How to turn off the sound of a Bosch washing machine?

How to turn off the sound of a Bosch washing machineBosch washing machines emit signals that not all users like. Particularly irritable housewives are ready to pick out the speaker that disturbs the peace with any sharp object that comes to hand. Let's consider whether it is possible to turn off the sound of a Bosch washing machine without damaging the household appliance.

The main way to turn off

The instructions for the device may not contain items regarding recommendations for turning off the sound without disassembling the case. However, this does not mean that such a solution to the problem is impossible. Let's look at how to get rid of an annoying signal using the example of a Bosch WLX 20460 OE machine from the Maxx 5 line.

Procedure:

  • turn the selector one notch to the right;
  • press the lower right button and turn the selector another notch;
  • being at the second mark, press the middle right button in order to change the sound signal of the keys (if the value is zero, the sound will be turned off);
  • turn the selector again to the right one notch, setting it to the third division;
  • with the right middle button, change the sound signal for the end of the washing cycle (to turn off, select zero value);
  • return the programmer wheel to off mode, so the device will remember the new settings.

Important! Sometimes, while changing settings, the buttons stop responding to pressing.

If the machine stops responding to key pressure, the selector returns to its original position and all actions are repeated again. If you couldn’t remove the sound the first time, you need to start all over again. In this case, after each attempt, you need to remember the settings by turning off the programmer.

A "harsh" alternative

The ability to programmatically turn off the sound signal exists only on modern Bosch machines. In older models, you can get rid of the sound of the buttons, but the wash cycle will still end with a melody. If the device's speakers were located outside the case, it would be enough to seal them with adhesive tape. However, the element is located inside the control module, so it can only be reached by disassembling the household appliance. Don’t despair and think that you will have to endure the intrusive melody all the time; if you follow simple recommendations, you can get rid of the sound forever.

First of all, you need to partially disassemble the SMA housing, located on the electronic control unit. You should disconnect the device from the electrical network, disconnect the water intake and drainage hoses.

For better access to the rear of the machine, it is recommended to unfold it.

Several bolts are unscrewed from the back of the case, after which the top panel is removed. Then the technique turns around with its frontal part again. You need to get a powder tray. On the left and right in the resulting niche you will find 2 bolts that need to be unscrewed. There is another fastener in the top left corner, which also unscrews. After all the manipulations, you should carefully remove the control unit.

The panel is turned over, screws are taken out that fix the board on it. The electrical circuit must be facing up. Everything must be done very carefully, otherwise you can break the wiring that connects the electronics and structural elements of the washing machine.

It is important to carefully inspect the board in order to see the speaker. In most cases it is located next to the toggle switch.The speaker needs to be unsoldered using an ordinary soldering iron. If you don’t want to resort to such radical methods, it’s enough to cover the source of the haunting melody with epoxy resin and turn off the sound signal without compromising the integrity of the board.
