How to attach the front to a Bosch dishwasher

Built-in household appliances are an excellent solution for those who value a unified style in the house, because in this way a “home assistant” can be disguised as a kitchen set. Installing the facade on a dishwasher is not difficult, so it is often done with your own hands, but to do this you need to know the nuances of installation. We will analyze the entire installation process in detail so that you can make the dishwasher a natural part of the interior without calling a specialist.

We install a furniture facade

Attaching the front to a Bosch dishwasher is easy if you have the necessary tools at home, as well as detailed instructions. We recommend that you strictly follow each point in our guide in order to install the decorative panel on your PMM without any problems.

• Prepare a previously purchased dishwasher front, or make it yourself, and don’t forget to take screwdrivers, a drill, a tape measure, an awl, a simple pencil, fasteners and a handle for the door.

In Bosch dishwashers, the front is fixed with TORX T20 screws.

• Install household appliances in the niche that you have prepared for them, if you have just purchased the device.
• Attach the body of the machine to the side panels of the cabinet.
• It is advisable at this stage to connect household appliances to the water supply and drainage so that the equipment is ready for use, and after installing the facade there is no need to do anything additional.
• Next, you need to determine the distance between the items of the kitchen unit so that the installed facade is level with the doors of other kitchen cabinets - this can be done with a tape measure and a pencil.

• Now you need to take the life-size template drawing that was included with the new Bosch dishwasher and apply it to the future PMM façade.
• Using an awl, mark the locations of the fasteners.
• Drill holes for the screws with a 2.5 millimeter drill bit.
• Install TORX T bits into the holes
• Fix the decorative panel without completely screwing in the screws to first check the correctness of the calculations and installation.
• If the façade stands up normally, does not touch anything, and the door with the decorative panel opens well, then you need to make holes for the handle, for which you will need to remove the facades, make calculations with a tape measure, a screwdriver and an awl, marking a place for the handle, and then install the handle itself.
• When the handle is installed, you need to return the panel to the prepared place and tighten all the screws completely.

The process of installing a facade takes about an hour of free time, so there is no point in calling a specialist to do the work if you can do everything yourself and save the family budget.

Front size

Despite the relative ease of installing the façade on a built-in dishwasher, the installation process must be approached with all responsibility. The first thing you need to do before purchasing is to measure the dimensions of the dishwasher, as well as the niche where it will stand. The dimensions of the decorative panel will depend on the dimensions of the PMM.

If you are going to purchase a regular fully built-in “home assistant”, then you need to prepare for a width of 45 or 60 centimeters, as well as a height of 82 centimeters. If you need a small machine, then in the household appliance store you can find models whose height is only 50 and 60 centimeters.This is why it is important to measure the housing to the nearest millimeter before purchasing equipment.

The best way not to make a mistake with the dimensions is to first buy all the built-in household appliances for the kitchen, and then order furniture to fit the dimensions of the purchased equipment. In this case, errors with dimensions will be excluded, since very often the dimensions of the equipment differ slightly from what is indicated in the online store in the product card. For example, the dimensions on the website are often indicated in rounds, although in reality the machine is 59.4 centimeters wide, not 60.

Always carefully calculate the height and width of the facade, since if you make a mistake, it will be impossible to saw off the protruding elements without spoiling the appearance of the decorative panel, which is pre-laminated and covered with film.

Keep in mind when working that the height of the facade must be a couple of millimeters greater than the height of the dishwasher door. To align the facade with the doors of other furniture, you need to select the optimal height of the legs - this will allow you to adjust all the decorative panels of the kitchen unit so that they are at the same level.

Also, the size of the facade for partially built-in Bosch PMMs depends on the width of the equipment dashboard. In such models, buttons and indicators are placed on the door, so they cannot be hidden behind a decorative panel. But this is rather a plus, because installing the façade in this case is a little easier than in a situation with fully built-in dishwashers.
