Repair your Renova washing machine yourself

Repair your Renova washing machine yourselfSemi-automatic activator washers, which include Renova, are inexpensive and easy to use. But now such equipment is rare and practically cannot be repaired - it is cheaper and easier to buy a new one. True, sometimes you have to take on the task of repairing a semi-automatic machine yourself. We suggest you understand how Renova washing machines are repaired. Let's look at the design of the washing machine, as well as typical problems and instructions for eliminating them.

How does the washing machine work?

Before you start repairing a broken Renova, you need to understand the design of the washing machine. Otherwise, it is impossible to determine the location of the breakdown, dismantle it, diagnose it, repair it or replace it. Therefore, first of all, we study the instructions supplied with the equipment and the design diagram of the unit.

Like any activator semi-automatic machine, Renova must have:

  • frame;
  • washing tank;
  • garbage filter;
  • centrifuge;
  • dashboard;
  • activator;
  • motor with drive;
  • drainage system;
  • shock absorbers.how Renova works

Let's look at each point in more detail. The body of the Renova washing machine consists of a decorative top cover, bottom, front, back and side walls. On the dashboard there is a centrifuge timer, as well as knobs for switching modes and selecting cycle duration.

The main structural element is the washing tank. Unlike slot machines, there is no separate container or drum cylinder: only a recess in the body. At the bottom of the washer or in the wall there will definitely be an activator - a circle with longitudinal bulges-blades. The “screw” is fixed with special screws and a washer with a steel spacer, and rotates using the provided shaft and pulley.

The garbage filter is located in the washing compartment, or rather, hangs on a “hook” on the left or right wall of the case. This is a mesh bag that traps debris and dirt during washing. The part is easy to clean: just remove it from the groove, clean it and return it to its place.

Another key part is the centrifuge. It consists of a tank, a laundry holder and a protective cover. The centrifuge is started by a separate motor, the impulse from which is transmitted through the shaft, and stopped thanks to the brake and brake clutch. The vibration emanating from the tank is damped by shock absorption - three lower dampers.

The Renova drainage system consists of the following elements:

  • water pump;
  • internal and external drain hoses;
  • drain valve;
  • drain fitting.

The washing machine motor is located under the washing tub. The connection between the engine and the activator is ensured through a drive belt, which clings to a small and large pulley.

Restoring the drain

More often, the Renova washing machine has problems with water pumping. The waste liquid does not leave the semi-automatic device or, on the contrary, is not retained in the tank. It is not difficult to fix the problem on your own, the main thing is to correctly determine the cause of the problem.

The drainage is disrupted in three cases: if the drain valve is broken, the pump is broken or clogged. In the first situation, you will need to adjust the tension of the valve control cable yourself. We proceed like this:

  • disconnect the washing machine from the power supply;
  • remove the back panel by unscrewing three screws on the front wall of the case;unhook the cable
  • unhook the control cable;
  • we move the cable to another hole on the drain unit;
  • We check the operation of the drain.

The drain also stops working if the pump is broken or clogged.In the first case, it needs to be replaced, in the second, it needs to be cleaned of accumulated debris. But first, the device must be dismantled. The instructions are as follows:

  • de-energize the semiautomatic device;
  • remove the back cover;
  • pull the drive belt off the activator pulley (feel with your hand and pull toward you);
  • tilt the washing machine body and unhook the lower base by unscrewing 6 screws around the perimeter;dismantling and cleaning the pump
  • move the body of the semi-automatic device by 30 degrees and open access to the pump;
  • Unscrew the 2 bolts holding the pump from the bottom;
  • remove the pump from its seat along with the hoses;
  • loosen the 4 screws and disconnect the pump from the “socket”.

The removed pump must be carefully inspected for blockages and damage. If the problem is dirt, then just thoroughly clean the pump housing, reassemble it and return it to its place. A broken device cannot be repaired - only replaced with a new one.

Changing the timer

If the wash timer does not work on Renova, then you cannot do without replacing it. Dismantling the old device and installing a new one is not difficult, the main thing is to find a similar part and follow the instructions. The procedure is as follows:

Before any repair operations, it is necessary to turn off the power to the machine and disconnect it from the water supply.

