer in many models is an integral part of the timer. However, this does not prevent you from checking the selector with a multimeter. What to do in this situation:
- turn off the power to the automatic machine;
- remove the “top” of the case by unscrewing a couple of bolts holding the cover;
- inspect the electrical circuit of the device;
- find the selector contacts;
- use a tester to ring the contacts.
Some modern Ardo machines have a digital selector. In this case, the device is not tied to the timer, but is built into the control board circuit. Here the programmer is more difficult to check - you need to apply the multimeter probes by activating the “Start” key.
The engine is to blame
It happens that Ardo does not start due to problems with the electric motor. If the UBL is triggered, water begins to flow into the machine and that’s all - it’s probably a problem with the motor. The engine “forces” the drum to rotate, due to which the laundry “spins”, is rinsed and spun. It is not difficult to suspect problems with the electric motor. In this case, the hatch lock is activated, the machine hums, water may begin to fill, but the drum “stands” in place. When all the signs are present, you should check the engine.
When diagnosing an electric motor, it is important to follow safety rules.
The front-wheel drive engine is located below, behind the rear panel of the housing, under the tank. To gain access to the motor, you will have to remove the back wall. First, you should remove the belt and try to start the engine without it. For SMA Ardo with direct drive, you will have to temporarily remove the soft clutch. If the motor operates without disconnected parts, the machine may be malfunctioning due to damage to the drum shaft or pump failure.
When the engine simply hums at idle when disconnecting parts, without starting to rotate, it means that the problem is in it - you will have to repair or completely change the engine. When checking the operation of the engine, you should understand that the part is under high voltage. Current leakage can lead to dire consequences. Therefore, when performing diagnostics, you need to be extremely careful. Factory defects, wear, and mechanical damage can lead to “cycling” of the motor.
If during the check none of the described reasons are confirmed, you will have to “dig” into the main control unit. It is not recommended to test the electronic module yourself, without the necessary knowledge and experience, otherwise you can only cause more damage to the machine. It is better to entrust diagnostics and repair of the board to a specialist.
