Error E1 on a Gorenje dishwasher

All new dishwashers from Gorenje are controlled electronically. More precisely, a control module consisting of an electronic board and some other elements. The control module is called the “brain” of the entire system. It is he who transmits commands to the key components of the dishwasher, and he also communicates important information to the user, displaying it on a special display. When error E1 appears there, this is a reason to stress, because something is wrong with the “home assistant”. We will analyze this situation in detail, why it occurs, and how to deal with it yourself without calling a service center specialist.

What information does E1 encrypt?

In different models of Gorenje dishwashers, modules can report this problem in different ways - either by displaying error E1 on the display, or by triggering the indication of the first and fifth LEDs located on the panel. The reason for the error is that the PMM has detected a leak, because this problem is possible only in household appliances equipped with a smart protection system. Therefore, to reset this error code, it is enough to fix the problem that was detected by the leak detection sensor.

To promptly detect the presence of water in the tray, modern Gorenje dishwashers have a special protective mechanism. Using a small float, the machine ensures that liquid that does not belong there does not fall into the pan. Therefore, if the sensor is in the closed position for three minutes or more, the already known error E1 will be displayed on the display.

Water is actually leaking somewhere

Most often, error E1 occurs due to the fact that a leak actually occurred, to which the Gorenje dishwasher responded in time. The most common place where a leak occurs is considered to be those parts of the PMM housing where connecting hoses are connected to the equipment. In addition, the reason may be in other elements of the device, for example, in the recirculation pump, drain pump, and also in the tank.

To detect leaks, the designers provided a system of one hose inside another. With this design, if the hose is damaged, then the water from it immediately flows into another hose, through which it flows into the pan, where the liquid will be blocked by the triggered sensor.

If error E1 appears due to a damaged Aquastop hose, it will have to be replaced with a new one, since it cannot be restored.

The first thing that needs to be done after the leakage sensor is triggered is to disconnect the equipment from all communications, including the water supply, even if the water supply has already been shut off by Aquastop. Then you need to partially disassemble the “home assistant” to find and fix the leak. To do this, you will have to remove the tray of the Gorenje dishwasher, after draining all the liquid from it.

The protection worked idle

In a Gorenje dishwasher, the sensor is connected through a special connector, while the other end of the wire connects Aquastop to the control unit. The reason for the error code may also be that moisture may get on the contacts during the operating cycle, they will oxidize, so the machine will begin to record unreliable information about the current position of the leakage sensor. That is why, due to a poor-quality electrical connection, error E1 may spontaneously appear during operation, to eliminate which you will need to carefully examine the leakage sensor, as well as its circuit.

• Remove the Aquastop sensor.
