Error E33 in Zanussi washing machine

Error E33 in Zanussi washing machineIf code E33 appears on the display of your Zanussi washing machine, carefully unplug the power cord from the outlet without touching any metal parts of the appliance. Such precaution will not hurt, since if such an error occurs, the washing machine can pose a danger. Now you can start troubleshooting.

Finding the heating element

Fault code E33 is often associated with current leakage from the heater to the washer body. The heating element of Zanussi equipment can be located at the back or front, depending on the design of the model. To determine its location, use technical documentation or inspect the car yourself. If there are large protruding elements on the back panel, the heating element is probably located there.

If upon inspection it turns out that the rear removable part of the Zanussi washing machine does not have large protruding elements, then you need to look for the heater from the front. Depending on the position of the heating element, it will be necessary to remove the back or front panel of the machine. If you are in doubt and cannot decide, start from the back; the back wall is much easier to remove and install back than the front.

The heating element burned out and collapsed

We carefully check and change the heating element

Repairs begin with dismantling the heater itself. Let's consider a situation where the electric heater is located in the lower part of the case behind the rear panel. Turn the unit towards you, unscrew the retaining bolts and remove the panel. Then find the heating element. It is not difficult to recognize: the base of the part looks like a metal ellipse with protrusions - contacts, a pin and a thermistor.

Attention! Be sure to turn off the power and disconnect your Zanussi washing machine from the water supply before you begin disassembling!

Let's start diagnosing it ourselves. Pre-photograph all components. Carefully disconnect the wiring from the heating element. Turn on the multimeter, set it to “Resistance” mode with a value of 200. Connect the probes to the appropriate contacts.

A value within 24-40 Ohms indicates that everything is in order. One will indicate an internal break, and zero will indicate a short circuit. Unfortunately, in the latter case, nothing can be corrected; you will have to buy and install a new electric heater.

carefully check the heating element with a multimeter

Now we check the part for a breakdown. Having reset the previous mode, turn on the “Buzzer” option on the multimeter and connect the probe to the contact. If you hear a signal, the heating element will also have to be changed. To do this you need to dismantle it:

  • place a container under the heating element: if there is water left inside the tank, it may spill out during dismantling and flood the wiring;
  • remove the wire terminals, remembering in advance which terminal is connected to which part of the heater;
  • unscrew the grounding bolt (located in the middle of the base) not completely, press the pin away from you;
  • grab the contacts of the heating element and carefully pull the part towards you.

The process may be complicated by a seal that has grown during operation and blocks the device. What to do in this case - treat the gum with WD-40 and wait about a quarter of an hour. Then remove the thermistor, unscrew the bolt and, by swinging it, pull out the heating element.

When going for a new heating element, first find the stamped serial number on the body of the old one. Before installing the part, clean the seat. Next, assembly is performed in reverse order. Now you know what to do if your Zanussi car shows error E33.Happy renovation!
