At the same time, the composition of Finish tablets for dishwashers rarely differs from the composition of similar products, so why are users so actively purchasing this particular household chemical? Let's look at this issue in today's article, and at the same time compare the two most popular products from the mentioned manufacturer of tablets for PMM.

What components are Finish tablets made from?

First of all, we will carefully study the compositions of the two most popular tablets from Finish - the special “Quantum” series, which is more expensive than many of its analogues, and the classic “All in 1”. What is included in these household products?

• Sodium carbonate is a component of both types of detergents, while All in 1 also contains sodium bicarbonate. Both elements are alkaline agents in order to effectively remove grease from dishes, as well as slightly soften hard tap water.

Despite the presence of components that can combat water hardness, the tablets still cannot cope with hard tap water on their own the way that special dishwasher salt does, so you should not give up salt granules if you have quality problems in your city water.

• Sodium percarbonate is present in both types of tablets, helping to remove “colored” stains such as coffee, tea, juice and other stains.
• Sodium citrate is included exclusively in Quantum class tablets. It also significantly softens the water in the washing chamber, and also regulates the pH level, plus it improves foam properties.
• All in 1 uses polyglycol ether as nonionic surfactants, which are necessary in the composition to increase surface wetting, as well as effectively remove contaminants. The list of surfactants in Quantum is longer: ethoxylated alcohols with a C12-C14 chain, ethylene copolymer, propylene oxide, and an ethoxylated fatty amine.
• TAED is the same for two types of tablets - it is a bleaching activator, which is responsible for starting the decomposition reaction of sodium percarbonate under low temperature conditions with the release of oxygen. TAED is needed in tablets, because without it oxygen will only be released at temperatures above 50 degrees Celsius.
• Amylase and protease are present in both All in 1 and Quantum. These are complexes of enzymes, thanks to which fatty and carbohydrate contaminants are better removed from tableware.
• Polymethylsiloxane polyhydrate is included in the Quantum series. It acts as a defoamer to combat excessive foaming.
• Tolyltriazole is another element that is only found in expensive tablets like Quantum. This is a corrosion inhibitor, which, due to the high alkalinity of its composition, is able to prevent the appearance of corrosion not only on cutlery, but also on the internal components of the dishwasher.
• Finish uses magnesium and sodium sulfate as excipients in its All in 1 product, and sodium sulfate, calcium carbonate, and calcium and zinc stearate in the second type.
• Another complexing agent in both products is trisodium dicarboxymethyl alaninate.
• Finally, it is worth noting the preservative benzotriazole, which is included in both the All in 1 detergent and Quantum.

Of course, this is not due to the fact that the product is a little more expensive than the classic tablets from Finish, but if it’s more expensive, it’s better. The point is the improved composition of more expensive household chemicals.

If you study the composition of detergents in detail, you will notice that the premium series of tablets contains much more surfactants, plus there is a defoamer, which is absent in the analogue from the same company. A large amount of surfactants in the composition causes excessive foaming during the working cycle, so an additional defoamer was added to the tablets in order to reduce the level of foam in the washing chamber.

It is also worth paying attention to the increased content of percarbonate in the Quantum series tablets, which has a positive effect on the quality of dishwashing. The same can be said about sodium citrate, which increases the effectiveness of removing contaminants from tableware, plus it helps soften poor-quality tap water. Because of all of the above, a more expensive detergent is better at cleaning dishes with any type of dirt.

Finally, do not forget tolyltriazole - a corrosion inhibitor that has a positive effect on the performance of the dishwasher, and which is not included in cheaper tablets for PMM.Therefore, chemistry like “Quantum” looks preferable for the user in everything except the increased price.

As for health safety, in general, both Finish lines are environmentally friendly products created by a reliable European manufacturer with an impeccable reputation. It’s not for nothing that Finish tablets cost so much, because they are much more environmentally friendly and safe than most similar capsules from other manufacturers.

Of course, they can still be harmful to health if the detergent is used without gloves and if it accidentally gets into your eyes or mouth, but the same can be said for any other dishwasher tablets. The main thing is that the safe composition of Finish tablets can cause harm to the human body only over a very long period of time, since the same TAED and benzotriazole are added to the tablets in a minimal amount, which is not enough to cause harm to human health.
