Cleaning the Siemens washing machine filter

Cleaning the Siemens washing machine filterRegular cleaning of the filter of a Siemens washing machine is the key to its high-quality and trouble-free operation. Without timely “cleaning,” the drain will become so clogged that the water will stop flowing into the sewer, and at one point the machine will “stand up” with a full tank. To prevent stagnation, the condition of the drainage should be checked periodically. Cleaning the filter is considered an easy procedure, but it has its own rules and nuances, without knowledge of which you can get confused and flood your apartment. We suggest not to take risks, but to follow proven instructions.

First let's find the filter element

To clean the garbage filter, you must first find it and remove it from the machine. This is not difficult to do: on most modern machines it is located in the lower right corner of the case. Siemens will be no exception - on their machines the “trash bin” is located in a standard place.

On older front-facing Siemens models, the filter immediately catches the eye, as it “sticks out” at the bottom of the case. On modern machines, for beauty and safety, the drainage is masked with a decorative panel. As a rule, there are three types of technical hatches on washing machines, differing in shape and method of opening:where to find a garbage filter

  • it is enough to pick up the rectangular door with a fingernail or a knife, after which the panel will be disconnected from the body;
  • the round hatch opens after a slight press;
  • a narrow long panel that occupies the entire bottom of the case leaves its place after squeezing out all three plastic latches with a flat screwdriver.

On front-loading washing machines from Siemens, the drainage filter is located in the lower right corner of the case, and on “vertical” washing machines – in the lower left.

Siemens top-loading washing machines also have a garbage filter. It is located in the front of the body, but more often occupies the lower left position. As a rule, the nozzle is masked with a small round or square false panel. Despite the slightly different location, on both the front-mounted and vertical-mounted ones, the “trash bin” is unscrewed and cleaned according to the same instructions. Let's look at how exactly.

Removing debris from the filter

Having decided on the location of the filter, you can begin to unscrew and clean it. First of all, we disconnect the machine from communications, the second is to move it a little away from the wall. Then we tilt the body back and begin the procedure:

  • disconnect the technical hatch door from Siemens;
  • place a container to collect water;
  • next to the filter plug we find a hose - an emergency drain device;
  • pull the hose towards you, pull out the plug and drain the water into the prepared container;
  • take the protruding part of the filter and unscrew it, working counterclockwise;never cleaned the filter
  • We collect the water that has accumulated in the machine.

It is forbidden to unscrew the filter immediately after the end of the high-temperature cycle - you can get scalded by hot water!

Pulling out the filter is only half the battle. Next, you need to clean both the seat and the nozzle itself. First, we wipe the vacated hole with a dish sponge, then clean the “spiral” of dirt. We return the clean “trash can” to the “nest” and screw it tightly clockwise. At the “finish”, close the hatch and return the Siemens to a vertical position.

The filter element is stuck

More often than not, you can unscrew the filter by applying a little force - the nozzle “gives in” and easily leaves its seat. But sometimes the spiral is so dirty that it sticks to the body and cannot be removed. Then you won’t be able to pull out the “trash can” in the standard way; you’ll have to act differently.

There is no point in trying to unscrew the filter by picking with a screwdriver. Firstly, this will not bring the expected result. Secondly, you can damage the nozzle and break the thread. It is better to remove the part in a safer way by partially disassembling the Siemens case. It is enough to remove the front panel, providing free access to the drainage system. We proceed like this:The garbage filter does not unscrew

  • disconnect Siemens from communications;
  • unscrew the end of the washer and put it aside;
  • we find a drain block consisting of a snail, a pump, a filter and pipes;
  • loosen the clamps on the pipes;
  • remove the snail with pump and filter;
  • turn the snail upside down;
  • dismantle the pump (turn it clockwise until it stops, then push the locking tab and repeat the turn).

After removing the pump, the internal cavity of the cochlea will be exposed. It needs to be thoroughly cleaned, and ideally, soaked in WD-40 or lemon juice. Next, the block is reassembled and returned to the machine. All! Cleaning is complete.
