How to clean the air conditioner compartment in a washing machine?

Over time, the washing machine tray into which the rinse aid is poured becomes overgrown with growths. They occur due to product residues and hard water. Appliance owners will need to thoroughly clean the air conditioner compartment of their washing machine to get rid of these deposits. But first you have to take it out and only then try to remove the dirt.

Removing the tray and disassembling the rinse aid compartment

Cleaning the washing machine container, and in particular the air conditioner compartment, should be done regularly. Otherwise, detergent, dirt and bacteria remain on the surface of the tray. The first step is to get the container itself; this is not difficult to do:

• pull it towards you until it stops;
• make sure that the tray does not move further;
• carefully continue to pull it towards you, while simultaneously pressing on the blue plastic tab (it is located in the center of the detergent compartment);
• Continue moving the tray until it comes out of the washing machine.

Putting the detergent compartment back in place is much easier - just place it flat and push it in.

After you have removed the tray from the washer, you should open access directly to the conditioner cell. At the top of this compartment there is a plastic part that is quite easy to remove. You only need to gently pull it. After this, you can proceed directly to cleaning the desired container cell.

Soaking powder receptacle parts

It is difficult to clean immediately after removing the washing machine tray, so it is recommended to soak it first. This must be done taking into account certain recommendations. Otherwise, all the work will be in vain, because scale and plaque adhere so tightly to the container material that getting rid of them is problematic. How is the washing machine tray soaked?

1. Take a fairly deep container and fill it with hot water (approximately 60 C).
2. Pour 250 grams of citric acid into the liquid (you need a lot of it to make cleaning more effective).
3. Place the detergent compartment in the container so that it is completely hidden in the previously made solution.
4. Leave for a long time (about 1.5-2 hours).
5. Take out the container and start cleaning it.

If you don't have citric acid, you can use vinegar. In this case, you will need at least 100 ml of water per deep basin. Despite the strong destructive effect of acid, considerable effort will have to be made to ensure that the cleaning is successful.

You also need to pay attention to the water temperature. Do not immerse the container in too hot liquid, because this is harmful to the plastic. It may simply become deformed if you place it in boiling water.

Persistently cleaning

After soaking for such a long time in an acid solution, the crusts in the container will crack. After this, it will be much easier to remove them than in dry form. They will partially come off on their own, but to completely clean the compartment you will have to work hard. It is best to use sharp wooden objects to remove scale. These could be chopsticks or just strong wood chips.

Important! It is prohibited to use knives, forks or other sharp metal objects to remove plaque, as they can seriously damage the air conditioner compartment.

Find any wooden stick and sharpen it. After this, you can begin mechanical cleaning of the container. If it is difficult to get rid of lime deposits, soak the tray again. After completely removing dirt, rinse the compartment with water and put it back in its original place.

Don't let the tray get dirty

Cleaning the washing machine container is not an easy task. Therefore, it is better to prevent such strong scale from occurring than to deal with it later. To do this, you need to listen to the following tips:

• After each wash, wipe the compartment dry;
• upon completion of washing, leave the compartment open until it is completely dry to avoid the proliferation of pathogenic microbes;
• After every 10 washes, carry out preventive cleaning of the cell using the method described above.

If you follow these recommendations, your washing machine tray will always be clean. This means you don’t have to scrub it vigorously to get rid of old plaque. The main thing is to prevent the occurrence of severe pollution.
