Error E25 on a Siemens dishwasher

Error E25 on a Siemens dishwasherWhat does error E25, displayed on the PMM display, indicate? This fault code indicates that the Siemens dishwasher cannot discharge water into the drain. Why is there no drain? Which nodes should you check first? Let's look into the nuances.

Why is there no drain?

Usually you can fix error E25 yourself. Therefore, when you see this fault code on the display, there is no need to panic. The reason for the malfunction of the Siemens dishwasher may be:

  • kinked drain hose;
  • clogged garbage filter;
  • clogged pump or drain pipe;
  • broken pressure switch;
  • damaged control module.

First, inspect the dishwasher drain hose. It may have become bent and now the water is not going down the drain. Also, draining will be difficult if a heavy object is placed on top of the corrugation. It would be a good idea to feel the sleeve for blockages. If you find a garbage plug, rinse the hose.drain hose needs to be flushed

Next in line for inspection is the garbage filter. It is installed inside the Siemens dishwasher, at the bottom of the hopper. The filter element becomes clogged with food debris, fruit seeds, and broken glass shards. Clean the assembly, this may help reset the error code.

The PMM garbage filter must be cleaned regularly - preferably after each use of the dishwasher.

Small debris that has leaked through the filter can clog the drain pump or the pipe connecting the pump to the washing chamber. This also leads to disruption of fluid outflow. The solution to the problem is to clean the parts.

A broken pressure switch may also be the culprit for the error code.A damaged level sensor sends unreliable information to the module about the amount of water in the chamber. As a result, the electronic unit does not give the command to drain.

It is extremely rare that error E25 indicates a breakdown of the control module. However, if all possible causes have been ruled out, you will have to check the unit. It controls the operation of all PMM elements, so if it malfunctions, any code can be displayed on the display.

Cleaning the Siemens PMM filter element

The easiest way is if the Siemens dishwasher produces E25 due to a clogged drain hose or garbage filter. In this case, you can fix the problem yourself, literally in a few minutes. It will be enough to carry out the usual cleaning procedure.

What to do first? First, rinse the drain hose. For this:

  • turn off the power to the dishwasher;
  • disconnect the hose from the PMM body and the connection point to the sewer;
  • rinse the corrugation under running warm water;
  • put the drain hose back in place.

After this, you need to clean the garbage filter. The algorithm of actions will be as follows:

  • open the PMM door, remove the dish baskets from the hopper;
  • find the filter - it is located at the bottom of the washing chamber;unscrew the dishwasher filter
  • remove the assembly from the machine, rinse all parts of the structure in warm water;
  • take out the filter mesh and also remove dirt from it;
  • remove the drain pump cover and check the movement of the impeller, remove any debris stuck between the blades;dishwasher filter seat
  • return all removed elements to their place, thereby reassembling the filter assembly.

After this, you need to turn on the machine to the network and start the test cycle. If the water still does not go down the drain, you will have to check other parts of the Siemens dishwasher. Next in line is the PMM drain pump.

The pump doesn't work

To check the dishwasher drain pump, you will have to partially disassemble its housing. No special knowledge or tools are required - all you need to do is follow the instructions for action. To diagnose the pump:

  • turn off the power to the machine;
  • close the shut-off valve responsible for the water supply;
  • disconnect the drain and inlet hose from the PMM body;
  • take out the garbage filter, wipe the hole dry with a sponge;
  • place the dishwasher on the floor;
  • remove the screws securing the machine tray;we remove the plastic elements of the PMM pallet
  • remove the bottom cover by carefully disconnecting the float sensor wiring;
  • disconnect the wires connected to the drain pump;
  • unscrew the bolts securing the pump;dishwasher pump
  • remove the pump from the machine.

It is better to take a photograph of the wiring diagram for the pump so as not to make any mistakes during reassembly.

Pump diagnostics are performed in two stages. First, check the rotation speed of the impeller. The blades may be broken or blocked by a foreign object.

Next, the pump is tested with a multimeter. The device is switched to resistance measurement mode, and its probes are applied to the pump contacts. The readings on the display should be within 200 ohms.

If the pump is simply clogged with debris, then cleaning it will help solve the problem. A burnt-out drain pump cannot be repaired; it will need to be replaced. Components are purchased for a specific model of Siemens dishwasher.

PMM does not have water level data

If everything is in order with the elements of the drainage system, and water does not go down the drain, check the pressure switch. The level sensor determines the fullness of the washing chamber and transmits this information to the control module. Based on this data, the “brain” decides whether to start the drain.

If the pressure switch is broken, it can transmit information about the lack of water in the hopper while the chamber is being filled. The control module will not start draining. To check the level sensor you will also have to look under the dishwasher.checking the PMM pressure switch

The pressure switch, like the pump, is located below the PMM. It is a small round plastic box to which a pressure tube is connected. The check is performed as follows:

  • using pliers, disconnect the tube from the sensor;
  • Unscrew the fasteners and remove the pressure switch from the machine;
  • attach the multimeter probes to the sensor terminals and measure the resistance.

Having identified a malfunction, do not attempt to repair the level sensor. It is much easier and more reliable to buy and install a new pressure switch. If even after replacing the element the machine does not drain water, you will have to check the control module. It is better to invite a specialist to diagnose the board.
