Can a Tefal frying pan be washed in the dishwasher?

Is it possible to wash a Tefal frying pan in the dishwasher?Frying pans from the manufacturer Tefal are one of the most popular, because they have a non-stick coating. Owners of such cookware still have no consensus on whether Tefal frying pans can be washed in the dishwasher. Some believe that this will lead to damage to the coating and handles, while others, on the contrary, assure that everything is fine with the pans. So, who is right? To understand this, let's study this issue in more detail.

Should Tefal pans be placed in the dishwasher?

There are different Tefal frying pans, so the manufacturer notifies the user with a special icon. This icon either allows washing in the PMM or prohibits it. You need to look for such an icon at the bottom of the frying pan, and it is advisable to do this when purchasing dishes, so that later it will not be a surprise for you.

Important! Even if the frying pan is dishwasher safe, remember that it will last much less. This has been confirmed by repeated experiences of specialists.

The fact is that when washed with aggressive detergents designed for dishwashers at high temperatures, stains begin to appear inside the frying pan. On the outside, the color of the coating fades, and the aluminum fasteners also lose their shine. On the one hand, this does not affect the quality of the non-stick coating, but on the other hand, the appearance of the product will be ruined. Warranty obligations do not apply to such defects. Do not place the frying pan in the PMM

If you have permission for washing from the manufacturer, you don’t want to wash it with your hands at all.Try not to leave the product inside the machine for a long time, but to do this, select the shortest program and remove the frying pan immediately after its completion.

Is cast iron “afraid” of PMM?

What about cast iron pans that don't have a protective coating? In principle, you can wash such products in the dishwasher, but there are some “buts”.

  • Although cast iron is a very durable metal, it is better not to expose dishes made from it to strong aggressive substances that make up chemical detergents for PMM.
  • After a long stay in the dishwasher, the products gradually begin to rust, since they do not have a protective coating. Therefore, the optimal washing time is 30 minutes.
  • Cast iron also does not tolerate washing in water at high temperatures, so it is better to give preference to hand washing.cast iron frying pans

Thus, when washing a cast-iron frying pan, you need to think about whether it is worth “running” it in the dishwasher each time. Pay attention to her condition. If something is burnt and there is a lot of fat left, then PMM will be a faithful assistant in this matter. Well, in the case of light stains, you should not subject it to half an hour of treatment in the car; it is enough to wash it by hand with a soft sponge and a liquid detergent.

Teflon coated items

Let's turn to Teflon-coated pans. These products are not dishwasher safe. The fact is that the protective coating, consisting of a polymer, will simply be washed off over time due to aggressive chemicals. For the same reason, food is stirred in these pans only with wooden or plastic spatulas, otherwise you can simply “scrape off” the Teflon.

Since you can’t wash it by machine, then wash it by hand, just like cast iron products. We do not use abrasives and cleaning powders that contain alkali, and we forget about metal brushes. We take only sponges, soft cloths, and gentle liquid detergents.

On a note! Pans that are marked as an authorized Teflon TM manufacturer can withstand very high temperatures of 260 degrees and above. This means that you can wash them in the dishwasher, but before doing this, refer to the instructions.

Non-stick cookware

Another type of frying pan is a product with a non-stick coating, which is popular because it allows you to cook without the use of oil and fat. However, such dishes are even more demanding in terms of operating conditions. It can only be washed after it has cooled naturally in warm water with a gel detergent.

Important! Do not pour cold water into the spray pan to cool it down. This will spoil the non-stick properties and food will start to stick.

If you want to extend the life of such a frying pan, follow the rules:

  • do not use metal or hard brushes when washing;Do not clean with a wire brush
  • do not wash with cleaning agents such as “Sarma” or “Komet”;
  • wash the dishes immediately after cooling, otherwise the layer of fat will dry out and it will be very difficult to wash it without damaging the non-stick coating layer. The damage will immediately become noticeable, because food will stick to it;
  • You should discard a frying pan with a worn coating, because the food will burn every time when cooked;
  • do not stir food with metal spoons and spatulas, replace them with silicone and wooden utensils;
  • protect the dishes from sudden changes in temperature, and to do this, cook over medium heat so as not to overheat it, since a temperature of more than three hundred degrees will be fatal for coating;
  • only in rare cases, resort to washing in the dishwasher, using the shortest cycle at a temperature of 45 degrees;
  • do not put non-stick pans in the refrigerator, transfer food and wash dishes immediately;
  • Before heating the frying pan, add a little oil to it;
  • Be sure to rinse the new frying pan with warm water and dry it, and before cooking, grease the inside of it with oil, this will ensure comfortable and quick cooking.

Thus, washing pans in a PMM is, in most cases, purely your decision. If you feel sorry for expensive dishes and want to extend their service life, then you should avoid aggressive machine washing. But if saving time or a beautiful manicure comes first, then you can’t do without a “home assistant.”

    Cast iron pans can be washed with metal sponges. But you can’t use detergents of any kind.
