Replacing the drain hose on a Beko washing machine

Replacing the drain hose on a Beko washing machineIf the SMA drain hose is damaged, do not try to repair it with tape or tape. If you notice even minor defects, you should immediately replace the hose. You will have to install a new corrugation even in case of severe blockage.

We will explain how to change the drain hose on a Beko washing machine. How to choose suitable components? What tools will be needed during the work?

Description of repair

Beko automatic front cameras do not have a bottom tray. Therefore, replacing the drainage sleeve with your own hands will be easier than on washing machines of other brands. The process will require pliers and a screwdriver. Also have dry rags ready to catch excess water.

Before starting work, turn off the power to the washing machine and turn off the water intake valve.

Then you need to drain the remaining water from the machine through the emergency hose. Then unscrew the SMA garbage filter - be prepared that some liquid will also leak out of the hole. The further algorithm of actions is as follows:

  • cover the floor around the SMA with dry rags;
  • tilt the washer back to gain access to the bottom (you can also lay the SMA on its right side);
  • find the junction of the hose and the pump (the hose is connected to the volute fitting);unhook the drain hose from the pump volute
  • Use pliers to loosen the clamp holding the drainage hose;
  • remove the corrugation from the fitting;
  • unhook the hose from the fastenings on the SMA body;
  • attach the new drain hose, secure the part with a clamp on the volute fitting;
  • make sure the connections are secure.loosen the clamp and remove the hose

There is nothing difficult about replacing the drain hose. Next, all that remains is to return the machine to the starting position and start the test cycle. It is better to select the “Rinse + Spin” program.During the wash, monitor the operation of the machine; if water appears at the joints, turn off the device and re-tighten the clamps.

Why did the old hose become unusable?

The stress that the drain hose experiences during each cycle is enormous. The waste liquid passes through it and is sent to the sewer. The sleeve is made of durable polypropylene, which can withstand high pressure, temperature changes, and aggressive detergents.

Despite the strength of the material, the hose sometimes requires replacement. In what cases will it be necessary to install a new drain hose?

  • Damage to the hose. When the corrugation is bent, creases appear on its surface. Over time, they transform into cracks. This breaks the seal of the sleeve and it begins to leak. In this case, it is necessary to replace the element as soon as possible, otherwise it will completely rupture and all the water from the machine will flow out onto the floor.The washing machine drain hose is damaged
  • Blockage. Tens of liters of waste fluid pass through the hose. The water contains various impurities that settle on its walls. Also, due to the user’s carelessness, paper and other garbage forgotten in the pockets of things can get into the washing machine. Foreign objects get stuck in the sleeve, and cleaning it no longer helps.
  • Wrong size. The length of the drain hose supplied with the Beko washing machine is standard. If the machine is located far from the point of connection to the sewer, the footage may not be enough. It is not recommended to combine two corrugations into one; it is better to buy and install a new sleeve of sufficient size.

In private homes, washing machine drain hoses are damaged by rodents. In this case, after the repair it is necessary to take measures and exterminate the mice. Otherwise the problem will repeat.

Buying a suitable hose

You can purchase a new sleeve in specialized stores or on the Internet. Be sure to pay attention to two indicators: the length of the drain hose and the type of corrugation. It is better to take the old part with you and ask the seller to find an analogue.

Washing machine corrugations come in three types:

  • coiled (such a hose is assembled from several individual elements 50-55 cm long);
  • classic polypropylene (varies in size, can be from 1 to 3 meters);leak-proof inlet hose
  • telescopic (such a sleeve can stretch three times its original length).

The drain hose for the Beko washing machine costs a little. Therefore, there is no point in repairing an old sleeve with electrical tape or adhesive tape. It is better to buy and connect a new corrugation, especially since there is nothing complicated in the upcoming work.
