Hardware Stop Options

There can be many reasons for the machine to stop during the washing process: from a passport forgotten in your pocket to too loud and suspicious knocking in the washing machine. In any case, you need to quickly find your bearings and choose the safest way to turn off the washing machine. The manufacturer Indesit has provided several options for the development of such a situation.

Pause the washing machine for a while. When a foreign object gets into the machine or you urgently need to add something to the drum, you can “slow down” the running program. The main thing is to do this within 3-5 minutes after the start, otherwise the tank will fill with water, and you won’t be able to open the hatch without a flood. To do this, press the “Start/Pause”, “Pause” or simply “Start” key, and then turn the programmer to the “Stop” position. If the unit does not provide the ability to pause the cycle, then we immediately turn to the regulator. After this, the indicators on the dashboard will flash, dialing will stop, and after 45-60 seconds the electronic door lock will be released. Then the machine will unlock without any problems and allow you to correct the problem that has arisen.

Modern Indesit models are able to remember the program when forced to stop and will continue washing at the same pace after starting the system.

Stop the washer completely. If the drum is full, the pause trick will not work. Before turning off the system and opening the hatch, you will have to estimate the amount of water and drain it through a special program or emergency drain. In the first case, press the “Spin” or “Drain” button, and in the second, unscrew the drain filter. How to do the latter correctly - we will describe in detail below.

Trying to stop the washing machine during washing by unplugging the cord, simulating an emergency shutdown of the light, is an extreme measure. Such an intrusion into the system is justified only in case of real danger, possible current leakage or strong “jumps” of the unit. Remember that the software of Indesit washing machines is very sensitive to voltage drops in the network, and sudden surges can damage the control board, including resistor failure or terminal detachment.

Door unlock

A forced stop of a car does not always go smoothly. It is rare, but it happens that after turning off the program it is not possible to open the door. Such a situation is considered abnormal and requires the intervention of service center repairmen. But with the right approach, you can cope with UBL on your own. To unlock the door of a stopped washing machine, you need to do this.

Take a thin rope or wire. You need a cord slightly longer than the diameter of the hatch.
Thread the wire into the gap between the door and the machine body on the right side.
Pull the cord so that it presses on the door lock.

If you can’t get to the constipation, you can try another method.Take a spatula, place it in the gap already described and press on the lock tongue. Here it is important to act as carefully as possible, otherwise it is easy to damage the body of the washing machine and ruin its appearance. We disconnect the machine from communications.
Unscrew the two screws holding the cover from the back wall.
Push the cover away from you until the latches engage and remove the panel.
We take a thin “minus” screwdriver and push it inside the washing machine, right to the lock with the UBL.
Using a flashlight, we try to find the plastic plate on the locking mechanism and move it to the left.

If everything is done correctly, a characteristic click will be heard, after which the UBL will successfully turn off. All that remains is to grab the handle and pull it towards you. But before you open the door, you should make sure that the drum is not filled with water.

Removing liquid from the tank

Before stopping the tank and opening the door, the washing machine tank must be emptied. If the “Drain” and “Spin” programs do not turn on for some reason, you will have to drain the water manually. It’s easier and more reliable to use an emergency tap, that is, unscrew the garbage filter of the machine.

If the machine washed things in a program with water heating to 40-90 degrees, then before unscrewing the filter you need to wait 20-30 minutes until the washer cools down!

Disconnect the machine from the network.
We find in the lower right corner of Indesit a technical hatch cover of a rectangular or square shape.
We pry up the hatch cover with a flat screwdriver and snap off the plastic holders.
We remove the part and on the right side we find a black “washer” - the dust filter cover.

We take the protruding “handle” of the filter and unscrew it, working counterclockwise.

Another way is to drain the water through a drain hose by gravity. We disconnect the hose from the sewer, stretch it below the level of the tank and lower it into a previously prepared basin. The “siphon effect” will cease to operate, and the waste liquid from the drum will automatically flow out.

The equipment does not respond to user commands

If the “Stop”, “Pause” buttons and rotating the programmer do not help, then you can only use the emergency stop of the washing machine. In simple words, you need to turn off the power to the machine by unplugging the power cord from the outlet, wait 15-30 minutes and restart the system. In the best case, the previous settings will be reset and the machine will allow the cycle to continue. In the worst case, a reset will not help due to a faulty control board and you will have to contact specialists for comprehensive diagnostics. But sometimes the system freezes and does not respond to user commands due to the following reasons.

Drum overload. Modern washing machines are equipped with special sensors that automatically measure the weight of the laundry loaded into the machine and, if the norm is exceeded, block further washing. Until the excess is removed, the cycle will not begin.
Inappropriate washing mode. Some standard programs, for example “Delicate”, “Wool” or “Down”, do not require spinning and draining. It turns out that after rinsing is completed, the system stops and cannot continue working. You need to look carefully at the dashboard and select the correct button.
Imbalance.If during the spin phase the drum slows down in the middle of acceleration or after 2-3 rotation attempts, then the problem is imbalance. Many washing machines have protection against imbalance, and when things get into a lump, they pause the wash for safety reasons. It’s easy to fix the situation: open the hatch and evenly distribute the clothes along the walls of the tank.
Breaking. When there is no overload with imbalance and inconsistency between functions and programs, there is only one reason for the machine to self-stop - a malfunction. Then you should pay attention to the display, decipher the displayed error code and identify the location and extent of the problem.

In addition to the error code, other factors indicate the nature of the failure. So, stopping at the beginning of the cycle indicates problems with the pump or heating element, and hanging on the spin and rinse indicates a malfunction of the drainage system. A drum that does not spin or an accompanying hum indicates a burnt-out motor.
