What program should I use to wash sneakers in an LG washing machine? Not every pair of sneakers can withstand automatic (or any other) washing without consequences. Shoes with a lot of appliqués, traces of glue on the sole, etc. runs the risk of falling apart due to water treatments, losing its appearance, or starting to leak moisture. Therefore, you can wash sneakers only if the manufacturer allows it. Is there a special mode for washing sneakers in an LG washing machine?

Washing parameters and modes

It is necessary to take into account that even the highest quality and strongest sneakers will not withstand delicate washing. Therefore, if you decide to “clean” your shoes, you need to carefully monitor the washing parameters yourself. For example, the temperature should not exceed 40 degrees (it’s better to stop at 30), and the spin must certainly be turned off. Also, if possible, you should not set the washing time to more than half an hour. Floating around in water for a long time will only harm the fastening materials.

Since LG machines do not have a special mode for washing sports shoes, users are content with the “Quick 30” program; in almost all respects it is ideal for what was intended, except for one thing - it has a built-in spin function. However, there is a way to slightly modify the mode and adjust it to the desired parameters.

  • Turn on the washing machine.
  • Press the "Fast 30" mode button.
  • Press the “Spin” button and select “No spin”.
  • Start the wash.

Accordingly, the time allotted for spinning in the “Fast 30” program is reduced, and the total duration of washing without spinning is no longer 30, but 25 minutes. In principle, this is more than enough to make your sneakers look great again.select Fast 30

Prepare your shoes thoroughly before washing

Preparing shoes for washing is no less important than washing themself. If you neglect a number of recommendations, then the sneakers can be hopelessly damaged after cleaning, even if the parameters on the machine were set correctly. First of all, remember that it is undesirable to wash sneakers with protruding foam rubber, as well as with reflectors. In the first case, the foam rubber will mercilessly climb during the process and clog the filter or pump, and in the second, the parts will simply come off and unsightly bald spots with traces of glue will remain.

Now you should remove the laces from the sneakers and simply put them together with the shoes in the drum. This way they wash better. The insoles also need to be pulled out. You can clean them either together with sneakers and laces in an automatic washing machine, or manually.

  • Wet the insoles well with room temperature water.
  • Sprinkle the surface with dry laundry detergent.
  • Scrub with a shoe brush or stiff sponge.
  • Clean the insoles until they are perfectly clean. This will take no more than 10 minutes.
  • Now you can hang or lay them out to dry.

You just need to thoroughly clean the soles of your shoes from dirt. Dirt, sand, small stones, all of this, if it gets into the drum, will inevitably damage the filter, pump or other insides of the washing machine, so it’s better not to take risks.

You can remove the primary layer of lumps of dirt and stones with a sharp knitting needle or other similar object. Smaller dirt can be removed in one minute with a high-pressure stream of water. This way, you will ideally prepare your sneakers for further washing.

Experts also recommend washing sneakers in a special bag. You can buy one at any hardware or home improvement store. If it’s difficult to get a bag in your city, it doesn’t matter. Stuff several towels, rags, rugs, etc. into the drum along with your sneakers. This is necessary so that the sneakers do not hit the walls of the drum during washing (and shoes are quite heavy) and do not harm the bumpers or other insides of the washing machine. And, oddly enough, the softer the wash, the better the sneakers are washed.

Important! You can wash sneakers in an automatic machine in one, or at most, two pairs (if they are children's or small women's). Otherwise, boots can simply knock out the glass of the hatch door, and then there are two problems at once: a flood and replacement of the door, or even the entire SM at once.

Never use the automatic drying function, even if it is available. Shoes that are not dried carefully will lose their original appearance, become deformed and deteriorate. Dry strictly under natural conditions! Namely: away from artificial sources of heat and light, as well as from direct sunlight. To maintain the original shape, many users recommend stuffing shoes with newsprint or cardboard inserts.
