How to check the temperature sensor on an Indesit washing machine?

How to check the temperature sensor on an Indesit washing machineUsually it is the smallest parts of the Indesit washing machine that cause the most serious problems. A striking example is a temperature sensor only a few centimeters in size. Such a sensor breaks down infrequently, but if this happens, then such a breakdown can damage the heating element along the chain or, at a minimum, lead to problems with heating the water. Let's see where to find this part, how to remove it and how to check the temperature sensor? We will sort it out without delay.

Where to look for a thermistor?

In the Indesit washing machine, this important component is located in the heating device. It is shaped like a cylinder, 10 cm in diameter. Remove the back wall of the case. In its lower part there is a heating element. It has two contacts, and our sensor is located between them. To be more precise, the sensor is located in a specially designated connector of the heating element.

The sensor is equipped with electronics and transmits information about the water temperature to the control unit of the machine. The temperature is controlled by a processor that automatically turns off the heating device.

As mentioned earlier, sensor failure is a rare malfunction, but possible. In order to verify the malfunction, it is necessary to perform a test.where to look for a temperature sensor

Removing and checking the part

In order to make sure that it is the thermostat that is faulty and to exclude other possible faults, we remove it from the housing. The first thing we do is turn off the power to the washing machine. Next, follow the step-by-step instructions. Your task is to remove the thermistor, which is fixed inside the heating element. For this:

  • remove the back wall of the washing machine;
  • carefully disconnect the wires from the sensor;
  • With little effort, remove the thermistor from the heater body.

The first step is completed! Now you need to use a multimeter to diagnose faults, namely, measure the resistance.checking the sensor with a multimeter

We switch the device to resistance measurement mode. Next, we touch the sensor contacts with the probes. The resistance of the device will show about 2000 Ohms if the ambient temperature was 250C. Next, we begin to check the part for serviceability. We immerse the sensor in hot water and take another resistance measurement. If at a temperature of 500C, the resistance will drop to 1300 Ohms, then the sensor is working and the failure is of a different nature.

If the sensor is faulty, it must be replaced, since such parts cannot be repaired. The machine is assembled according to the same scheme, only in reverse order.

“Symptoms” of problems with thermistor

The natural operation of the Indesit machine directly depends on the serviceability of the temperature detection sensor. A malfunction can also be identified by external signs:

  • Regardless of the selected washing mode, the water in the tank is heated to maximum temperature;
  • The body of the machine heats up until hot steam comes out.

Under such circumstances, it is necessary to very quickly replace the temperature sensor on the Indesit washing machine so that the heating element does not fail. Replacing the sensor costs much less than the cost of the heating element, so you need to hurry to fix the problem.
