Error 03 on LG washing machine

Error 03 on LG washing machineThanks to the self-diagnosis system that modern automatic machines are equipped with, it is easier for users to understand what caused the equipment to stop working. What error 03 on an LG washing machine means, some housewives may be wondering. In fact, such a code does not exist, but there is an OE fault designation, which, due to inattention, is interpreted incorrectly. Let's figure out why this code is displayed on the display, how to return the washing machine to its previous performance?

Why does this code appear?

The designation is displayed on the device display after the end of the running program. The washing machine gives an error OE if the waste liquid is not drained from the tank five minutes after the end of the wash cycle. It is not necessary that the water will not leave at all; perhaps the rate of its removal from the system is simply much lower than the standard.

The tank of the automatic washing machine must be completely emptied within the 5 minutes allotted by the manufacturer after the end of the cycle.

What to do in such a situation? Experts see several reasons that can lead to this problem:

  • clogged garbage filter and snail;
  • kink or crack in the drain hose;
  • failure of the pump responsible for draining the water;
  • clog in the sewer pipe;
  • Pressostat malfunction.

The list of probable reasons is quite long. To correct the situation, there is nothing else left to do but check every element of the washing machine’s drain system, and also make sure that the sewer network is not clogged.

Cleaning the filter element

It’s better to start with the simplest thing, namely checking the drain filter.The element must be removed from the body of the LG washing machine. Unscrewing the filter is easy - grab it and make a half turn to the left. Pull the lid towards you. After removing the garbage filter from the housing, you will see water begin to flow out of the hole. That is why it is very important to place rags under the machine before starting work.we will find and clean the garbage filter

You can proceed to cleaning the filter element. Remove adhering hair, dirt deposits, and other debris from the part. Then rinse the part under running water. If limescale deposits are noticeable on the drain filter, a weak solution of citric acid will help remove it. To remove scale from the surface of the element, soak it for several hours in a small amount of water with the addition of 50 grams of lemon juice. Any deposits will easily come off the surface of the part.

It is equally important to examine the hole that opened after removing the element. This is exactly what the filter snail is. Take a flashlight and shine a light on the area being examined, remove pieces of dirt, lint, and other debris from the inside that have accumulated in the cavity.

Take a small cloth and additionally wipe the inside of the hole, all those places that you can reach. After cleaning is complete, replace the filter element in its original place and start the wash cycle. If the machine still shows the OE code, you will have to look further.

We inspect the hose, check the sewerage

checking the drain hoseAt the same time as cleaning the debris filter, you should also check the drain hose. It is probably bent, and this is what prevents the water from freely coming out of the tank. Also be sure to look at how water generally flows from the apartment to the sewer. If there is a problem in draining water from the bathroom, washbasin or kitchen sink, then the sewer pipe is clogged.You can try to remove the blockage using special chemicals. If such attempts are futile, you must call a plumber.

Make sure that when installing the washing machine you do not place it on the drain hose. A heavy unit will crush the tube, as a result of which draining the waste liquid from the tank will be difficult. Another reason is a blockage in the drain pipe. Clean the cavity and check if the washing machine was repaired.

Is the pump working?

In modern washing machines, you can access the drain pump without disassembling the housing. This is available on most LG machine models. To ensure that the pump is visible, you should:

  • turn off the power to the washing machine;
  • disconnect the drain and water intake hose;
  • drain the remaining liquid from the system through a garbage filter;
  • remove the detergent dispenser from the housing;
  • cover the floor with a rag;
  • Carefully lay the unit on its right side.

Most washing machine models are not equipped with a bottom. The parts located below are freely accessible. In the event of an unforeseen repair, such a design feature will only be beneficial; getting to the drain pump will not be difficult. Now we have to check the pump.

The most common reason for the drain pump to fail is its clogging with various debris that has accumulated during operation of the washing machine.

Therefore, you should not immediately test the pump with a multimeter. In most cases, it will be enough to clean the pump of hair, dirt and lint. The drainage system of automatic machines is designed in such a way that the bulk of the debris that gets inside the tank eventually settles in the filter. However, even a small amount of dirt touching the pump impeller can cause the washer to malfunction.Repair of the drain pump occurs according to the following algorithm:

  • take a photo of how the wires leading to the pump are located and connected;
  • disconnect the wiring from the part;
  • using pliers, loosen the clamps that secure the hose and pipe to the pump;
  • remove the hose and tubes;
  • grab the pump with your hands and rotate it 180 degrees to the left;
  • remove the drain pump from the system.

Inspect the impeller if you find hair or other foreign debris on it, and be sure to clean the cavities. Using a slotted screwdriver, pry up the latches and disassemble the pump housing. When checking the drain pump, examine the integrity of the internal mechanism, rubber seals, and remove debris that has fallen into the pump cavity.

If visible defects in the drain pump are detected, a new part must be installed.

If it's broken or the impeller flew off, then there is no need to change the entire pump. You can find a plastic turntable in specialized stores and install it in place of the failed part. After the repair of the drain pump is completed, you should run a standard washing cycle and check the washing machine for operation.

Pressostat

pressure switch on LG washing machineWhat to do if previous measures did not help? The water level sensor is probably not functioning properly. To make sure that the pressure switch relay is working properly, you need to disconnect the water intake hose. You can access the sensor as follows:

  • unplug the washing machine;
  • remove the top cover of the unit housing (to do this, unscrew the two bolts holding it).

The pressure switch on LG models is located on one of the walls of the washing machine, very close to the top. Having found the water level sensor, disconnect the inlet hose from it, which is secured with a clamp.Connect a special tube of suitable diameter to the freed space, which should be prepared in advance. Blow lightly into it. If the contacts of the pressure switch are working, you will hear a clear clicking sound. The number of clicks directly depends on the model of the machine, how many levels of water supply are provided in the system to perform various modes.

It is also necessary to examine all hoses and tubes for integrity. If defects are found, the pipes will have to be replaced. You should carefully inspect the contacts of the pressure switch relay; if they are dirty, be sure to clean the connectors. If the contacts stick, you will have to completely replace the pressure switch.

Upon completion of work, connect the inlet hose into place and secure it with a clamp. Then replace the housing cover and check the machine. After all the measures taken, it will definitely be possible to correct the OE error. To prevent such a problem, it is necessary to periodically clean the garbage filter and carefully inspect the clothes before loading them into the drum for foreign objects in the pockets.
