Is it possible to wash ballet flats for dancing in the washing machine?

Special shoes are required for dancing. Most often it is Czech shoes that are required. In order to maintain the softness, shape and attractive appearance of a pair for a long time, it is important to understand how to properly care for the products. Let's figure out whether ballet flats for dancing can be washed in a washing machine and whether automatic washing will harm them.

Is it permissible to use a machine?

After purchasing Czechs, be sure to read their label. The manufacturer indicates the best way to clean shoes and whether automatic washing is allowed. If there is no tag, inspect the ballet shoes, figure out what material they are made of, how well they are glued together. For example, you will have to remove dirt from natural suede products manually, since the material deteriorates after a long stay in water.

In any case, using a machine to wash dance ballet shoes is always a risk. But if you decide to try, be sure to take note of the following recommendations:

• select the special “Shoes” program. If it is not there, run a delicate wash or manual mode;
  
• make sure that the water heating temperature is no more than 30°C;
• turn off automatic spin;
• use a special mesh bag for washing. If there is none, take an unnecessary pillowcase and place the slippers there;
• give preference to liquid detergents for delicate fabrics. It is better to avoid powders; they do not completely dissolve in cool water and are difficult to rinse out of fabric;
• Load a couple of unnecessary towels into the machine along with the ballet flats. This will protect the shoes from hard impacts against the walls of the drum.

After rinsing, do not twist the ballet shoes with force, otherwise they may become deformed. Simply blot the steam with a terry towel and set it for further drying.

It is better not to wet leather shoes and products made from natural suede. It is advisable to purchase a special cleaner for them. Professional compounds are sold in shoe stores. Usually this is foam, which must be applied to the surface with a soft sponge, and then rubbed into the material with a clean, dry cloth.

Getting rid of moisture

Sometimes ballet shoes become damaged due to improper drying. Czechs are allowed to dry only naturally; placing them on radiators or near heaters is prohibited. You can stuff your shoes with paper - the sheets will maintain their shape and absorb excess moisture.

If you dry leather ballet shoes incorrectly, they can shrink, crack, and become very stiff.The same applies to models made of leatherette. High-temperature drying of such Czechs is even more prohibited. They should not be blown with a hot hairdryer, placed on heating devices, or laid out under the scorching rays of the sun.

It will take about a day to dry the Czechs. This time must be taken into account. You should not wear wet ballet shoes to training. This is not only unpleasant, but also unsafe. A humid environment is ideal for the growth of fungi and bacteria. Therefore, it is very important to completely dry your shoes before wearing them.

Wash your ballet flats as rarely as possible

Many manufacturers do not recommend fully washing ballet flats for dancing. Therefore, such cleaning should be resorted to only in extreme cases, when no other methods help cope with contamination.

If you follow simple recommendations, you can avoid the need to wash your shoes in a machine for a long time. Here are some tips:

• After each workout, wipe your shoes with a damp cloth and clean suede ballet shoes with a special brush. Also dry and air your shoes. Periodically, you can take out the insoles and wash them with soapy water. With this care, the need for washing will disappear by itself;
• It is advisable to immediately rub the purchased white shoes with chalk. It is better to treat colored ballet shoes with a regular wax candle;
• It is important to learn how to put on and take off a pair correctly. High-quality models have specially designated grip areas. You must not step on the heel, trying to pull off the shoe, or pull out the elastic. It is also forbidden to wear them half-shod. Otherwise, the products will quickly lose their shape and become unsuitable for practice.Ideally, buy a special horn that will help you put your feet into ballet shoes;
• Suede shoes should not be completely wet at all. It is recommended to buy a foam cleaner and a special brush for suede. It is also advisable to purchase a special product for cleaning natural leather;
• To neutralize the unpleasant odor, you can use a homemade bag filled with baking soda. The case is simply placed inside the ballet shoes for several hours;
• Table vinegar will help to cope with the stench - you need to soak a cotton pad in the acid and put it in the shoes. After a couple of hours, remove the cotton wool and air the shoes in the fresh air.

Proper care will ensure the safety of your dance shoes. If after each lesson you lightly clean the shoes, ventilate and dry them, no washing in an automatic machine will be required. Clean and comfortable ballet shoes will not distract from your workout, but will only contribute to new achievements in sports.
