• move the device away from the wall to have access to all sides of the case;
• prepare a Phillips screwdriver and an adjustable wrench;
• remove the CMA housing cover by unscrewing the bolts holding it. If you have a top-loading machine, remove the side wall;
• remove the rear panel of the machine by removing the fixing screws (does not apply to top-loading SMA);
• find the counterweights, check if their fastenings are loose. If you notice any looseness, tighten the bolts;
• check the tension of the drive belt. If the rubber periodically falls off, it is better to replace it with a new one;
• find the shock absorbers (they are located at the bottom). The springs must be elastic; if necessary, treat them with graphite lubricant;
• clean the heating element. To do this, you need to disconnect the wiring from the heating element, unscrew the central nut and remove the heater from the housing. Scale can be removed from the part with a hard sponge or toothbrush;
• check if there is a blockage in the drain pipe;
• inspect the wires and sensors inside the housing. If you find obvious defects, replace the components.

Before disconnecting the contacts from the sensors or heating elements, take a photo of the wire connection diagram so as not to make mistakes during subsequent assembly.

To check the condition of the bearing assembly, you will have to remove and disassemble the SMA tank. This is a rather labor-intensive process, so the serviceability of parts is judged by external signs. For example, if there is play in the drum, a strong grinding and rattling noise during operation, and there are rusty stains on the back of the tank, most likely the bearings will have to be replaced.
