To find out, we suggest studying a little the history of the brand, considering all the advantages of cars of this brand, and finding out what their weaknesses are.
A little history
Back in 1930, Aristide Merloni founded a company in Italy that successfully began manufacturing Industrie Merlon scales. Since 1945, it has been developing a new production niche in the production of electric water heaters under the Ariston brand (this Greek word translated into Russian means “successful”).
In 1970, Aristide divides his company into 3 parts and transfers management to his sons:
- Antonio headed the Antonio Merloni SpA plant for the production of scales and gas cylinders;
- Vitorio inherited the company Merloni Elettrodomestici, which produces home appliances, of which he became president in 1975, from which time the independent existence of the Ariston brand began;
- Francesco became president of the Merloni Termosanitari company for the production of water heaters and bathtubs.
By 1987, thanks to competent policies and marketing research, Merloni Elettrodomestici was developing successfully, and demand for its products was growing. In parallel with the growth of this company, a factory was opened in Italy in 1975. Indesit, also involved in the production of household appliances. However, its successes were more rapid, the technology from Indesit was known throughout Europe, and in the 80s, the turnover of goods became 1.5 times greater than the turnover of Elettrodomestici.This impressed Vitorio Merloni, and in 1989 he bought the Indesit brand, famous in Europe.
The decision was strategically sound, production immediately went up. Representative offices began to appear in other countries: in Poland, Portugal, Turkey, France. In 1990, Merloni bought the French concern Scholtes, and then the English Hotpoint, thereby conquering a large sales market in France, Great Britain and Ireland. In 2005, the fame of Indesit forced the Elettrodomestici concern to be renamed into the Indesit Company concern.
In Russia, the representative office of Elettrodomestici appeared in 1995. Consumers appreciated the products of the Indesit and Ariston brands.
In 2000, Merloni bought the Russian Stinol plant in Lipetsk, where he began production of Indesit equipment. And in 2004 the company built a second plant. After the merger with the Hotpoint company, they wanted to rename the Ariston brand to Hotpoint. In some countries this happened, but in Russia and the CIS countries, since 2007, washing machines have been produced with the double name Hotpoint Ariston.
Thus, the world's largest technology manufacturing concern Indesit Company owns such famous brands as hotpoint, Stinol, Indesit, Ariston. It is a leader in our country, offering equipment in different price segments.
Advantages and disadvantages
Hotpoint Ariston automatic washing machines have found their niche of consumers in the Russian market, who leave comments about them reviews on the Internet and note not only the good quality of washing, but also the special design in different models. In addition, this technique has the following advantages:
- cost optimization, namely reducing energy and water consumption during the washing process;
- adjustable software that allows you not only to select a mode, but also to set the temperature and time at your discretion;
- ease of control;
- a variety of washing machine models, both economy and premium, which is suitable for consumers with different income levels.
There is no need to hide the disadvantages of cars of this brand; we list them:
- one of the weakest points in the Hotpoint Ariston washing machine is the drain pump;
- also, some models have rather flimsy fastenings of the drum door and top cover;
- craftsmen often change hoses, especially at the point of connection to the machine’s tank, perhaps this is due to operating conditions and hard water, which is not a drawback of the machine itself;
- failures in the control module.

The total number of programs is 16, including anti-allergenic washing. The safety system includes child protection, sunroof locking, overfill protection and self-diagnosis of faults. With dimensions of 85x60x40 cm, its weight is 62.5 kg. Price from 170 $.
Hotpoint Ariston AQ105D 49D EU/B – washing machine with a maximum load of cotton fabrics up to 10 kg, synthetics up to 5 kg, wool up to 2.5 kg. Spin is adjustable up to 1400 rpm. A total of 16 washing modes are programmed, among which there is a mode “Shirts”, “Down Jackets”, “Down Blankets”, “Refresh”. Disadvantage: lack of protection against leaks. With dimensions of 85x60x65 s, the weight is 75.4 kg. The price for this Italian-made model starts from $430.
Hotpoint Ariston VMSD 722 ST B is a washing machine with the ability to wash up to 7 kg of laundry and spin up to 1200 rpm. There are 16 washing programs in total, including the “Refresh” program, during which the laundry is steamed for 20 minutes, which eliminates unpleasant odors and allergens. There is protection against overflow and overheating, self-diagnosis, but no protection against leaks. With dimensions of 85x60x44 cm, it weighs 63 kg. Price from 250 $.
Hotpoint Ariston WMTL 601 L CIS – vertical automatic machine, maximum loading weight 6 kg, spin up to 1000 rpm. There is automatic laundry weighing and 18 washing programs, including “Mixed laundry”, “Soak”, “Refresh”, “Cotton Eco”. This vertical machine is assembled in Slovakia. With dimensions 90x40x60, its weight is 58 kg. Price from 260 $.
Hotpoint Ariston AWM 108 is a built-in washing machine with a maximum load weight of 7 kg. Spin up to 1000 rpm. Washing and energy consumption class A. There are all the necessary washing modes, but there is no child protection. With dimensions 60x54x82 s, the weight is 72 kg.
So, we note that, despite the presence of Indesit Company enterprises, on the domestic market there are models of Hotpoint Ariston automatic washing machines assembled in Italy and Slovakia. Of course, the price for such models is somewhat different from their Russian counterparts, and, according to some experts, the quality of foreign automatic machines is better. But the choice is yours, good luck!

Is Ariston AVD 109 EX in production or already discontinued? If the case were made of stainless steel and the control unit was 10 cm higher, and the terminals were on the side, then the machine would be just right!
I have the original ARISTON washing machine model AI 1248 CTX from February 1996, multifunctional kitchen stove ARISTON 7 cooks model G 540 M5. 2 since April 1996 work great. Thanks Merloni!
We bought Ariston. It works very poorly. It's only been a month and there are already a lot of problems. And the workshop is 40 km away or they will come to do it for you to pay for the road. But I’m a pensioner and can’t afford it, and for this reason they didn’t sell it to the store. Manufacturers, help solve the problems.
