Why was there water in the dishwasher when I purchased it?

Customers are outraged when they discover water in their new dishwasher. The first thought that arises is that the store cheated and sold used equipment. But before you sound the alarm, it’s worth understanding why the PMM may be wet inside. There is a completely logical explanation for this.

How did water get inside the new “dishwasher”?

Moisture in a purchased dishwasher does not always indicate that the device has already been used by someone. Dishwashers, after assembly, right at the factory, are subjected to standard bench tests. The selected model is checked to the maximum, making sure that all technical parameters are normal.

That is, dishes are loaded into the machine, connected to water and drainage, salt is poured into the tank, and detergent is added. The highest temperature mode starts. This is how PMMs are tested at the factory.

After testing, the dishwasher is removed from the stand, packaged and sent to the supplier. The manufacturer, having completed testing the machine for functionality, is not obliged to wipe it dry. This is why equipment sometimes arrives at a retail outlet wet.

A dishwasher that is damp from the inside is not always a negative thing. You can even highlight a couple of advantages of this situation.

• Most likely, the water inside the PMM indicates that the machine was recently tested, was sent to the store and was immediately purchased. This means that it did not sit in a warehouse for a couple of years, and this is a definite plus.
• Probably, the seller, before sending the PMM by delivery to the buyer, checked it himself in order to minimize the risk of returning the car.It is necessary to clarify whether the dishwasher was tested in a store.

The worst case scenario is when you purchased a dishwasher, connected it to communications, used it, and for some unknown reason returned it to the seller. Such cases are rare, but they do occur.

Returning large household appliances to the store follows certain rules. When the machine is in perfect order and has no defects, but the buyer simply did not like it, no one will take it back. Moreover, retail chains will not risk their reputation and sell a dishwasher that is obviously defective, hoping that “what if it blows through.” Therefore, the last thing to suspect the seller of dishonesty is.

Did you really buy a new “dishwasher”?

If the information about bench tests of dishwashers at the factory is not convincing, and the thought that you were sold used equipment does not let you go, check your PMM. When purchasing on the sales floor, it is difficult to closely inspect the dishwasher and understand whether it has been in use. And it’s quite easy to do this in your apartment.

How can you tell if a dishwasher has been used before?

• Take a close look at the drain hose. For used machines it will be dirty. It is very difficult to wash the corrugation clean, and with a meticulous check you can find grease and other dried debris on its inner walls.
• Unscrew the garbage filter and look at it. The goal will be the same - to find leftover food. Upon completion of testing at the factory, the machine is cleaned using a special program, and there cannot be any pieces of food in the new PMM.
• Remove the container where the salt for PMM is poured.Inspect the container - if there is a deposit or a compressed layer of substance in it, it means that the “home assistant” has been in use for some time. When there are few granules and they did not cake, therefore, the dishwasher was simply tested.
• Separate the inlet hose from the body and find the flow filter. The mesh is located in front of the intake solenoid valve. A machine that has just passed the test will have a completely clean filter element, since specially prepared water is used at the factory during testing. There are no impurities in such a liquid that could settle on the internal elements of the device. If there is plaque on the parts, it means that the dishwasher has been used.

If you find plaque or other deposits on the flow filter, write a complaint to the store where you bought the dishwasher.

A dirty mesh is one of the indisputable proofs that the dishwasher has been in use for some time. During a one-time check in a store or bench testing at the factory, the inlet filter would not clog. Also carefully inspect the packaging and body of the machine to collect as much “evidence” against the seller as possible.

If there are scratches or other defects on the body of the dishwasher, this will be additional evidence that the equipment has already been used. Therefore, take photographs of all the shortcomings and make a written complaint to the store, where you state your assumptions and available evidence. Once you set a goal, you will definitely be able to achieve the truth.

If you find water in the dishwasher you just bought, don’t rush to think about the worst case scenario. Most likely, the liquid remained inside after factory testing of the machine. However, it’s worth playing it safe – so don’t be lazy to check the drain hose and inlet filter.If the elements are dirty, it means that the device was still in use.
