How to drain water from an Electrolux dishwasher

Any dishwasher is always completely filled with water during operation, but after the operating cycle it usually does not completely get rid of the liquid. Typically, you need to drain the water from an Electrolux dishwasher in a situation where something has happened to the household appliance, so it needs diagnostics and repair. In this case, all the water from the “home assistant” must be drained, and with extreme caution, so as not to damage the device even more. Because of this, you need to ensure that when turning the machine body over, water does not get on the power board or the PMM control unit. A short circuit on the power board can not only seriously damage the entire “home assistant” device, but also cause harm to human health.

It is much less common to drain the water from the dishwasher in order to leave the equipment in this condition for the winter. This may be necessary in a situation where the device is used in an unheated room during the warm season.If you leave the unit in a cold room for the winter without first draining the water, then at sub-zero temperatures the liquid inside will freeze and can rupture the plastic pipes.

Then in the spring the user will face unpleasant, expensive repairs, which could easily have been avoided by draining the liquid in the fall. To summarize, water is drained either to repair the equipment or so that it does not need to be repaired later.

We rid a working PMM of water

• We activate the water draining program and wait until the PMM completes its working cycle.
• We disconnect the equipment from all communications and remove the hoses.
• Cover the floor with rags or towels.
• We take out the garbage filter from the bottom of the washing chamber along with the lid of the salt tank.
• Slowly tilt the equipment onto its right side to drain the remaining liquid.
• Open the door to allow the PMM to dry from the inside.

If possible, keep your dishwasher in a warm, well-ventilated area to help the water inside dry out faster.

Getting rid of water from broken PMM

When the machine is damaged and does not start the forced drain of water, you will have to act differently. Of course, you can still tilt it on its side and try to drain all the liquid, but this way you can flood not only the floors, but also the power board, which will cause the damage to the equipment to become simply catastrophic.This is not to mention the fact that you also risk your health if a short circuit occurs. What to do in such a situation?

• Turn off the power to the equipment and disconnect it from the water supply.
• Open the door, remove the lower basket for dishes, and then the garbage filter with mesh.
• Also unscrew the lid of the salt reservoir.
• Next we need a large empty basin, an IV tube and a syringe.
• Place one end of the tube into the salt hopper, and connect the other end to the syringe.
• Suck up the water with the syringe, then remove it from the tube and lower the end of the tube into the basin.
• The water itself should drain from the hopper into the basin.
• Repeat the steps with water from the garbage filter.

The manipulations performed make it possible to easily drain almost all the water from the PMM. Afterwards, all you have to do is leave the equipment to dry for a day, and then you can transport the device to a service center or repair it yourself at home.

Why doesn't the PMM drain the water?

Why does liquid sometimes remain in the “home assistant” from Electrolux? Why does she just stop draining it for no apparent reason? Often this problem appears due to blockages or damage to the units responsible for draining the liquid.

The most common cause is debris that clogs the filter, causing water to stop circulating normally and, after the working cycle, to be blocked in the washing chamber. This often happens because users forget or are simply lazy to clean the dishes from food residues and grease beforehand. In such a situation, pieces of food and other debris clog the filter and normal drainage becomes impossible.

Fortunately, this problem is very easy to fix. It is enough to clean the garbage filter and mesh with your own hands.This can be done with a needle, powerful pressure of hot water, or by soaking the elements in a citric acid solution for an hour. It is much more difficult to find a way out of the situation if the drain does not work due to:

• pump damage;
• circulation pump problems;
• water level sensor failure;
• failure of the PMM control module.

Any of these four situations is a good reason to call a service center specialist. It is better not to get into the machine yourself if you do not have special education or experience in repairing household appliances.
