Washing laces in the washing machine

Washing laces in the washing machineMany housewives prefer to wash their laces by hand. Firstly, the products are too small, and in order to load them into the drum, you must first put the “strings” in a special bag. Secondly, you can’t drop off accessories separately; you need to collect a whole batch of things, and usually there’s no time to wait. Whatever one may say, theoretically, it is possible to wash laces in a washing machine. We'll tell you what rules you should follow to achieve excellent results.

We organize automatic washing

Laces from boots or sneakers are durable. Therefore, there are no “contraindications” for washing them in an automatic machine. In case of stubborn dirt, you can even “scroll” them at the maximum degree without worrying about the safety of the material.

Laces can be washed with shoes and clothes, the main thing is not to forget to sort things by color to avoid shedding.

White laces are very difficult to wash by hand. Small “ribbons” cannot be thoroughly rubbed, and they get dirty extremely quickly. Even the tiniest stains are visible on light-colored “ropes,” so you will have to put in a lot of effort when cleaning. It's easier to wash white laces in a machine. To achieve excellent results, it is important to follow several rules:

  • Be sure to soak the laces before loading them into the drum. Fill a bowl with warm water, add detergent with bleaching ingredients and leave the “ropes” to soak for half an hour;pre-soak the laces
  • After soaking in soapy water, wring out the laces and place them in a laundry bag. Instead of a special mesh, you can use a nylon stocking or an old pillowcase.This protection is necessary to prevent small accessories from falling out of the drum and getting stuck in the drain pipe or garbage filter;
  • place the bag with strings in the drum. You can’t “drive” an almost empty machine, so also load several things that match the color scheme and type of fabric;
  • add powder to the cuvette, if necessary, stain remover and conditioner;
  • start the washing machine by selecting any suitable mode. For example, a quick or mixed wash program, “Cotton”. If adjustments to the cycle parameters are provided, it is better to set the spin speed to no more than 800 revolutions and the heating temperature from 40°C to 60°C.

When the machine completes the cycle, take out the “strings”, straighten them and lay them out for further drying. There are no strict restrictions when automatically washing laces; the main thing is to put them in a protective bag and not load them at the same time as faded clothing.

If you refuse SM

It will be much faster to wash the laces by hand. Automatic washing will take at least an hour, including pre-soaking. And by choosing the “manual” method, you can cut the time in half. The algorithm for hand washing laces will be as follows:

  • first remove all adhering dirt, dried grass and other debris from the accessories;
  • rinse the products thoroughly under the tap, soaping them;
  • soak the “ropes” for 15-20 minutes in hot water with the addition of detergents. When washing light-colored laces, you can pour a couple of caps of chlorine or oxygen bleach into the basin;
  • Rub the material well, paying special attention to contaminated areas;
  • rinse the “ribbons” in clean water and hang to dry.

It can be difficult to remove dark stains from light-colored “ropes” by hand.And here housewives often resort to non-standard methods. You can clean white laces with gasoline, three percent vinegar, hydrogen peroxide or toothpaste. Let's look at each method in more detail.

  1. Take a pan, fill it with water, add 100 ml of gasoline to the container. Immerse the products in the solution and place on the tile, setting the burner to moderate heat. The laces should “cook” for about 15 minutes, after which you need to rinse them under the tap.
  2. Prepare some gasoline, bleach (non-chlorine), and cotton pads. Dip a swab in gasoline and wipe off any dirty areas on the laces. Then wipe off the dirt with a damp cloth and soak the items in water, adding a stain remover. Wait 20-30 minutes, remove and rinse the “ropes”.
  3. If there are yellow stains on the white laces, three percent vinegar, peroxide and washing powder will help. You need to mix a spoonful of each “ingredient”. This “mush” is applied to the “ribbons” using a hard sponge. Leave the “impregnation” for 30-40 minutes. Next, the products only need to be rinsed in clean water.cleaning laces with a brush
  4. You can clean your laces with toothpaste with a whitening effect. The composition should be applied to the material and wait 40-45 minutes. Then the products are carefully brushed and rinsed in warm water.