  • remove the back wall;
  • unhook the drain valve control cable;
  • Unscrew the self-tapping screw holding the dashboard from the back of the case;
  • unclip the panel from the body and turn it over;
  • find the timer;replacing the timer
  • loosen the bolts securing the timer;
  • disconnect the timer from the decorative handle;
  • release the wiring connected to the device;
  • remove the element;
  • set a new timer;
  • connect the wiring to the new device, return the handle to its place, and secure the timer with bolts.

You need to be extremely careful with wiring. To avoid mixing up the contacts when reconnecting, it is recommended to photograph the location of the terminals when dismantling the old timer.

Replacing the centrifuge motor and seal

The centrifuge often jams on semi-automatic machines. The tank does not spin up to the set speed, remaining motionless. In this case, you will have to first change the corresponding motor, and then the oil seal. The instructions are:

  • remove the back cover;
  • remove the centrifuge locking cable along with the plastic fasteners;
  • using a 8-mm head, loosen the bolt through which the centrifuge drum is attached to the brake clutch;
  • tighten the activator drive belt;centrifuge motor replacement
  • tilt the washer, unscrew the screws holding the bottom to the body;
  • disconnect the bottom from the body, freeing access to the motor;
  • Use a Phillips screwdriver to loosen the 3 screws securing the engine to the platform;unscrew the motor
  • remove the engine from the grooves;
  • partially unscrew the bolt so that you can remove the brake clutch (it is pryed off with a flat screwdriver or wrench);
  • disconnect the centrifuge brake, unscrew the bolts holding it;
  • disconnect the wiring;
  • replace the old engine with a new one.

Next, you need to replace the oil seal. We unscrew the bolts holding the top cover of the washing machine and lift it together with the control panel. It is not recommended to completely disconnect the part from the body so as not to damage the wiring. The next step is to pull out the centrifuge drum and remove the rubber seal from the “socket”. Afterwards all that remains is to put on a new gasket and put the Renova back together.

Changing the washing tank motor

If necessary, you can also repair the main motor, which is responsible for spinning the activator, with your own hands. Engine repair means its dismantling and subsequent replacement. The procedure is as follows:

  • remove the back cover;
  • reset the centrifuge locking cable;
  • Using a 8mm head, unscrew the bolts connecting the centrifuge drum to the brake clutch;
  • remove the drive belt from the activator;washing tub motor replacement
  • tilt the washing machine on one side and release the lower base of the housing from its fastenings;
  • move the bottom away from the main body and release the washing department motor;
  • release the engine from the fasteners (there are three of them);
  • partially unscrew the fan mounting screw;
  • remove the fan from the engine;
  • disconnect the connected wiring from the motor;
  • dismantle the engine.

To avoid mistakes during reassembly, it is recommended to record the disassembly process on video.

After dismantling the old motor, all that remains is to install the new motor, connect the wiring and screw back all the previously removed bolts. It is important to choose the right engine based on the Renova serial number.

Changing the drum on a centrifuge

On Renova washing machines, after long-term use, the centrifuge drum often suffers. It is damaged and needs to be replaced. The capacity changes like this:

  • the back cover is removed;
  • the drum is disconnected from the brake clutch;
  • the fasteners holding the top cover are unscrewed (three self-tapping screws at the back, one at each side, and one under the plug at the front);unscrew the screws of the top cover
  • the top cover rises;
  • the drum is pulled out;removing the centrifuge drum
  • a new drum is installed or the old one is patched.

All! All that remains is to return the top cover to its place, secure the drum and screw the back wall of the case. Then we run a test spin and evaluate the quality of the repair.

    Everything is great, but how can I determine whether the timer is working or not? The problem is this. When you turn on the wash, the activator makes 3-5 circles, stops and starts rotating in the opposite direction, so after 3-5 revolutions it stops and starts rotating in the opposite direction; when loading laundry, it practically doesn’t turn at all. What could it be? Renova ws-60pet machine.

    Hello! Washing machine RENOVA.” Tell me what to do if the wash timer does not rotate?

  3. Gravatar Anton Anton:

    The activator should work like that, in both directions, that is. But what doesn’t turn is bad. Maybe there’s not enough water, maybe there’s a lot of rags (he can’t lift more than 6 kg, judging by the model). Well, or the engine is bad. Start testing small - more water, less rag.

    Thank you! Good article. What happened if the washing time relay works, but the washing activator does not turn on? Even in an empty tank without laundry, with or without water, the draining and spinning works.
