The washing machine is leaking under the front leg

Manufacturers claim that modern household appliances are becoming more reliable and safer, but this does not at all guarantee the absence of breakdowns. It is quite common for a washing machine to leak while washing. In this case, you can most often notice that water appears under the front leg, flowing out from under the front panel of the washing machine. Why does it flow from the bottom of the machine, how to check and then fix the problem?

The source of the problem is the filter

If the washing machine leaks during operation, this is not a guarantee that some part of the device has broken down. Sometimes water flows from below solely due to an error by the owner of the device. If water appears on the floor during washing, you should check whether the dust filter lid is screwed on tightly. Also, special attention should be paid to the emergency water drain hose. If you recently cleaned the garbage filter, then it is quite possible that you simply installed the plug poorly in the hose, so now it is leaking.

If there are no problems with the hose and filter, then the rubber filter gasket may be the cause. Sometimes it simply stops working properly if it gets skewed while installing the filter. To check its functionality, follow the instructions.

1. Visually assess the space next to the filter plug to see if there is water there.
2. Use a dry cloth to collect any water around the filter.
3. Run the washing machine to check if the filter becomes wet again and if there is water around it.

If water starts to appear again, then it’s time to change either the gasket or the filter plug itself.

Problems with the plug often arise due to users washing the filter parts in boiling water during cleaning. In this way, you can kill all the bacteria and wash away the dirt from the cork, but under the influence of boiling water, the plastic part is barely noticeably deformed and begins to let water through. There is only one way out of the situation - buying a new plug.

The powder tray may be leaking

Another common cause of leaks is the detergent dispenser. In this case, when washing, water actually flows from below, but the source of the leak is located almost at the very top of the device. Carefully examine the powder tray - if it is all dirty, then most likely this is why the water is overflowing onto the floor. The liquid pours into the dispenser cavity, and from there flows onto the floor. Inspect the entire part, both outside and inside, paying special attention to the corners where leaks usually appear.

To check, simply fill all sections of the tray with water, after wiping the bottom with a dry cloth. If the problem has always been in the tray, then water will quickly begin to leak.

The hatch cuff is to blame

Finally, the deformed rubber of the hatch can fail. When a small tear appears in the cuff, which cannot be seen with the naked eye, even this can cause a serious leak.

If you suspect it is the hatch rubber, then you should carefully examine it from below, and if there really is a hole, then you should turn it over so that the damage is at the top. Follow the instructions exactly to fix the problem.

• Turn off the power to the washing machine completely, turn off the water supply and open the hatch.
• Using a thin screwdriver, pry the outer collar of the cuff to loosen it.
• Now loosen the inner rubber band clamp in the same way.
• Firmly grasp the edges of the cuff with your hands and twist it clockwise so that the hole is on top.
• We fasten the outer and inner elastic clamps, close the hatch and turn on the test wash.

If the machine stops leaking after the manipulation, it means that no further repairs or replacement of the cuff are required. This way you can cope even with a large hole - 1 centimeter or more. But if the hole in the elastic is much larger than a centimeter, then it is better to replace such a part with a new one.
