How to drain water from an Ariston washing machine?

How to drain water from an Ariston washing machineIt’s unpleasant when the washing machine suddenly freezes with a full tank. Especially if the problem is not solved by rebooting the system and pressing the “Drain” button again. If the machine does not respond to external commands, you will have to act forcefully, carefully drain the water from the Ariston washing machine and carry out a comprehensive diagnostic. There are several ways to drain water manually - fast or slow, safe or emergency. To choose the right one, you should consider all the options and evaluate the nature of the problem.

How to drain the machine's tank?

If the washer refuses to “respond” to commands, then the “Drain” button will not help - you will have to act manually. Fortunately, the manufacturer has provided alternative options for emptying the tank. Moreover, you can drain the water in several ways at once: you just need to assess the situation and choose the appropriate method.

The drum is forcibly emptied through:

  • drain hose, but the pump is not activated;
  • unscrewed garbage filter;
  • emergency opening of the hatch door;
  • disconnected drain pipe.

Before forced draining, you must disconnect the machine from the power supply and water supply!

The method of emptying the tank is selected depending on the situation that occurred. In any case, it is necessary to first prepare the place and the washing machine itself for the procedure. In order not to flood your neighbors, it is worth understanding the nuances of the upcoming drain in advance. Recommendations and instructions for each method are given below.

Remove the filter and the water will flow out

An almost 100% way to quickly and easily “drain” the machine is to “go” through the garbage filter.This is a plastic spiral-shaped nozzle that protects the pump from debris and objects accidentally falling into the drum. The “spiral” is located behind the technical hatch in the lower right corner of the Ariston hull.Removing water through a filter

Then we proceed like this:

  • check that the washing machine is disconnected from all communications;
  • wait until the water in the tank cools down (otherwise you can get burned);
  • Using a flat screwdriver, pry up the technical hatch cover and remove it;
  • we find a plastic black round lid - a garbage filter;
  • carefully tilt the machine body to the left and place an empty container under the garbage filter;
  • We additionally cover the surrounding area with old rags and newspapers;
  • We take the protruding part of the lid of the “trash can” and unscrew the filter a few turns until water flows out of the hole;

There is no need to unscrew the garbage filter entirely! By leaving it in the groove, you can regulate the degree of water pressure!

  • collect water in a prepared container.

Emergency drain through garbage filter among the safest and fastest. If the machine is broken and does not respond to commands, it is better to empty the tank this way. The advantage of this method is that there is no need to disassemble the washing machine or manually scoop out the water. However, you should be prepared for the fact that a certain amount of dirty liquid will spill past the basin.

Drain sleeve

The second method involves using a drain hose. More precisely, it is necessary to bend the hose below the level of the drum and release water, thanks to the so-called “siphon effect”. The main thing is that it is possible to disconnect the corrugation from the sewer pipe. To emergency drain water through the hose, you must adhere to the following instructions:remove water through the drain hose

  • disconnect the hose from the sewer (release the clamp with pliers and unhook the corrugation from the pipe);
  • detach the hose from the back panel of the washing machine by removing the provided plastic clips;
  • lower the corrugation below the level of the tank of the Ariston washing machine, placing the free end in the basin, bathtub or toilet;
  • wait until the water drains out of the washer by gravity.

Draining through a hose is only possible on Ariston models that are not equipped with an internal loop or check valve.

Water is drained through the main hose simply, quickly and without unnecessary preparations. But there is one catch - the method does not work on all machines. Modern washing machines that have a special internal loop or check valve block gravity flow, preventing accidental leakage during washing. As a rule, we are talking about models released after 2015. To find out whether it is possible to empty the drum through the sleeve on your existing washing machine, just read the user manual.

Emergency “opening” of the machine

If for some reason you cannot drain the Ariston Hotpoint through a garbage filter and hose, you will have to turn to the “heavy artillery.” The latter means an emergency opening of the hatch door followed by scooping out water. This procedure will require more effort and time, so we proceed to it as a last resort.

We proceed like this:

  • we estimate how much water is in the tank (if the liquid level is above the edge of the drum, then tilt the machine back and fix it);
  • open the machine;
  • scoop out the water.we scoop out the water from the machine by opening the hatch

A simple sequence is complicated by some nuances. The first is the need to urgently open the door. It will not be possible to open the hatch by pressing the handle, since Ariston is securely blocked during washing. The blocking is bypassed using a rope, which must be inserted into the gap between the door and the body and, directed into the depth, pulled until a characteristic click is heard. Afterwards we unlock the machine in the usual way.

Alternative way

You can also organize forced draining through the drain pipe connecting the drum to the pump. This is done in a difficult and time-consuming manner, but in the process the cause of the unit freezing is often eliminated, since more often than not the problem is caused by a clogged pipe. However, we turn to this method only if the garbage filter, the main hose and an emergency “opening” do not help.

Water is removed through the pipe as follows:

  • remove the top cover and back wall of the washing machine;
  • we find the pipe (rubber tube under the drum connected to the pump);
  • We place a basin under the pipe, and cover the space nearby with rags;
  • using pliers or pliers, loosen the clamp securing the tube to the pump;
  • disconnect the tube and collect the water.

You cannot leave the washing machine full - for diagnostics and repairs it must be completely emptied. This is not difficult to do, the main thing is to follow the instructions and follow the safety rules.
