How to replace the drain hose in an Indesit washing machine?

How to replace the drain hose in an Indesit washing machineIf the drain hose is leaking, then using electrical tape will not solve the problem - you need to change the “sleeve” as soon as possible. We do the same in situations where the corrugation does not fit in length or is very clogged. But a simple procedure will require strength, attention and patience. To change the drain hose in an Indesit washing machine, you will have to climb inside the machine and do a good job there. It is also important to choose the right corrugation and identify the cause of early rubber wear.

Replacement instructions

Indesit machines do not have a bottom, so the procedure for replacing the drain hose is faster and more convenient. But still, some difficulties remain in force, so do not forget about caution and accuracy. We prepare screwdrivers, pliers and rags, and then get to work. Instructions for replacing the drain hose look like this.

  • We disconnect the machine from the sewer, water supply and electrical network.
  • We drain the remaining water through the emergency drain.
  • We provide free access to the washing machine by moving it 1-1.5 meters away from the wall.
  • We cover the surrounding area with old rags or newspapers.
  • We tilt the machine back so that access to the bottom is as free as possible. As a last resort, it is allowed to turn the unit on its right side.
  • We find the place where the hose is fixed to the drain pump.
  • Loosen the clamp holding the sleeve.remove the clamp
  • Disconnect the second end of the corrugation on the body.
  • We take out the rubber.
  • We inspect the new hose and, after twisting it onto the fitting, secure it with a clamp on the pump.

Check several times to see if the clamp is firmly seated on the hose.

  • Connect to the body.
  • We return the washer to its place.

We definitely check the quality of work by running a test wash. We wait until the draining begins and check the outer wall of the hose for dryness. If drops of water appear at the junction with the pump, stop the cycle and tighten the clamps more firmly.

Reasons for installing a new part

The drain hose takes on a colossal load, discharging waste water into the sewer. It is attached directly to the pump, is made of polypropylene and is able to withstand aggressive chemicals and sudden temperature changes. Despite this, it is often susceptible to mechanical stress, blockages and wear. The need to replace the drain hose arises for several reasons.

  • Inappropriate length. The hose that comes with the washing machine does not always fit the meter. It is not advisable to supplement the sleeve with other parts. It is better to disconnect and change the short one to the long one.
  • Damage. When the hose is frequently squeezed, fractures often occur with subsequent loss of tightness. Cracks are also possible due to careless handling.
  • Blockage. It is rare, but it happens that large debris or a thick layer of scale prevents the hose from fully performing its function.

In private homes, users of washing machines may also encounter mice chewing through the hose. In any case, replacement is also necessary. Fortunately, the cost of corrugation is now low, so there is no need to experiment with electrical tape and sealant.

Which hose should I buy?

It is not difficult to purchase a replacement hose. You need to remove the old sleeve and take an analogue from a sample in a store that sells spare parts for washing machines from Indesit. Another option is to measure the distance from the pump to the sewer. But in addition to the length, it is important to decide on the type of corrugation:new drain hose for Indesit

  • standard - “classic” made of ordinary polypropylene 1-5 m long;
  • telescopic – characterized by a compressed shape and the ability to stretch 3 times;
  • coiled - collapsible, consists of modules of 50-55 cm.

As a rule, the need to replace the hose rarely occurs. But it is better to approach the issue as responsibly as possible in order to solve the problem once and for all.
