EHO error in Electrolux washing machine

EHO error in Electrolux washing machineIf, upon startup, the display shows an EHO error in the Electrolux washing machine, then this signals, first of all, a problem with the power supply to the unit. Branded equipment is sensitive to voltage drops in the electrical network or breakdowns of power supplies. Reset the washing machine. If the fault code is still on, then you need to deal with the problem.

Why did this happen?

The instructions for the Electrolux washing machine do not describe an error with such a code, so what should you do when the washing machine freezes with such a signal? The cause of the malfunction will have to be sought first of all:faulty socket

  • malfunction of the socket, plug or power surges.
  • the external power cable of the machine itself is crushed or shorted.
  • short the wires inside the unit.
  • The interference filter is faulty.
  • electronic module is broken.

Diagnostics should begin with the simplest media, gradually eliminating the causes of Electrolux malfunction.

Let's deal with conductors and contacts

First, check that the outlet is working properly. It may be old or poorly installed. The first sign of a breakdown is the heating of the case when the devices are turned on. If overheating is not observed, then plug in another gadget. If it does not work, then the reason lies in a wiring fault. Check the outlet with a multimeter.

Important! Do not use an extension cord for testing. It may cause a short circuit and fire.

If the electrical wiring is working properly, your next step is to reset the washing machine.FPS washing machine Electrolux

  1. Disconnect the machine from the power supply and wait 3–40 seconds.
  2. Reconnect your device to the network.
  3. Select a wash program.

If the fault code appears on the display again, diagnose the FPS (surge filter). Its task is to equalize voltage drops so as not to damage the expensive microcircuits of the unit. The FPS is a barrel-shaped part and is located at the input of the machine’s electrical circuit behind the power cord.

To get to the unit, you need to remove the cover of the washing machine. To do this, unscrew the two screws in the right and left corners of the top panel, then use two palms to push the cover towards you and lift it up. Disconnect the FSP from the wiring contacts and remove it from the housing.

To check the network filter with a multimeter in ringing mode, measure the resistance between the contacts in pairs. If the value is 0 or 1, then the part is burnt out and must be replaced. It is not possible to fix it yourself.

For full operation of the washing machine, it is necessary to install only original parts.

At 600 - 700 kOhm, the surge protector is in working condition. Therefore, you should continue the diagnostics and check the capacity of the FSP. The values should correspond to those on the case and be approximately 0.5 - 0.7 µF.

Electronic module

The next problem may be a malfunction of the electronic board. This complex electronic part is responsible for the operation of all Electrolux electronic components. Only a specialist can fully diagnose it. But a basic malfunction can be detected on your own. Burns, oxidation and damage are determined visually. To remove a part, you must follow the algorithm:electronic module

  • disconnect the machine from the power supply;
  • turn off the water supply;
  • remove the top cover;
  • unscrew the screws from the back, which are located next to the niche from the cuvette;
  • press the central latch and pull out the powder tray;
  • unscrew the 4 screws at the end around the perimeter of the electronic module (under the top cover of the washing machine);
  • lift up and unfasten the block latches;
  • disassemble the panel housing and carefully remove the board.

To correctly put the part back, take a photo of the wiring and connectors. Carefully inspect the panel, referring to the diagram. An image of the original Electrolux electronic module can be found on the Internet.

If you have basic knowledge of electronics, then with a multimeter you can determine what has burned out: resistors, thyristors, relays or the processor itself. When diagnosing, follow the control diagram for SMA (automatic washing machines). If no external defects are found, you must contact the SMA Electrolux branded service center.
