How to connect a washing machine to polypropylene pipes

There is an outlet for a washing machine
In the case where the polypropylene wiring was done by a master, he probably left an outlet for the washing machine and dishwasher. Most often, specialists create an outlet for the washing machine in the bathroom, and for the dishwasher in the kitchen. But how can you detect a drain if you weren’t the one doing it and you don’t have any knowledge of plumbing?
First of all, carefully inspect all the pipes in the bathroom. Pay special attention to the part of the pipes that is walled up in tiles. If a piece of such a pipe comes out, and a tee tap or plug is installed on it, or maybe all at once, then this means that you already have a connection point for the machine. Then all you have to do is connect the inlet hose of the washing machine to the outlet. To do this, strictly follow our instructions.
For safety reasons, we shut off the cold water riser, otherwise there is a risk of ruining the floors and flooding the neighbors below.
We choose a place for the washing machine in the bathroom so that it stands next to the connection point to the water supply.
Be sure to keep in mind that the standard inlet hose of a washing machine is usually very short, so if you do not calculate the distance, you will have to additionally purchase a long hose for drainage.
We carefully attach the inlet hose to the body of the device with our own hands, always without using keys or other tools that could damage the plastic nut.
Remove the plug from the pipe, and then open the tap, if installed.
Finally, we screw the second end of the inlet hose to the ¾ outlet of the pipe.
Now you just need to open the riser and check the connection point to make sure that water is not leaking anywhere. If there are no leaks and the hose becomes hard from being filled with water, then the inlet hose is connected correctly. There was no exit for the machine, but the sink was close
Less often, there are cases when polypropylene pipes were installed, but they forgot to make an outlet for the washing machine or simply did not want to. But if the bathroom is small, then this situation will not be a problem, because you can connect the inlet hose directly to the outlet of the sink faucet. To organize the connection in this way, we need very little.
Buy a ¾-inch tee tap, as well as a winder.
To save money, you can buy a simple through tee, which is also suitable, but if an accident occurs, you will not be able to close one tee, but will have to block the entire riser in the house.
Use an adjustable wrench to close the riser.
Find the place in the bathroom where a hose leading to the sink faucet is attached to a plastic pipe with cold water.
Unscrew the nut with a wrench, then disconnect the hose from the pipe.
Clean the thread thoroughly and wind the thread onto it. 2-3 turns are enough.
We connect our tap tee to the pipe. It is necessary to screw on the pass-through outlet, since a closed outlet is needed for the washing machine.
We wind the winding onto the thread of the second through outlet and fix the mixer hose there.
Finally, there remains a third exit - a closed one, where we first also wind the winding, and then install the “home assistant” hose. After this, connect the second end of the inlet hose to the washing machine. Now you can open the tee valve.
After all the described manipulations, all that remains is to open the riser and inspect the connection point to make sure that nothing is dripping anywhere. If everything is in order, then you can run a test cycle on the washing machine and check the reliability of all connections.
There is no outlet for the machine and the sink is far away
The worst thing is if the master installed a solid polypropylene pipe in the house, but did not take care of the drain, and as luck would have it, there is neither a sink nor a shower nearby. But even in this situation, not all is lost, since you can cut the polypropylene pipe and install ¾-inch nuts on the ends.
This is not the easiest procedure, unlike those described above, so if you do not have the necessary tools or skills, we recommend calling a professional plumber. If you are confident in your abilities, and you have a special soldering iron at home for polypropylene pipes, which is too expensive to buy for one time, as well as ¾-inch nuts and a tee tap, then carefully read the procedure.
As usual, we shut off the cold water riser.
We choose a suitable place and cut the pipe with cold water, for which a sharp knife or special scissors is suitable.
Completely drain the remaining water and dry the pipe thoroughly.
Never solder onto a wet surface, as the joint will be of poor quality and short-lived.
Solder ¾ inch nuts onto the ends of the pipe.
We install the tee tap so that the through ends connect the pipe and there is a free outlet for the tap for the washing machine.
All that remains is to connect the washing machine to the tap, and then check that water is not leaking anywhere. Only a test wash will make sure of this.
A few words about connecting the drain hose
The drain hose most often does not cause any problems at all, since many housewives simply run it to the bathroom or sink, where they throw it while washing. However, this is not aesthetically pleasing, because after such a procedure, the snow-white bathtub or sink must be thoroughly washed from the dirty water of the washing machine. It is much better to connect the machine to the sewer, for which you can place a 50 millimeter tee on the outlet of the sewer pipe.
Then one outlet of the faucet will be occupied by the sink siphon, and the other by the washing machine. You must first insert a rubber cuff into the outlet for the household appliance hose so that the hose does not jump out of the pipe due to strong pressure. There is no need to wind up the connections between the tee and the pipe, siphon or drain hose. And considering that almost all of the mentioned “consumables” can be easily and inexpensively purchased in any construction market, you can connect a drain hose not only cheaply, but also quickly.
