Water under the dryer

It is logical that during operation of the dryer there is much less liquid in it than in the washing machine, so even in the most extreme situation it will not be able to flood the neighbors below. But this does not mean that the user cannot experience a situation where, after operating cycles, water actively appears under the dryer. In this case, it is not the neighbors who may suffer, but the floor covering, which is also not very pleasant. Let’s figure out why this can happen to a “home assistant” and how it can be corrected.

Why is there a puddle under the dryer?

It is not always easy to answer why water is leaking from the dryer, because there are extremely many reasons for this problem, some of which also depend on the design of the household appliance. Typically, in houses and apartments, models with a reservoir for collecting liquid are installed, which are able to report the filling of a container that needs to be emptied. If you don’t get rid of the waste liquid in time, it will leak from the bottom of the machine. Plus, the reason may be a leak in the tank, which often happens with equipment from the Candy and Beko brands. Finally, we cannot rule out problems with other components that need to be fixed in order to eliminate the leak.

• Drain pump. This unit directly affects the drainage of liquid, so most often the faulty pump is to blame. If this is the reason, then you need to replace the part with a new one.

Try to buy original spare parts that will not only perfectly fit your equipment, but will also last much longer than analogues.

• Heat exchanger. Also, the dryer sometimes leaks from below after cleaning the heat exchanger.This may happen because the element is not installed correctly or the inner cover is accidentally blocked. It is also worth considering that lint from clothing often collects in the heat exchanger compartment, which causes leaks.
• Rubber seals. Finally, water may appear due to worn rubber seals. To correct the situation, simply buy new seals and install them in place of the damaged ones.

These three points apply to common water tank dryers. If you use a ventilation-type “home assistant,” then you need to look for the problem elsewhere.

• Ventilation hose. This rubber element often wears out, causing tears and cracks to appear on it. In addition, it can be clogged with fluff, lint, hair, threads and dust, or simply pinched by a heavy object.
• Ventilation tube. You should also always examine any pipe insulation that may be damaged. If the insulation is insufficient, condensation may form on the ventilation pipe. It is also impossible to exclude damage to the damper in the dryer, due to which moisture from the external environment will form in the ventilation system.

Checking the condensate collection tank

Most of these reasons are difficult to fix with your own hands, so to eliminate them you need to call a service center specialist. Remove the unit and try to fill it with water to the brim. Be sure to wipe the outer walls dry with a dry cloth to prevent erroneous test results. Watch the container carefully - you will see with the naked eye that it is leaking. But even if there is a crack in the element, this does not mean that you need to buy a new expensive tank.

What to do in this situation? A waterproof automotive sealant will help you by applying it to the crack so that the tank stops leaking. This should only be done after the container is completely dry. As an alternative, you can suggest a soldering iron for plastic, with which you need to reliably solder a large crack.

Finally, if you use a dryer that can drain condensate down the drain, you can simply not use a condensate container, but connect the machine directly to the drain pipe. In this case, you can simply forget about the tank. But all these recommendations apply exclusively to a situation where a leak has occurred due to a faulty tank. If the problem is more serious, then you will most likely need to use a repair service.
