Error E2 in Haier washing machine

Error E2 in Haier washing machineIn modern washing machines, the self-diagnosis system can accurately determine any breakdown, which is why there are so many error codes. Error E2 in a Haier washing machine is considered one of the most common, although not the most serious. It informs the user that the hatch door is not locked, and it has not been possible to lock it for the last 20 seconds. Sometimes this can be fixed by simply opening the door manually and then closing it again. But if this does not help, then you will have to move on to diagnostics.

The lock stopped working properly

If it was not possible to eliminate the E2 fault code so easily, then you need to listen to the sounds that the door makes. When the mechanical lock works and you clearly hear the first click, but do not hear the second, then the problem is in the hatch locking device. Abbreviated as UBL, this is an element responsible for auxiliary fixation of the lock, providing additional protection. This mandatory stage of protection prevents the hatch from being accidentally opened during the operating cycle. Therefore, without this electronic unit, the Haier washing machine will refuse to start the program.problems with UBL

If the UBL does not work for some reason, the display will continuously display fault code E2. What exactly could be causing this to happen?

  • Wear of the unit. Due to prolonged use, the UBL bimetallic plates wear out and lose electrical conductivity. Repair in this situation is impossible - only complete replacement of the element.
  • UBL blockage. The blocking may not work due to a simple blockage. This could be hair, wool, threads, or other contaminants that have gotten inside the device. In this case, you can disassemble the part yourself and remove all debris.
  • Malfunction of the CM control board. The control module is a kind of “brain” of the entire Haier washing machine. Therefore, if something is wrong with him, then UBL simply does not receive commands from him. It may be due to burnt board tracks, semistors, firmware, or a one-time failure. It is recommended to try restarting the “home assistant”, and if this does not help, initiate a full check of the control module.

You should not repair and diagnose the control board yourself, since without the proper experience and knowledge there is a high risk of further damaging the unit.

The first two causes of the malfunction are easy to check and fix with your own hands at home. For the third, you will have to call a service center specialist who has not only special education, but also the equipment necessary for repairs. In addition, it is worth considering that it is not dangerous to damage the UBL, because it is not very expensive. At the same time, the control module, in some situations, can cost as much as a new washing machine, so it’s definitely not worth experimenting with it.

Lock test and replacement

Don't rush to buy a new sunroof locking device, because sometimes replacement is not necessary. First of all, you need to check its serviceability, for which you will need to remove the part from the seat and evaluate it with a multimeter. What should I do for this?

  • Disconnect the machine from the power supply and water supply.
  • Open the hatch door. If the problem catches you at the stage when the door is closed mechanically, you will have to unscrew the top cover of the case, tilt the CM back, stick your hand into the lock device and use a screwdriver to move the latch. The same can be done from below if you remove the bottom of the washing machine.checking and replacing UBL on the front camera
  • Loosen the outer clamp on the hatch cuff, and then tuck it inside.
  • Find the lock, remove the screws securing it, and then the lock itself.
  • Disconnect the wiring from the UBL.

It is advisable to take a photo of the correct connection of the wires so that you have an example at hand later.

  • Remove the hatch locking device.

Once the part is removed, you can begin the test. Please study the Haier user manual first to know the electronic circuit of the UBL. Next you need to take a regular multimeter, switch it to resistance measurement mode, set the probes to “zero” with “phase”, and evaluate the readings on the display. The device is operational when a three-digit number is displayed on the display, otherwise it will require replacement. Additionally, it is worth checking the grounding with the common contact - if the device shows “1” or “0”, then the UBL is normal.testing UBL with a multimeter

Do not attempt to repair the sunroof locking device. Its parts are considered disposable, and the UBL itself is very cheap, so it is much more efficient and faster to simply replace it. Take the failed part to the store as an example, or simply write down the serial number of your washing machine so that the store consultant can find the item you need. Replace according to our instructions in reverse order, not forgetting the safety precautions.
