Error D02 in a Brandt washing machine

Error D02 in a Brandt washing machineWhat should I do if I detect error D02 displayed on the display of my Brandt washing machine? You can invite a specialist to diagnose and fix the problem, and pay him a decent amount for the services. Or you can independently find out the causes of the damage and try to reset the fault code. Let's figure out what actions you should take when carrying out repairs yourself.

Where did the error come from?

What to do first? Initially, you should look inside the washer. On front-facing models, you can simply look through the glass of the hatch; owners of “vertical” windows need to open the top cover and inspect the drum. Error D02 informs about problems with draining waste fluid from the tank.

With this fault code, water is either drained too slowly or is not removed from the system at all.

What will have to be fixed? Initially, inspect the drain hose for kinks or blockages. If damage to the drain hose is detected, repair it. Next, you need to check the integrity of the mesh filter, see if it is clogged (the element is located in front, at the bottom of the SMA housing). Error D02 may indicate a failure of the pump or damage to the connections in the drain system.

Clean or change the pump

A preliminary check of the serviceability of the drain pump of a Brandt washing machine can be carried out without disassembling the device. To do this, remove the garbage filter and, using a flashlight, look into the hole formed. Turn the impeller - if it rotates without any interference, then the pump is working normally. If rotation slows down, the pump may be broken or clogged.

For further repairs with your own hands, you need to gain access to the pipes and drain pump. To carry out the work you will need a set of screwdrivers and pliers. The algorithm of actions will be as follows:brandt pump replacement

  • turn off the power to the washing machine;
  • disconnect the machine from communications;
  • move the Brandt washing machine away from the wall;
  • cover the floor with a blanket and place the machine on its side;
  • if there is a bottom, unscrew the retaining bolts and remove the pan;
  • inspect the drain pipe, feel it to look for blockages or foreign objects in the cavity;
  • loosen the clamp holding the pipe, disconnect it from the pump;
  • Unscrew the screws holding the pump, carefully disconnect the wiring contacts and remove the pump from the housing;
  • disconnect the drain pipe from the SMA tank, rinse the tube under water pressure.

To further diagnose the breakdown, you should remove the pump from the cochlea. To do this, you will have to unscrew the bolts holding the elements together. Inspect the impeller. The cause of the error may be a piece of fabric wound around its wings, or hair that clogs the impeller. To fix the problem, you just need to clean the part.

If the pump is broken, you will have to purchase a new pump, since it cannot be repaired.

The part is purchased in specialized stores according to the model name of the Brandt washing machine. The new pump is mounted inside the washing machine. Afterwards the wiring is connected to the pump. The pipe is attached at one end back to the tank, at the other end to the pump, and is secured with a clamp. The next stage is attaching the bottom. Cleaning the drain hose, repairing or completely replacing the pump will definitely help deal with error D02. It is better to check the machine after repair on a long wash cycle.

    Thank you very much, you helped a lot!
    It appears that the impeller was not spinning due to a small foreign object. I just don’t understand how he slipped past the filter.