Light stains can be removed with ordinary laundry soap; the tactics are simple: soap the laces and then rinse off the foam.

Special household chemicals clean white laces well. Oxygen and optical brighteners have proven themselves to be excellent. You just need to dilute the composition in water, soak the laces and leave them in the solution for a certain time (it is indicated on the packaging of each specific product).

What “chemistry” should I use?

Folk remedies work great, but many housewives find it much more convenient to use special modern formulations with a whitening effect. They can be in the form of gel, powder, wipes, aerosol. It is important to choose high-quality “chemistry” that effectively removes contaminants. Among modern cleaning products, the following have proven themselves to be excellent:

  • Ace Gel Ultra. Concentrated gel, the principle of which is similar to whiteness. The composition contains chlorine - it penetrates the fibers of the fabric, eliminating dirt and giving it a snow-white, sparkling appearance. Can be used for both hand and machine wash. The product works great in water of any temperature.
  • Synergetic with active oxygen particles. Bleach in gel form is distinguished by its versatility. Suitable for all types of fabrics, can be poured into an automatic machine or used for hand washing. There is also no connection to degrees: the composition works great in both cold and hot water.in a dream we buy powder
  • Amway SA. Can be used not only for washing white, but also colored laces. Suitable for use in the temperature range from 20°C to 90°C. The higher the water temperature, the better the product works. Due to its special formula, the gel does not harm the fabric, preventing it from wear, fading and deformation. The only negative is the rather high cost of the composition.
  • Vanish Gold Oxi Action. The powder is inexpensive, but is not inferior in effectiveness to more advertised analogues. The manufacturer promises that the item will lighten by 3-4 tones after a minute of soaking. Great for cleaning white laces.
  • Faberlic Extra Oxy. A powder mixture with active oxygen quickly fights dirt, giving things a snow-white appearance. Works even in cold water, does not contain phosphates.The product is absolutely safe for human health - there are no critical components in the composition. Suitable for washing clothes for allergy sufferers.

It is important to correctly determine the dosage of the cleaning product; to do this, you need to study the information on the packaging.

The laces are completely unpretentious, so even “nuclear” household chemicals containing chlorine can be used to clean them. It is difficult to harm such dense material.

Tips from experienced housewives

Although you don’t need to adhere to any strict rules when washing laces, you should still listen to some recommendations. These are simple tips:

  • Shoe laces are not cleaned. It is important to take them out and wash them separately. There will be much more sense from such processing;
  • colored laces that are prone to shedding must be washed separately from other items. Therefore, if you need to refresh only two or three pairs of “ropes”, it is better to do it manually;
  • It is better to wash soiled accessories immediately than to wait for the dirt to dry;
  • After washing, the laces need to be dried and only then inserted back into the shoes. If you lace your boots with wet “strings,” the metal rings may rust and the “strings” themselves may become deformed;
  • When using bleaches for hand washing, be sure to wear gloves;
  • When washing laces in a machine, it is important to use protective bags with fine mesh. Through large “cells” the product may fall out and end up in the drain;
  • Regular cleaning of accessories will help prevent dirt from being absorbed deep into the fibers of the fabric;
  • the plastic “tips” of the laces can be cleaned with a regular eraser;plastic ends of laces can be cleaned with an eraser
  • It is recommended to dry accessories in the shade, not on radiators. Improper drying may result in loss of shape and staining of the material;
  • It is better to avoid boiling when washing - the plastic tips on the laces may be damaged.

In fact, washing laces is not difficult. They are usually made of dense, durable material. Therefore, there are no special requirements for the water heating temperature and machine mode. It is important to put them in a drum in a special bag or pillowcase, and also be sure to sort things by color. Otherwise, by “twisting” the white “strings” with a red T-shirt, you can end up with pink accessories.
