What dishes can be washed in the dishwasher?

shiny dishes from the dishwasherA dishwasher is a necessary and useful thing in a household. However, before using it, you should carefully read the rules for its use. All sections are important - from instructions for connecting it to recommendations for maintenance and care. Particular attention should be paid to information about which dishes are suitable for the dishwasher, because not all cutlery can “survive” washing in a household appliance. In order not to spoil your favorite plates and pans, you should carefully study this paragraph and sort through the utensils available in the kitchen.

What can you put in the dishwasher safely?

Most kitchen items can withstand the dishwasher without problems, but there are few exceptions. However, it is these devices that can significantly suffer from the use of a home assistant, and sometimes cause its failure. To understand whether a particular item can be washed, you should look at its bottom.

All modern utensils have special markings that determine which household appliances they can be used for. The icon that allows you to place it in the dishwasher bin is a picture of a plate and a wine glass with streams of water pouring from above; for some manufacturers, one glass can be replaced with a smaller plate.

Items that can be washed in the dishwasher include:ceramic tableware in PMM

  • ceramic objects - they are not afraid of high temperatures;
  • stainless steel products - allowed for washing in all modes, including intensive;
  • plastic (containers, silicone molds, cutting boards, jugs for filtering water) - will not be damaged if they are positioned correctly, that is, upside down;
  • glassware - baking dishes, glasses and cups, glasses and plates and other kitchen utensils (if you add rinse aid to the machine, the glass will not have streaks and will become shiny);
  • Zepter brand cookware, having previously removed the handle with the thermometer from it.

Water filters can be washed by first removing the cartridge from them; the recommended temperature is 40 degrees.

Porcelain items can also be cleaned in the dishwasher, but you should first read the instructions for caring for them. To do this, you should carefully consider the icons applied by the manufacturer. For most of them, the recommended temperature is 50-60 degrees.

What is not advisable or cannot be washed in PMM?

In addition to permitted and acceptable items, there are items that are strictly prohibited from being placed in the dishwasher. There are several reasons for this ban: some items may simply not tolerate washing, even on delicate modes, others may become significantly deformed or deteriorate, and others may lose their basic properties.

What items are best washed exclusively by hand?cupronickel tableware

  • Cupronickel items - cutlery made from this metal, which looks very much like silver, after washing in a machine, darkens and loses its attractive appearance.
  • Cast iron - kitchen stove grates, cauldrons, pots and pans made of this alloy are washed at low temperatures and without the use of any detergents. Otherwise, a whitish coating forms on the walls, and with frequent washing, rust begins to corrode them.It is recommended to use sand or table salt as an abrasive. Cast iron coated with ceramic coating can withstand washing in household appliances, but it is not recommended to subject it to such a test.cast iron cookware
  • Wooden accessories. Capable of deformation from prolonged exposure to water or exposure to high temperatures.
  • Enameled dishes and utensils coated with Teflon. Both types of coatings are destroyed at high temperatures and begin to “peel off”, after which their further use can be harmful to health.
  • Products made of copper and brass. They become deformed and take on a dark shade.
  • Silver. The precious metal loses its shine, and when in contact with other alloys it can darken. However, some dishwasher models are equipped with a special container for washing silver cutlery.silverware
  • Aluminum cookware not only darkens from high temperatures, but also stains the components of the household appliance with its particles, which are washed off during washing.
  • Crystal. Washing is allowed in models with a delicate cycle using non-aggressive cleansers.
  • Porcelain products without coating or with gilding. With frequent washing, they can lose their appearance due to washed-off particles.

Before placing dishes in the bin, they should be carefully examined and sorted. Taking good care of appliances and kitchen utensils, in the form of correct installation in sections and choosing the appropriate operating mode, will make the dishwashing process enjoyable and safe, and will also extend the life of household appliances.
