Error F05 in the Beko washing machine

Error F05 in the Beko washing machineThe built-in self-diagnosis system indicates to the user that the washing machine is malfunctioning immediately after a malfunction is detected. What to do if you see error F05 on the display on a Beko machine? What kind of breakdowns cause this code? What actions should be taken to return the machine to working condition? We'll figure out.

What does the code indicate?

All codes stored in the washing machine's memory indicate specific problems. By deciphering the designation, you can significantly narrow the range of possible breakdowns. Error F05 informs about problems with the drain system or pump. You can try to fix the washing machine yourself by inspecting and cleaning the pump.

It’s worth saying right away that if, when this code is displayed, the drain pump is fully operational, you will have to check the main control module, or, to be more precise, the triac responsible for communication with the pump. Without skills and knowledge, you shouldn’t get into the electronics of a Beko machine; you can only worsen the situation. A specialist should be invited to repair the unit.the reason is the pump

Start by cleaning the filter

What should you do first when you find code F05 on the display? You should observe the “behavior” of the washing machine, understand whether it pumps out at least some of the water from the tank or not. Find out at what stage of the wash the equipment froze, after the first drain or before it.

First, you should clean the garbage filter of your Beko machine. It is located at the front of the unit, in the lower right corner. The filter element is “hidden” behind a special panel or hatch. The algorithm of actions will be as follows:

  • disconnect the machine from the network;
  • if there are rugs near the machine, it is better to move them aside;
  • Cover the floor around the washing machine with dry rags or cellophane. This will protect the coating from moisture;
  • Prepare a low container to catch the water that will flow when you remove the filter. There is no need to drain the liquid directly onto the floor; it is better to immediately pour it into a basin;
  • slightly tilt the unit back so that its front legs rise, place a prepared container under the body in the place where the filter is located;
  • unscrew the plug. To begin, make a half turn from right to left, then pull the element towards you. At this stage, the water present in the tank and pipes will begin to flow out of the hole. The stopper will not allow the liquid to pour out “evenly” into the container, which is why you need to throw dry rags around the machine.need to clean the filter

Next, you need to clean the drain filter from debris. First, all dirt is cleaned off, then the element is washed under running warm water. If there is a layer of limescale on the surface, you can soak the part in a solution of citric acid. Dilute about 50 grams of lemon juice in 2-3 liters of water, put a garbage filter in there and leave for 5-8 hours. During this time, the scale will “soften” and can be easily cleaned off with a sponge.

Be sure to clear the hole left after removing the drain filter from debris and dirt.

It's better to arm yourself with a flashlight. Shine a light into the hole and clean off from its walls all the dirt that has accumulated inside after long-term use of the equipment. Look even deeper - perhaps hair and threads are wrapped around the impeller. Debris must be removed from the blades. If the filter was clean or washing it did not help reset error code F05, you will have to “dig” deeper.

Removing the drain pump

If the reason for the F05 code was not a clogged debris filter, you should check the drain pump.The pump is located inside the housing; getting to it requires some effort. During the work process you may need:

  • plus and slotted screwdrivers;
  • wrench;
  • container for collecting water.

Before you begin removing the element, it is important to turn off the power to the washing machine and turn off the shut-off valve responsible for the water supply. You can get to the pump in Beko washing machines through the bottom. For convenience, it is possible to lay the machine on its left side, having previously covered the floor with a carpet or blanket (so as not to scratch the body).remove the drain pump

First you need to remove the garbage filter; we have already explained how to do this. Afterwards you need to “turn over” the machine to gain free access to its bottom. On most models there is no pan, so you can see the drain pump right away. Next, you need to unscrew the bolts securing the pump inside the washer. Then you should disconnect the wiring and pipes. Afterwards, you can safely remove the drainage pump from the machine.

Cleaning and visual inspection of the pump

The pump impeller gets clogged the most, so repairs will consist of cleaning its cavities. To get to the part you will need a screwdriver. You should unscrew the screws connecting the two parts of the pump to each other. After separating the halves, you can see the impeller. Check the progress of its movement - in working condition it should rotate intermittently, but freely.

It is important to clean all debris from the impeller, remove hairs, threads, and lint wrapped around the blades.

You should act carefully so as not to damage the fragile part. It would also be a good idea to wipe the snail. Then you can begin reassembling the drain pump.cleaning the drain pump

Connect the previously removed pipes to the pump and secure them with clamps. Connect the wires and secure the pump in the housing.Then, once you have assembled your Beko washing machine, run a test wash. If the cycle runs normally, the machine will calmly complete all stages of the program, and will not make noise or buzz, which means the repair was performed correctly. If cleaning the pump does not help clear the F05 error code, check the part with a multimeter. Having found out that the drain pump is not working, replace it with a new, working unit.

Checking with a multimeter

A malfunction of the Beko washing machine may be caused by a pump failure. A special device, a multimeter, will help you find out whether this is so. When the working drain pump rings, the tester should display a resistance in the range of 150-260 Ohms. Diagnostics is carried out as follows:

  • de-energize the equipment, close the inlet valve;
  • disconnect the wiring and drain pipes from the pump;
  • start the multimeter, switch it to resistance determination mode;
  • Place the tester probes against the pump contacts.checking the pump

Next, you need to analyze the data produced by the device. If the multimeter shows 0, then the pump has short-circuited. If an excessively large number is reflected on the display, we can talk about a winding break. If the value on the tester screen sufficiently exceeds 260 Ohms, damage to the stator winding can be evidenced.

It is not advisable to repair the winding; it is more profitable to completely replace the drain pump.

When the cause of error F05 is a broken pump, you can fix the machine yourself by installing a new pump. If the element is working properly and there are no blockages in the drain system, then you will have to test the main control module. Only an experienced technician can correctly diagnose the board and fix the problem.
