Can it be washed in a dryer?

Can it be washed in a dryer?As the name suggests, drying units are designed solely for drying clothes and nothing more, but particularly resourceful users have come to the idea that they can be used for another purpose. They place pre-soaped items into the device and start a delicate cycle. But is it worth carrying out such a procedure? We decided to find out whether it is really possible to wash it in a dryer, and what problems may arise in this case. Let's figure it out.

How do you wash clothes in the dryer?

Let us note right away: we do not support such experiments, as we consider them dangerous and ineffective. However, we will describe the process of washing in a dryer for you. In this case, it is very important not to confuse a regular dryer with a washer-dryer, because these are two different devices. A washer-dryer is specifically designed for washing clothes and then drying them.

In order for the equipment to wash things efficiently, a minimum amount of them in the drum is required. The less laundry, the more efficient the process will be. The ideal option is 2-3 small items and one medium size, for example, a sweater or shirt. Here's what housewives usually do:rub the dirty parts of the cardigan with soap

  • First, they wet dirty clothes under the tap;
  • soap the item with laundry soap and pay special attention to areas of heavy contamination;
  • Wring out the laundry and put it in the drum, after which they set a short drying program and start the process.

After all this, the item is dried by exposure to hot air. At the same time, the machine tightens the drum, which ensures minimal mechanical impact.When the program ends, the housewife removes the laundry, rinses it in a basin, gently wrings it out and puts it back in the dryer. Restarting the mode dries the item and all that remains is to iron it.

It is extremely important to understand that using the dryer for other purposes exposes it to the risk of damage!

Based on the above, we can conclude that the unit has all the necessary functions in order to set the desired pressure and temperature during the washing process. However, this whole process can easily lead to breakdown, because the device is not intended for such purposes. Moreover, the result will be significantly different from what you get from a traditional washing machine.

About the dangers and effectiveness of this procedure

Housewives claim that this method is suitable if things need high-quality washing. In addition, they believe that the device has a very gentle effect on the tissue. Thanks to this, the fibers are not damaged, which, in turn, helps to achieve good results with minimal losses.

Our experts decided to conduct an experiment and came to the conclusion that washing in a dryer is absolutely ineffective. Two cotton shirts with the same degree of soiling were taken. They were first moistened with warm water and thoroughly soaped. Then, in this state, one of them was left to lie on the shelf for 1 hour, while the other was sent to a drying device for the same period of time, in which it was dried in a gentle mode.the stains didn't come off

After that, we rinsed the shirts, hand-wrung them, and put them back in the unit for 40 minutes. As a result, the stains on both the first and second shirts were only partially washed off. The state of the contamination turned out to be the same, which allows us to say: it doesn’t matter whether the shirt was in the dryer or just lying soapy on the side - the result will be the same.

It is necessary to understand that the manufacturer of the devices strictly prohibited drying dirty things in a drum for a reason. In our case, we put clothes treated with soap into the device, and it contaminates the filters and settles on the heating element, which, in turn, leads to the appearance of an unpleasant odor, carbon deposits on the heating element and, in the future, to the breakdown of the machine.

After several attempts to wash things in a dryer and getting dubious results, you risk having to repair your “home assistant”, which can cost up to $50. Are you sure you need this? Whenever you decide to experiment, weigh the pros and cons and always remember the consequences.
