Error F03 on Ariston washing machine

Error F03 on Ariston washing machineWashing machines make life easier not only with automatic washing, but also with a self-diagnosis system. Thanks to the latter, the washing machine independently detects the problem that has arisen and signals it with a code or indication. The user can only decipher the combination and carry out repairs. If error code F03 pops up on an Ariston machine, then the temperature sensor and heating element come under suspicion. All that remains is to study the “symptoms” and try to solve the problem.

What is this error?

“F03” is displayed when there are problems with heating. More precisely, the Ariston washing machine cannot heat the water to the set temperature. The board gives a signal to turn on the heating element, the time allocated for heating ends, and the module, without waiting for the information, cancels, stops washing and displays the corresponding error.

The following breakdowns lead to the appearance of F03:

  • sticking of the relay on the heating element;
  • failure of the heating element;
  • temperature sensor malfunction.

Error F03 indicates problems with water heating - the heating element or temperature sensor has failed.

Some washing machines only pause the cycle at F03, and if the user does not intervene, they continue to work in cold water. In any case, the quality of the wash suffers greatly, so postponing diagnosis and repair is not recommended.

Developing code on machines without a screen

If the Ariston washing machine is equipped with a display, then there will be no problems with diagnostics - the washing machine will display the code and narrow the search field. With models without screens it is more difficult, since you will have to navigate by the display, in simple words, by the blinking LEDs on the dashboard. The frequency and number of flickers depend on the brand of the machine.Ariston ARSL machine

On Ariston Margherita type ALS109X, error F03 is manifested by the blinking of two keys on the panel - power and UBL. The lights glow in a triple series, after which they go out for 5-10 seconds and light up again. At the same time, the programmer “signals”: it clicks and rotates clockwise.

Machines of the AVL, AVTL, AVSL and CDE series report impossible heating by indicating the two lower keys responsible for additional options. Their names vary depending on the brand; as a rule, “Extra rinse” and “Quick wash” blink; less often, “Reduced spin speed” and “Easy ironing” blink simultaneously. The “Key” button also lights up actively, and with greater frequency.

The Low-End model range of Hotpoint-Ariston (for example, ARSL, ARXL and AVM) issues F03 through the two lower LEDs “Hatch Lock” (on some models referred to as “Key”) and “End of Cycle” (sometimes the option “END” is found "). Additionally, the additional function keys located:

  • horizontally (on Ariston BHWD, BH WM and ARUSL brands);
  • vertically (ARTF, AVC and ECOTF washing machines).

Owners of Hotpoint-Ariston machines from the Aqualtis model range can detect error F03 through the blinking of lights indicating the temperature selection. We are talking about “No heating” and “30°”.

Repair algorithm

If you suspect problems with heating, you should stop washing and figure out the breakdown. It is pointless to continue the cycle in cold water - things will wash worse, and the board will “freeze” for the rest of the time due to a discrepancy in the algorithms. It is better not to terrorize the machine, turn on rinsing or draining, and after stopping the program, start diagnostics. The procedure is as follows:

  • open the drum and take out things;
  • reset the error code and unplug the power cord from the outlet;
  • wait 10-15 minutes;
  • connect the washing machine to the network;
  • Using a multimeter, we measure the bunch of resistors on the control module, setting the nominal value to 180-220 kOhm;checking the module elements with a multimeter
  • “we ring” the temperature sensor, which should respond to heating above 20 degrees with a resistance of 20 kOhm.

When diagnosing and repairing Ariston washing machines, follow safety precautions!

Be sure to inspect the heater relay circuit and the control board itself. If there is damage in the form of damaged “tracks”, burnt radio elements or loose contacts, it is necessary to carry out appropriate repairs. If you don’t have enough knowledge and experience to troubleshoot problems, then it’s better not to experiment at all, but to let the service center specialists fix the machine.

“Symptoms” of the malfunction, why did it appear?

Error F03 is manifested not only by a combination on the display and flashing lights. In addition, there is a more compelling argument - a cold door 15-20 minutes after starting the cycle. The fact is that with insufficient heating, the washing machine is not able to bring the water to the specified 60-90 degrees. Therefore, you can carry out a basic test: start the high-temperature mode, wait a certain amount of time and place your palm on the hatch.problems with heating element wiring

There is no heating for several reasons.

  • User inattention. Sometimes a program without heating water is initially selected.
  • Broken pressure switch. If level sensor does not work, the board does not receive a signal that the tank is full and does not transmit the heating command to the heating element.
  • Broken wiring on heating element. It is necessary to inspect the heater for loose or damaged contacts.
  • Faulty heating element. It may have overheated due to scale or wear.
  • Faulty temperature sensor. There is no need to think about what to do - just change the device to a new one.

When you see F03 on the display, there is no need to panic - it is not difficult to return the water heating. Knowing what is hidden behind the code and how to correct the error, you can deal with the situation quickly and without unnecessary effort.
