A broken washing machine is a source of serious household problems for most modern people. But the occurrence of a malfunction does not always require an immediate call to the technician. Why did the problem occur?

The machine has completed a full cycle, the owner takes out the clothes after washing and discovers that all the water has not been pumped out of the tank - such situations sometimes occur. First, you should evaluate the remaining water in the tank and determine whether at least some of the liquid has been drained. The reasons for the lack of complete drainage may be as follows:

• the drain hose or drain filter is clogged;
• The sensor that monitors the water level is not working correctly.

If the water was not drained from the drum, and the machine made an uncharacteristically loud sound during washing, then with a high degree of probability the cause was a malfunction of the pump.

Sometimes the water in the washing machine does not drain from the tank due to a broken pressure switch. It can also be tested. To do this you need to do the following:

• disconnect the wires and tube;
• check if there is a blockage in the tube; often it is because of this that the pressure switch does not work correctly;
• inspect the sensor contacts, clean them;
• take a multimeter and determine the resistance of the pressure switch.

If the test shows that the pressure switch is not working correctly, you need to purchase a new one. Then you need to connect it to the wires, tube, and install it in its original place.

How to prevent this from happening in the future?

Service center specialists note that they are increasingly having to troubleshoot drain pumps. New equipment breaks down after 2–3 years of operation. It is difficult to unequivocally answer the question of what this is connected with. Perhaps the reason lies in the low quality of components. It is also possible that washing machines may be installed incorrectly when the drain hose is extended so much that the load on the pump increases sharply.

Therefore, it is important to adhere to the manufacturer’s recommendations for the correct use of equipment. It is quite possible to prevent blockages and stagnation of water in the drum. Little needs to be done for this.
