How to wash dishes in the dishwasher without tablets

How to wash dishes in the dishwasher without tabletsSometimes it seems that literally every day new tablets and capsules for washing dishes in PMM appear on the market of household chemicals and detergents, so it becomes more and more difficult to make a choice. At the same time, the price for these products almost never becomes lower, but only increases from time to time even more, which increases the average bill for servicing a dishwasher. To save on household chemicals, many housewives try to wash dishes in the dishwasher without tablets at all, so as not to spend a “tidy” sum. Is it possible to do this, and if so, what precautions should be taken?

Why are experts against it?

Of course, all experts and manufacturers of household appliances will argue that under no circumstances should you wash dishes in a PMM without special chemicals. This is exactly what will be indicated in the instructions for any dishwasher. As well as the fact that you should not use equipment without special salt, which helps the device fight hard tap water. But what will happen to the dishes if you try to wash them without salt with a tablet?

  • The first of four possible scenarios is that the dishes are perfectly clean.
  • The second option is that the dishes will be clean after washing, but either with stains or drops from dried water.
  • The third scenario is the satisfactory quality of dishwashing.
  • Finally, the last possible situation is the disgusting quality of washing the dishes, which will make it seem as if the utensils were not washed at all.big dirty baking tray

Thus, a working cycle without household chemicals can be called a real lottery, because until the last moment it will not be clear how well the cutlery will be washed and whether it will be washed at all. Unfortunately, most often such a wash will end with the dishes being far from being as clean as you are used to seeing them after using the PMM. As a result, you will only waste time, water and electricity that could be useful. What’s even worse is that using a dishwasher without salt can damage the ion exchanger, which will require expensive repairs and replacement of a key unit.

As an illustrative example, you can simply open a hot water tap in the kitchen, place a plate under the stream and wait a while - after this procedure, the plate will really become cleaner, dirt and food debris will disappear from it, but stubborn grease and other contaminants will remain.

If you load special salt for PMM, but do not add tablets, capsules or any other detergents for washing, then the machine will not receive any damage, but the quality of washing dishes will remain unsatisfactory. Therefore, it is indeed possible to wash dishes without tablets and other household chemicals, but there is practically no point in such savings. It is absolutely not worth using a machine without salt, because this will directly affect the safety of the equipment.

Do not use substitutes

All that remains is to sort out the situation when the special detergent for the dishwasher suddenly runs out, and you need to wash the dishes here and now.In such a situation, is it possible to use ordinary household chemicals, for example, simple washing powder, which some housewives advise using in cases of emergency? We strongly recommend against washing dishes this way, and here's why:

  • washing powder for hand washing foams extremely strongly, which means that it can penetrate into the internal components of the PMM and damage the electronics;foam in the dishwasher
  • All laundry detergents use serious chemical elements that can be toxic to the human body. All these components will remain on the dishes after washing and are guaranteed to enter the digestive system of everyone, even the smallest family members;
  • the powder will leave white stains on the dishes, which you will still need to wash with your own hands.

Some craftsmen suggest using mustard powder instead of tablets. Forget about this method, because this product swells when wet, and then clogs the sprinklers and other elements of the washing chamber. In this case, you will spend more time cleaning the internal components of the PMM than you will save on washing dishes.mustard powder

Finally, a number of housewives advise adding baking soda instead of special household chemicals for dishwashers. This makes a certain sense, because soda effectively dissolves dirt and generally acts like a regular powder. Therefore, baking soda is the only substitute for specialized products for PMM, which does its job well and does not harm complex household appliances.

It is best to use products intended exclusively for use in dishwashers - they have the best effect and are 100% not harmful to the “home assistant”.

Ultimately, detergent substitutes can indeed be used, but not all of them, and provided that there is a special salt in the machine to regenerate the ion exchanger.
