First launch of Samsung dishwasher

After purchasing a new dishwasher, users can’t wait to quickly try out the “home assistant.” However, there is no need to rush. The first start of a Samsung dishwasher follows certain rules. So, the test cycle should be idle, that is, without dishes in the baskets. Let's figure out how to put the PMM into operation.

Activation of PMM and change of program

Before using your new dishwasher for the first time, open the user manual. The instructions for the Samsung PMM describe all the nuances - from the procedure for connecting the device to communications to the rules for loading dishes into baskets. Each brand of equipment has its own characteristics, which is why it is so important to study all the manufacturer’s recommendations.

It is better to entrust the connection of the machine to the water supply and sewerage to a specialist. The specialist will connect the drain and inlet hoses, level the device, and, if necessary, integrate the dishwasher into the furniture.

The first start of the PMM is performed idle, without dishes in the working chamber, but with detergent.

During assembly, factory dirt remains on the internal parts of the dishwasher. That is why the first launch is carried out without dishes. If there are cutlery in the bunker, they will be washed with water mixed with dust, grease and other technical liquids. In this case, there will be no talk of any high quality washing.

A test cycle is also necessary to observe the operation of the dishwasher. The user should ensure that:

• water is poured into the bunker without interruption;
• the machine does not stop working;
• PMM does not leak;
• The heating element brings the water to the desired temperature;
• liquid circulates freely in the system;
• The water is completely drained from the chamber at the end of the cycle.

To run a test cycle, you must:

• load regenerating salt and detergent into the machine;
• open the shut-off valve responsible for supplying water to the dishwasher;
• connect the device to the network;
• press the power button;
• select a suitable washing program (for a test run it is recommended to use the intensive mode);
• check that the PMM door is tightly closed (you should hear a click);
• start the cycle by pressing the “Start/Pause” button.

If everything went well, you can restart the machine with cutlery. The washing program is selected based on the type of dishes and the degree of contamination. It is better to wash almost clean items using the fast algorithm, burnt pans and baking sheets - using the intensive mode.

The set cycle on a Samsung machine can be changed, but only if it was started recently. When the detergent is released from the dispenser, this option will no longer be available. To adjust the program:

• open the PMM door;
• hold down the button for the current program for 3-5 seconds (to cancel it);
• select the desired mode;
• close the machine door.

If you open the dishwasher door during a cycle, the machine will pause and continue washing 10 seconds after the door closes.

You can also add forgotten dishes to the machine after the cycle has started, but until the detergent dispenser is opened. This is done as follows:

• open the PMM door slightly, wait until the machine stops;
• open the door completely;
• add forgotten dishes;
• close the door.

The Samsung machine will notify you about the end of the cycle with a sound signal. You will need to turn off the dishwasher from the button, open the door slightly and wait until the dishes cool down.Then you can unload the PMM.

Toolkit

To operate the dishwasher you will need special household chemicals. The user needs to purchase regenerating salt, detergent and dish rinse aid. A PMM cleaner will also be required periodically (about once every 2-3 months).

Regenerating salt is necessary to soften tap water. Before starting the machine for the first time, be sure to set up the PMM ion exchanger and fill the reservoir with salt crystals. How to adjust the softener is described in the instructions for the equipment.

You can obtain information about water hardness in your region from your local water utility. You can also measure the indicator yourself, using indicator strips. Based on these data, salt consumption on Samsung PMM is regulated. The softener is configured as follows:

• unscrew the lid of the salt tank;
• find the ring with the arrow on the container;
• move the switch to the desired position, focusing on the water hardness indicator. The diagram is in the instructions for the PMM.

Next, fill the reservoir with regenerating salt. The algorithm will be like this:

• fill the container 2/3 with water;
• using the special funnel included in the kit, pour 1-1.2 kg of salt into the container;
• Close the lid carefully.

You only need to fill the tank with water once. Next, you just need to add salt to the compartment. A special indicator on the control panel will inform you about the presence of granules in the container.

Rinse aid protects dishes from streaks and deposits. It also speeds up the drying of cutlery. The product is added to the water automatically at the last stage of the cycle.

The rinse aid dispenser is located on the PMM door. The capacity of the container is 140 ml.Before the first start, fill the reservoir to the mark, then add liquid there as it is used.

The rinse aid consumption is also manually adjusted. By default, the lever is set to position 4. If stains remain on the dishes, move the mechanism to position 5 or 6.

Detergent is necessary to remove dirt from dishes. Chemical components fight fat and carbon deposits. Household chemicals must be designed specifically for dishwashers; ordinary gels will not work.

Users choose the form of the detergent at their own discretion, it can be:

• pills;
• powders;
• gels.

The detergent dispenser is filled before starting each wash cycle.

There is a mark in the dispenser compartment indicating the optimal dosage level. This is approximately 20 grams of powder. In the case of tablets, everything is even simpler - just load one capsule per cycle.

Placing items in carts

After a successful test cycle, you can start a full wash. To do this, you need to load the dishes into baskets. There are certain nuances here too.

Be sure to remove any remaining food from the dishes. Remove the tea leaves and tea bags from the mugs. It is better to pre-soak burnt pots and pans to make it easier for the machine to deal with dirt.

General recommendations for arranging dishes, given in the instructions for the Samsung PMM:

• deep objects (glasses, mugs, cups, pots, saucepans, teapots) must be turned upside down so that water does not collect inside;
• curved products should be placed at an angle so that water flows out of the recesses;
• the dishes should not interfere with the rotation of the PMM sprayers;
• devices cannot be nested inside each other;
• a small gap should be left between the products so that the water washes the objects from all sides;
• It is necessary to place the dishes securely so that they cannot tip over during the cycle.

The upper basket PMM Samsung is designed for fragile and small dishes:

• glasses;
• wine glasses;
• saucer;
• coffee cups;
• small plates and salad bowls.

Larger and dirty dishes are loaded into the lower box:

• serving plates;
• covers;
• frying pans;
• stewpans;
• pots;
• soup bowls, etc.

The position of the upper basket can be adjusted. If you need to load an oversized item down, the box can be raised higher. The pins provided on the bottom shelf can be easily folded for easy storage of, for example, pots or baking trays.

Samsung machines have a separate basket for spoons, forks, ladles and knives. Cutlery is placed mixed up, vertically, without nesting into each other. You cannot overload the PMM; this can lead to equipment breakdown and increased energy consumption.

Cleaning and caring for PMM Samsung

The dishwasher needs timely care. After each use, you need to wipe the walls of the working chamber and the door dry, leave the PMM slightly open for ventilation, and clean the filter unit from debris.

Another task for users is cleaning the spray arms. If this is not done, the injectors and bearings will become clogged. The algorithm will be as follows:

• unscrew the nut clockwise;
• remove the washer standing on top of the bracket;
• remove the part;
• wash the brackets in warm soapy water using a brush;
• install the elements in place.
