Of course, it is best to wash silk items by hand rather than using an automatic washing machine, but sometimes this is simply not possible. But the “Silk” mode is almost always available in the washing machine, so users have an excellent way to wash delicate items without unnecessary risk. We will analyze this mode in detail and tell you how to use it correctly.

How the Silk algorithm works

Before you start washing in the Indesit machine, you definitely need to find out what material the clothes were made from. You can view detailed information about the product on the label, usually located on the inside of the item. If the item was made from natural silk, to clean it you will have to additionally buy a special detergent with neutral PH. If the clothes consist of artificial fibers, then they can even be washed with ordinary soap, as well as transparent or white shampoo. Afterwards, all that remains is to load the drum with things, add cleaning chemicals and activate the “Silk” mode.

This program was specially designed for processing clothes made from the most delicate fabrics, such as tulle, silk, viscose, as well as lace and regular underwear. All you need is to fill the container with clean boiled water, cool it to a temperature of 30-40 degrees Celsius, dissolve soap or gel in the liquid, and then stir thoroughly.

Never use chemicals that contain aggressive bleaching components to wash silk items.

Once the detergent solution in the container is ready, you can immerse the clothes in it and leave it for 20 minutes so that the detergent penetrates the fabric and begins to break down the dirt. This is also due to the fact that during hand washing you cannot use force, rub, crumple or twist delicate items, which means they must undergo a different treatment.

Instead of spinning, it is permissible to wipe off excess moisture from clothes, or blot with a cotton sheet to remove as much water as possible from things. Further drying of silk products should be done in a horizontal position. If you plan to wash colored silk, then you can use the old method - wash it in potato broth. To do this, you need to boil the peeled potatoes, remove the vegetables from the pan and let the water cool to 30-40 degrees Celsius.Next, you need to load clothes into the liquid and leave them there for several hours.

When time has passed, you need to remove the things, add 2 tablespoons of medical ethyl alcohol to the pan, and then put the clothes back in the container. When the washing is completed, the products must be thoroughly rinsed to remove the potato broth and laid to dry. If you want to prevent things from losing their bright, rich color, then while rinsing the clothes, add a spoonful of table vinegar to it, which allows the clothes to retain their shades.

How to wash silk items?

We found out that you should not use aggressive detergents for washing silk, for example, washing powder, which not only dissolves poorly in cold water, but is also not 100 percent washed out of clothes. Instead, you need to use liquid detergents consisting of environmentally friendly ingredients. A special silk gel that does not contain chlorine or other aggressive ingredients is perfect for washing, for example, the following types of household chemicals are suitable:

• “Weasel.” Wool and silk", a gel designed specifically for the care of the most delicate fabrics. Its special shape allows you to simultaneously remove any dirt from clothing, maintain its bright color and prevent deformation.
• “Eared Nanny” this gel is suitable for cleaning baby’s things, as well as clothes of people with allergies, plus, it does not harm clothes, delicately removing dirt.
• “Silk” helps prevent clothing from deforming, makes the fabric softer, cleans any dirt, works great even in cool water and does not remain in the fibers.
• “Prosept Crystal”, a balm intended for silk and wool, has a high-quality safe composition, so it perfectly cleans clothes and does not harm them.

In a situation where there are no special household chemicals for silk at home, use ordinary colorless soap or clear shampoo. The most important thing is to make sure that the composition does not contain chlorine, alkali or other aggressive components, and also remember that it is forbidden to use bleach and stain remover to treat silk.
