Washing machines often fail suddenly, for example, when the drum is already loaded with dirty things and detergent is added to the powder receptacle. Error F13 in the Leran washing machine appears on the device display at the moment when the “home assistant” cannot lock the hatch door before starting the working cycle. This is far from the most serious breakdown, so you should not immediately call a service center specialist to solve it, because you can deal with it yourself if you correctly find the cause of the breakdown and quickly localize it. Let's look at the main types of malfunction, which are always associated with either mechanics or electronics.

The door mechanism is broken

If the F13 fault code appears due to a mechanical problem, then you will not be able to close the device at all. In this case, the hatch will either not be fixed in special grooves, or will simply be pushed away from the SM body. In the second situation, it may seem to you that something has gotten into the lock and is preventing it from slamming shut. In any case, the lock will not work, there will be no characteristic click, and the drum will remain open.

Most often, this problem occurs due to a heavy load on the washing machine door. This can happen after the user accidentally slams the door too hard, hangs heavy wet laundry on it, or small children who hang on the hatch may be to blame. Any of the reasons listed can cause misalignment and damage to key structural elements.

• Door warp.Of course, door hinges can sag over time during active use of the device, but this will happen even faster if you slam the door or hang wet things on it. To restore balance, you need to re-adjust the position of the hatch, and then tighten the fasteners more tightly. If the fasteners are broken, you will have to remove the damaged parts yourself, buy exactly the same ones in the store and install them in place of the old ones.
• Tongue displacement. This is a hook installed inside the lock, which holds the hatch in the closed position. The hook is supported by a special metal rod, which can fall out over time, causing the entire stopper to move. In this case, it is necessary to disassemble the SM door, remove the mechanism and restore its functionality.

The harder you slam the “home assistant” door, the faster the door handle or lock will become unusable.

• Damage to the handle. Such a breakdown prevents the door from falling into the grooves and blocking the hatch. Repair in this case is impossible, only replacement of the element.
• Damage to the guide. When the lock is activated, this plastic plate bends and locks into the groove with a click. If they wear out and break during operation of the SM, then the hook will no longer be fixed and the hatch will not close.

It is impossible to visually determine why exactly the F13 fault code appeared - to do this, you will have to diagnose each of the listed components in turn. What to do first?

• Disconnect household appliances from all communications.
• Open the hatch door.
• Carefully inspect the castle.
• Remove the fasteners that secure the door to the body of the machine, for which you will need an ordinary star screwdriver.
• Remove the door by lifting it slightly to remove it from the fasteners.
• Examine the loops and tighten them tighter if necessary.
• Loosen the screws that hold the two halves of the door together.
• Separate the door into two pieces by prying off the top piece using a flathead screwdriver.
• Examine the locking mechanism on the handle.

UBL problem

When the mechanical lock is working properly and the door closes with a click, but the operating cycle does not start, then the problem should be looked for in the hatch locking device. The UBL operates automatically during the start of any wash, which provides additional protection for the door during operation, for example, so that children do not accidentally open it while the drum is filled with water. If the device is damaged, the control module will detect the absence of a signal from the UBL and simply will not start the operating cycle for the sake of user safety. What is usually associated with a UBL failure?

• The device is clogged.
• The UBL has failed.
• Blocker with manufacturing defect.
• There is no connection with the SM control module.

If the fault code F13 appeared only due to a clogged UBL, then this can be easily fixed with your own hands. To do this, you just need to remove the lock from the door, disassemble it and remove all dust, hair, fur and other contaminants. But if the reason is damage to the bimetallic plate or failure of the UBL due to a short circuit, then the entire element will have to be replaced.

It’s even worse if the control module of the washing machine is broken. A failure in the software, burnout of microcircuits, breakdown of tracks or contacts - all this leads to the fact that the control board stops issuing commands to the key components of the device, including the UBL does not receive a signal to block the hatch.

How to test UBL with your own hands?

To do this, you will need to prepare an ordinary multimeter and carry out a partial analysis of the “home assistant”. To access the UBL located behind the front panel of the SM, follow our instructions:

• disconnect the Leran washing machine from communications;
• open the door;
• loosen the outer clamp on the rubber cuff using a screwdriver or pliers;
• tuck the cuff into the drum;
• locate the hatch locking device installed where the door locks;
• unscrew the two screws in the place where the lock hook touches the lock;
• disconnect the wiring that goes to the UBL;

Just in case, take a photo of the correct connection of the wires so that you have an example on hand during reassembly.

• remove the device from the machine.

All instructions must be completed through the gap between the edge of the drum and the front panel of the washing machine. If this makes it inconvenient for you to remove the lock, then try removing the top panel of the “home assistant” and tilting the body back. • Set the multimeter to resistance measurement mode.

• Move one probe from the phase to the common relay.
• If the multimeter shows “1” or “0”, then the blocker is faulty.

When the hatch locking device is damaged, it cannot be repaired, but only replaced.
