Why doesn't the Indesit washing machine fill with water?

It happens that after starting the washing program, the machine cannot draw water. The machine seems to be trying to fill, but no liquid is entering the system. There are enough factors that lead to the machine’s tank not filling with water. The cause of the malfunction can be either a simple blockage of the inlet hose or a breakdown of the main control module. However, some problems still occur in washing machines much more often than others, which makes it easier to find the problem area. What kind of damage are we talking about?

• Failed water intake valve. The main “symptom” of this breakdown is powder not washed out of the dispenser. To confirm or deny the fact of damage, you will have to check the part. A voltage of 220 V is applied to the water supply valve. If a characteristic click is heard, it means that a short circuit has occurred and the part is working. If the valve does not respond to the received voltage, the element will have to be replaced. Reinstalling the valve if there is no click can be easily done at home.
• Inlet filter clogged. If the filter mesh is dirty and does not allow liquid to pass through, the machine will try to draw water, making an unusual buzzing sound.
• Broken pressure switch.An incorrectly functioning water level sensor transmits a signal to the “brain” about the required fullness of the tank, while it is empty. Of course, in this case, liquid will not be supplied to the system. You should check the pressure switch - it is located immediately under the top cover of the SMA, it is a round element with a tube going inside the washer. It’s easy to check the sensor - disconnect the tube from the “box” and blow into it. If you hear clicks, the pressure switch is working. Sometimes, due to prolonged stagnation, the hose becomes clogged with dust and debris, and after “blowing out” its functionality resumes.
• Control board problems. In some cases, burnt resistors on the main module of the machine prevent the washing machine tank from fully filling. The problem can be corrected by replacing the control board elements or installing a new unit. Repairing electronics is a fairly serious matter that requires certain skills and knowledge, so it is better to entrust such a task to an experienced technician.
• Burnt out pump. If the pump does not transmit a signal to the main control module that it is ready to drain water from the system, the “brain” will not allow the wash cycle to begin. It is quite difficult to fix such a problem with your own hands; it is better to contact a service center for help.

Most often, the Indesit washing machine does not fill with water due to a broken inlet valve, clogged tubes and hoses, a failed pressure switch, or problems with the pump.

• Use pliers to grasp the protrusion on the filter;
• pull the mesh towards you (without trying to unscrew it);
• clean the filter surface with a toothpick, a needle, and rinse under running water;
• place the mesh in its original place.

Afterwards, you should take care of the deep cleaning filter.The element is placed after the tap and periodically suffers from scale. You'll have to do things a little differently here. You need to take two wrenches, hold the joint with one, and unscrew the fixing nut with the other. You should first place a basin under the pipe and run water in a strong stream. The pressure will remove dirt. All that remains is to put the nut in its original place.

Pay attention to the valve and heating element

Still, most often Indesit washing machines do not fill with water due to faulty valves. These parts cannot be repaired, so if they fail, they must be completely replaced. What to do if problems are detected with the water supply valves? Perform the following manipulations:

• disconnect the inlet hose from the valves, drain the remaining water into a previously prepared container;
• Unscrew the bolts holding the top cover of the housing and move it to the side;
• take a photo of the layout of the connectors on the coil, then disconnect the wires;
• Using pliers, remove the hoses from the terminals. Remember that liquid always accumulates in their cavity;
• loosen the screw fixing the valve;
• remove the inlet valve;
• install the new part in its original place, secure it;
• return the hoses, connect the wiring;
• check that the elements are securely fixed;
• Replace the housing cover that was removed earlier and secure it with self-tapping screws;
• connect the inlet hose;
• turn on the machine, open the shut-off valve;
• run the wash in test mode to check the equipment.

Another reason why the Indesit washing machine cannot start drawing water into the tank is a faulty heating element. If, when inspecting the heater, you find a huge layer of scale, and the multimeter indicates a breakdown, you will have to replace the element.Detailed instructions for action:

• remove the top cover of the machine;
• Unscrew the bolts around the perimeter of the rear panel of the case, move it to the side;
• find the heating element, it is located below, behind the drive belt;
• using pliers, disconnect the temperature sensor and ground contacts;

It is better to record the wiring diagram on a photo or a sheet of paper so that during reassembly you do not mix up the contacts.

• loosen the nut securing the tubular heater;
• grab the heating element, gently rocking it, pull it out of the body along with the sealing collar;
• treat the surface of the seal with dishwashing liquid, insert the cuff into its original place;
• install a new heating element, secure it with a nut;
• Connect the wiring, ground contact, temperature sensor.

If the heating element diagnostics did not reveal any problems, the inlet valves are also in perfect order, the locking device should be inspected. Perhaps the UBL has a defect, so the hatch cannot close tightly, and the board does not signal the start of water intake. You will have to turn off the power to the washing machine again, arm yourself with tools, a multimeter, and start checking the locking mechanism. The lock elements are checked with a tester, and if necessary, parts are replaced or contacts are cleaned.
