Is it possible to spin sneakers in a washing machine?

Today, many housewives wash their sneakers in the washing machine, which is much more effective than washing them by hand. This is absolutely safe, because modern shoe models are created in such a way that they can be washed in “home washers” without harming the materials. However, you should always follow certain rules for caring for crosses so as not to damage them. Every new washing machine has a function to regulate the number of revolutions per minute during the spin cycle. This is very important, because it is permissible to wash sneakers in the washing machine only if they are made of fabric and have no obvious defects or serious seam ruptures.

How to prepare shoes for washing?

Of course, shoes can be processed in household appliances, but to do this they must be carefully prepared for washing. Here's a short list of tips on how to do it right.

• Carefully examine the shoes to see if there are any threads, poorly stitched elements, or foam rubber sticking out of them - in this case, it is better not to wash the products.
• Unlace your sneakers and remove the insoles as they should be cleaned separately.
• First remove dried dirt, leaves, sand, stones and other debris from your shoes, which is easier to remove with a knitting needle, toothpick or coarse brush.

Once you've followed these three tips, you're ready to start cleaning your sneakers. Step-by-step washing instructions in this case look like this:

• place the shoes in the CM drum;
• add liquid detergent to the powder receptacle;
• start the wash;
• wait until the working cycle is completed, remove the products and dry them thoroughly.

Experts do not recommend treating more than two pairs of shoes at a time.

As additional protection for the drum, you can add an old unnecessary towel to it - it will act as a kind of counterweight, which will not allow the “home assistant” to fail.

Selecting a washing mode

The choice of the best operating cycle mode directly depends on the model of the washing machine. The most convenient way is to use the program, which is called “sports shoes”. Unfortunately, this mode is not available in every SM, so if you do not have such a cycle in the program menu, then you should choose the delicate mode.

In any case, setting up the machine correctly for washing shoes is not difficult. You just need to remove the spin, or set it to 400 rpm. The temperature of such a working cycle should be no more than 40 degrees Celsius. With these settings, the operating time of the SM will be minimal, which will prevent damage to the sneakers.

What cleaning agent should I use?

Household chemicals in the form of a gel or concentrate are best suited for treating sneakers and other sports shoes. It is important that it does not contain such aggressive components as chlorine and various acids.

To clean colored shoes, you need to buy detergents designed for treating colored items. If you do not follow this rule, you can seriously damage your sneakers.

It is also very important to ensure that household chemicals are dissolved in not the hottest water. Therefore, you cannot use ordinary powder, since it dissolves poorly in water at temperatures up to 30 degrees Celsius, which is why its multi-colored inclusions remain on the shoes, forming unpleasant stains.

It is better to treat shoes using gel capsules, which should be placed directly in the drum. It is not advisable to add conditioners, as they can have a bad effect on the sneakers.

In addition, liquid soap, shampoo, shower gel, dishwashing detergent and other household chemicals not intended for washing should not be used to wash shoes. All of these products contain surfactants, so they create an excessive amount of foam, which can damage the electronics of the washer.

Drying sneakers correctly

Shoes should only be dried naturally, but keep in mind that usually sneakers should not be exposed to direct sunlight. Also, they cannot be heated on home radiators or left next to the stove. The only thing that is allowed to speed up drying is to take the shoes outside to let them stand in the air, or move them to a room where there is low humidity.

And in order for the shoes to retain their shape, they can be filled with paper, which must be clean, without traces of paint or ink, so newspapers or magazines cannot be used.
