Indesit washing machine does not pick up speed during spin cycle

Indesit equipment is in great demand in our country, because it has an excellent price-quality ratio, but even with it, problems sometimes arise. One of the most common is the unpleasant situation when the washing machine does not pick up speed during the spin cycle. In this case, the machine washes and rinses normally, but when the spin time comes, it simply cannot accelerate the drum to the required speed. Let's look at this problem in detail, what it is usually associated with and how to deal with it.

This most likely happened

Most often, the reason for this behavior of the Indesit CM is drum overload, its imbalance, or damper failure. These are the three most common appliance problems that cause users to suffer during the spin cycle. If the problem arose due to the first two points, then the situation can be corrected within five minutes. But if the dampers are broken, complex repairs may be required.

The most important thing in loading laundry is to control the weight of clothes added to the drum for one cycle. If you accidentally load more things than the Indesit machine is physically capable of washing at once, then there is a chance that it simply will not spin the drum to perform the spin cycle. This is due to the fact that clothes get wet and heavy during washing, the device’s sensors detect overload, send information to the control module, and it, in turn, does not transmit the command to activate the spin cycle, because this can damage the crosspiece.

During overload, you can simply remove a small part of the clothing so that the SM can begin spinning.

There may also be a problem with overly bulky items, which can clump together and cause the drum to become unbalanced. To fix this, you just need to disassemble the lump and spread them out evenly.

Unfortunately, the cause of the malfunction is not always precisely these two points, which can be easily corrected. Very often the problem is hidden in the failure of the dampers of the Indesit device. If this happens, the tank will hang loose in the housing, causing damage to other key components of the SM. To fix this you will need to replace the elements.

We chose the program carelessly

Sometimes laundry may remain wet after a working cycle not due to a machine failure, but due to user error. Often housewives simply choose the wrong program that they needed. For example, on modern “home assistants” from Indesit, there are modes in which there is either no spin at all, or the minimum drum revolutions per minute are set.

Therefore, if you are faced with the fact that the clothes are too wet after the working cycle, you can simply activate the separate spin mode and select the drum rotation speed. In this situation, the equipment is not damaged, so no repairs are required.

The “heart” of the Indesit machine was damaged

Another common cause of malfunction is damage to the tachometer, which is responsible for controlling the speed of the electric motor in the device. If it fails, the speed of the drum will be disrupted. To check the part, it is not necessary to call a repair service, because you can check it yourself.

• First you need to remove the back panel of the washing machine body, having first disconnected the equipment from all communications.
• Find the electric motor and tachogenerator installed under the tank.
• Remove the wiring from the two electrical components.

You should first take a photo of connecting the wires to the parts so that during reassembly you can use the correct example.

• Remove the fixing bolts from the engine.
• Press on its body so that it falls inward and can be taken out.
• After removing the motor, you need to remove the tachogenerator, which looks like a small ring.
• The tachometer must be checked with a multimeter set to resistance determination mode.
• The probes of the device should be applied to the contacts of the element and look at the obtained values.
• If one or zero appears on the display, the part has failed.

Always buy original parts for Indesit equipment, avoiding buying analogues, which may be cheaper, but are completely unsuitable for SM.

Another cause of problems with spinning is often damage to the electric motor. The weak point of the electric motor is the brushes, as well as the stator winding, on which you need to focus attention.

If the brushes in the machine are worn down, it will be easy to restore the device’s functionality. In this case, you will have to buy new brushes and replace the damaged parts yourself, and if the problem is in the winding, then only buying a new motor can save the situation. To check the brushes, you need to remove the electric motor from the housing, unscrew the fixing bolts on the sides of the part, and then remove the graphite rods from the brushes. Even if only one brush is worn down, and the difference between the elements is several millimeters, then both brushes still need to be replaced.

After the brushes, we should check the stator winding, for which we again need a multimeter.The device needs to carefully test each turn of the wiring in an attempt to find a breakdown. You should also pay attention to the burning smell that may come from the engine. If the winding is damaged, the electric motor will lose power, which is why it will not be able to spin the drum to the maximum speed required for high-quality spinning. If there are problems with the winding, there is no point in rewinding the motor again, because it is cheaper and faster to simply buy a new one, choosing the one that fits your Indesit machine.

Always carefully monitor the work of your “home assistant” in order to promptly respond to the slightest problems that require repair. If the washing machine has stopped spinning things out, then this is not a reason to panic and call a specialist, because you could accidentally turn off the spin cycle, overload the drum, or simply encounter the formation of a lump of clothes. The cause of a malfunction is rarely due to damage to one of the SM components, but even if this happened to the device, it is easy to deal with it yourself if you use our instructions.
